What was your popping method?
Im trying to germinate some old DMT seeds and the first 13 seem a little reluctant.

I didn’t do anything to crazy , just kinda setup a moist incubator setup with paper towel & wrapped in a tshirt in 78-80f I probably should have used some like acids or something to help, but it worked well just doing normal germ tech

are you calling the seeds that’ll result from this initial male and female F2’s on the assumption that the male and female are the same F1 strain, therefore making this run an F2 run, or are you saying you plan to do this original pollination and then make f2s with seeds from that to hunt through 150-200 of?

I’m going to probably do both, ideally I’m just going to be hunting the seeds from the m/f and then hunting them to make f3’s , and just work them some more , they seem very similar in traits , so I think I’ll just keep them as 1996, unless down the line when I select the future generations it just screams something else , but I don’t wanna get to fancy or expect much other then to experience and get it going , honestly the only expectation I have is just to bring some lost terps back into life & work out any kinks if there is any , would love to see the combos of the 7 crosses I made with the male , and since I’ve used a few of these crosses before in projects , I should be able to see what the male brings to them, I just finished a 100 plant hunt of my last project , so going to do the same with this one and see what we find , super exciting & going to make the best out of whatever I get

Smoke report will be coming , about 14 more days in cloner and I’ll be getting the female clones ready to flower for smoke tests

The female 1996 has these long stems on the leaves and thin leaves , still not sure what it could be, but the terps definitely smell like oldschool - strong thick smell - not gassy not chemmy - hard to explain just like a thick musk sour mothball type vibe, it’s def has that overwhelming smell you would get around mothballs , but not entirely the same smell just kinda similar impact on the nose

It’s been a long time but I don’t remember seeing much frost on the fan leaves of older plants (circa 90s/early 2000s). Is it just me or do newer cultivars have way more trichomes. Have you noticed less frost on these 90s ladies?

The 96 female has some frost but nothing like the newer moms I have , but not lacking, but missing the frost on the leaves , it’s mostly on the tiny sugar leaves on the bud itself and the swollen calyx , but for the leaves not to have much frost , it honestly has a consistent smell across the board between the bud, stem, leaves etc , hard to not get the smell on my hands lol

I think the resin will be slathered on towards the end. They also might finish a lot sooner than expected

It does have some frost on the leaves but not alot & no crazy rails like some of the cookie ish strains tend to throw
But this is the seeded mother , I’ll be Vegging the clones of her for the flower run soon as they are cloned, so will see if she develops anymore frost with proper flower run, and additives

Outta likes but I think those are gonna be some hefty seeds. Maybe that’s why such low resin production? Idk man I’m spitballing here. I’m hopeful for the f2’s

She did throw / start throwing more hairs , but I don’t plan to hit her again, I feel the load of seeds she has will be plenty to work out the f2’s & see if they are worth making an abundance of

Also with the number of f2’s you’re gonna go through, you’re bound to find something special. Weather it be a once in a lifetime male or a long lost building block female

That’s exactly what I’m hoping for , wanting to do a big hunt and pick something I honestly enjoy to smoke , and use it as a base for projects , that’s why I crossed the male to some of my other moms I’ve used before , the OG next level I used for last project I can compare a lot to, I ran 100 of those last hunt , & I should be able to pinpoint the notes the male adds to crosses , and when I find the new male , I’ll also do the same thing , just because it’ll be a good way for me to see what the males add , it’ll take time but I think it’ll work out well with all the testing pairing and seeing the outcomes
