1st auto run in an octopot

Back again for my 1st auto run.

Speedrun granite haze f6.

6 gal octo
Promix hp with extra perlite
Jacks 321
Trying botanicare cal/mag this run
RO water

Germinated on 4/12, planted 4/14, broke ground on 4/16. counting as day 6 from sprout.

Running a bunch of new gear on this one. AI controller, cloudforge humidifier and thermoforge heater. Running the heat on a temp trigger but exhaust, fans, and humidifier are on the AI advanced vpd mode. Been holding steady between .7 - .9 vpd since she broke ground, temps steady around 70-73 so far. Lights are on 20/4 @ around 200 ppfd as of today. I plan to keep bumping that up over the next week.

Once i can start turning up my light, im hoping ill only need the heater during lights off to help kill the huge temp and rh swings i usually have between day/night cycles.

(Found a bonus grow ‘buddy’ on top of a random gas pump a few days ago. Cleaned it up and is now chillin in the tent. Aptly named Sinclair.)

Shes looking good so far!

Good luck kickin’ all the tires on your new gear :four_leaf_clover:
Be curious to see how the AI controller VPD stuff works out for you.
:v::nerd_face: good luck on your maiden auto voyage also!

also wanted to add that the AI controller has been working great at holding vpd ranges so far (humidifier and fans are AI controlled), based on my heater’s temps settings (not controlled by AI).seedling i was targeting .7 - .9, then late seedling/early early veg i was at .8 - 1.0. bumped it up to .9 - 1.1 a couple of days ago since im def in veg now. she seems to be happy so i think i the controller must be doning something right… lol

havent had to fiddle with anything, at all, to dial everything in after the initial 24-48 hours where the AI is ‘learning’ how all the selected gear affects temps and rh.

tried adding the heater to the AI control too, but it seemed to want to match the lung room temp. in my set up, my basement is really cool. like… 64-69 degrees, so i need some heat in the tent (cheaper than running my furnace to keep the basement at 72ish!).

had to take the heater out of the AI side, and put it on its own automation w/schedules for day and night cycles. i think it makes more sense to do it this way in my situation. at least until ACI adds options into the AI mode device settings to choose how i want to control vpd, heat or humidifier, and then allows me pick a target or range for the heater or humidifier. AI can handle the side i dont choose (temp vs rh).

otherwise, have been pleasantly surprised by how well it has been working.

Day 30.

Definately seeing signs of preflower. :muscle:

Been about 33ish days since my last update i think?

Day 63 since sprout/26ish F. Had to supercrop around 2 wks into flower. Stretch got away from me. Not ideal, but ive got some great looking tops. Very similar to my photo runs. She was stuck for a week after, but has since started stacking up.

Getting funky like locker room and fruity gum sort of nose at the moment.

buds are still looking great, but i think im running into ph fluctuation issues for the first time. might be starting to lockout? :frowning:

have been slowly ramping up ph to 6.1 - 6.3 over the past 2-3 weeks, but the last one was 6.0-ish. i noticed an odd looking leaf when filling 3 days ago, but didnt think much of it. checked again last night, and its spreading. seems to be mostly upper leaves. research is coming up with either ph issue and/or phosphorus deficiency.

i always seem to run into some issue like this about 4-5 weeks into flower. wk 5F on this one starts tomorrow (day 65 from sprout).

will check the res ph when i get home today. its just weird. i dont think ive ever worried about the ph once its stable in my mixing container before i top off the res.

still not sure how to fix lockout either if there is a salt build up in the sleeve. ive ‘flushed’ from the top before, but not sure if thats the right way to approach fixing a salt build up issue when running in an octo.

*edit
ive never really had what I think would be a true fade on any of my runs either. this isnt senescence, right?
