Finally was able to pull the DSLR out too so better pics. Strong sweet berry scent… very nice. Not as strong as the TP, but certainly achieved the smell and look I wanted. Rock hard buds too!
What can I say… frosty to the max. Shared a J with friends last night and the concensus was no tangerine smell but the power part is definitely there. Nice stong stone - still very alert and good conversation, no spaced out feelings.
Really resinous though!! Hoping the male I made with this cross puts some umph into the GF x BB.
Hopefully the next post will be hanging shots! New seeds crack and growing too… some 5 year old C99 F4 seeds… should be a good new grow journal.
Just read this entire thread man it looks real nice for what you’ve done it with. If you wouldn’t have said you did that under a 250w HPS I would prolly have guessed it was under a 600w.
The 250 hps has shocked me a bit - had good production from it so far. My buddy who use to use a 250 checked my garden out and was shocked at the bud size and density. Could be genetics, could be the living soil… either way they seem happy and productive!
The GF x BB is beautiful in so many ways… trying not to fall into that trap of keeping a plant based on looks… in the end it all becomes ash. After it’s dried and cured that will be the real test.
It was the only plant I had of GF x BB so planning on creating some S1s of it as I’m interested in the process and think it would be fun to wade through the gene pool a bit more. I do have some Sweet Tooth #3 seeds to get into at some point so should be similar but much more GF leaning (same GF mom, different BB dad)
Thanks for the complements everyone! It’s been a pleasure to start growing again… glad some of it seems to have turned out well. One thing I can say about picking this up again 20 years later is I have a lot more patience! Letting these run 11 weeks in my university days would not have happened
So it all got the chop right at 11 weeks. Aired my house out but it was too strong! When I came back a few hours later there was a pretty pungent skunk smell
I ended up moving it all out to my shed and have them hanging in a cardboard box out there, so they’re in the dark and maintained at a 50f temp at 50% RH.
Will be a slow dry - still smelling pretty strong after hanging for a few days but that’s good!
I let the cut flower hang outside in my shed with a heater and humidifier for 9 days. At first I thought I had let it dry too much! I think I trimmed at the right time tho - a bit a little dry (like crisped leaf) and some just slightly moist - but 90% was more than dry enough to smoke a j.
Here we go! The weight came in as forecast - about 120g overall. So not a great g/w ratio but about an ounce per ft2 which was kind of my minimum goal. That way more than I would consume in a year anyhow! (Lightweight )
Very happy with the yield off this one - it basically only took up 1 ft2. Similar scent to TP#1 - but has a deep earthy/funk under it. Not skunky per se - but you know it’s some bidness! I did not keep a clone and slightly regret that - it’s very nice weed. Stoney but clear, no spacing out - good focus. It didn’t meet my citrus criteria I was after though. I have f2’s of this and will have to run them!
This was my fav front to back. Upfront nice sweet berry smell, bit of weed/skunkiness in the back - but definitely berry. This met all of my expectations and wants. Very blueberry dominant - maybe GF in the bud structure a bit (but I’m no expert!!). Good yield, great smell, great looks. I haven’t tried this since I took a small nug at 8 weeks - I ended up letting the plant go 11 weeks so I imagine there will be a big change in the smoke. I have a cutting of this revegged and rocking, and (GF x BB) x TP seeds. Will be an interesting cross.
Edit - all 3 plants went 11 weeks of about 11.5/12.5 light (don’t ask me why… I just went slightly less and progressed to about 11/13 on/off)
