My grower friend in the high desert stopped by yesterday to give me some of the autos she just harvested and some kick ass pain creams she’s been making with thc/cbd. We like to share our grows back and forth cuz Chick Power, but as you know it’s a grower thing too. Anywho, she grew some Bloody Skunk. I’ve never heard of it before. It’s alright, has a skunk high, but smells and tastes like strawberry. No skunk smell to it at all. Kinda trippy. She grew out some white widow too. Haven’t smoked that strain in at least 2 decades. I have a bunch of the bloody skunk joints rolled right now, but I’m excited to smoke it once again. It’s been too long, lets see if it’s how I remember it. Also some amnesia haze and a tad of blackberry kush, which I’ll smoke one bowl of out of respect for my girl’s grow, but then give to my boyfriend. lol Y’all know I’m a wuss with the strong ass kush.
Since I’m on a skunk bud tangent When am I not on a skunk bud tangent? Anyway, my comparison grow of the UFS 18 aka Skunk 1969 vs… Skunk 1 grow this far… While the UFS is daintier, very sativa looking in leaf and bud structure, a stem rub smells like the exact same plant as what they sell as skunk 1 these days. My skunk 1 plant however, has wider leaves, but the same bud structure, but is a much more sturdy and obviously larger plant. Obviously, I have not smoked the UFS yet, but I can bet that they will be the same. I’ve never had such a certain reaction to a stem rub smell than these 2 plants. It is identical to what I’ve been smoking all year. They both have the same sweet citrus skunk smell as my last years OG Skunk. It’s good to know that number one has remained the same all of these years. Only difference is it seems as if the strain has been worked to produce larger yields and is probably more disease and pest resistant. It just seems like a heartier version of the UFS, so far without losing any of it’s magic. A few months will confirm that the taste and high is the same.
Next year I need to find some road kill skunks to grow. If anyone has an suggestions, by all means…
Meant to tell you all that I grew 2 plants last year that were from Pyramid Seeds, both were the only plants that got pm and one got bud rot too. Possibly a coincidence, but I’m not growing out anymore of their seeds. Just a heads up, growers.
I’m not suprised all your skunks resemble Skunk #1. Skunk #1 is a very worked line with very little variation. Skunkman Sam spent years breeding out the “road kill” traits from the line. I have seen RKS threads for years and I begin to doubt it even still exists. You might as well be looking for a unicorn IMO.
Well…HELL! Even if I never find it, I’m incredibly satisfied with Skunk 1 exactly how it is. I will however keep trying out different skunk lines, cuz I just love them. The high never gives me anxiety, it’s not the strongest strain, but that’s kinda what I like about it. I’m high, but still functional and it always puts me in a sociable and good mood. For me, that’s the perfect high. Funny too, everyone that I have reacquainted with Skunk 1 after all these fancy new hybrids has fallen back in love with it. IMO nothing needs improvement on the strain, it’s perfect. Some things really do stand the test of time. 50 years of perfection.
on another note @ReikoX Why in the bloody hell would people want to take the skunk outta the skunk bud? Fuckers!
So, I’ve got a common terpene in the Bruce and Blue Gelato. While completely different all together, I can separately identify a mint smell in both. Could even be a pine terpene, and why I’m so darned allergic to the leaves out there. I had the same reactions to the heavy pine in the Botafumeiros I grew last year. However, these smell more mint like. The Blue Gelato however has a sweet undertone whereas Bruce smells more earthy on the bottom note. I have smoked Bruce before and quite frankly it doesn’t stand out. Why I made it my practice plant. The Blue Gelato however, I have never tried. So far, the massive buds on it are making me happy. Hoping it smokes as good as it grows.
Growing skunky weed in prohibition land can lead you to jail. Sad, but true…
Anyone who lives in a nonlegal state needs to stay away from the Orange Goji then. It’s stinkier than even the strongest road kill. Man, I love that strain! It’s great the way it is and I’m not a breeder but I’m betting a cross of it with skunk 1 would be pure magic!! They both share a lot of the same terpenes and the skunk may take some of the raciness out of it.
The Cheese seems like it has been highly worked and incredibly stable as well. Another old skool win imo. Once I could get a handle on the stem rub, it is the same fruit and funk smell as it’s always been. The familiarity to these old strains thrills me. It’s comforting in a strange way. Maybe because, you always know what you are gonna get and I love the smell of nostalgia as a lot of these strains including the gdp I grew up smoking. Funny how a free gift with purchase seed can bring me so much joy!
Boy am I chatty Kathy today! Must be bored. Too hot and humid to be in the garden, so I guess the next best thing is talking about my garden. My pest control guy just left. I always feel a bit guilty when they come and spray even though, I have them mostly spray the organic stuff. Having said that though, their organic stuff is pyrethrum which can harm bees. I started this service in the winter as Dad insisted on it and is paying for it after the 2 trips I made to the ER last year from black widow bites. Even pushing 50, I’m still his baby, so those trips really freaked him out. On a good note though, I haven’t had any bites this year and when Dad crawled under the house for the new A/C circuit he said there was not a bug or spider anywhere. There used to be black widow colonies under there. I’ve seen a few on the wall across the yard in the flower beds away from the house, but I know to wear gloves when I’m messing around in there. Mostly though the larger population has been eradicated. Hooray! I seem to get the same service guy every time as well who is very familiar with my very particular instructions when it comes to where and what can be sprayed.
Maaaaaybe.
I gave some SilverOG beans away to someone here & labeled it “RKS-like, skunky, greasy”… & mama cured pretty damn nasty.
Got any more?? Hook a sister up
Who would have thunk to take funk out the skunk? Well, isn’t that just a reverse slam dunk?
Well with all the legalization someone needs to breed it back in Dammit!!! I need some road kill! Doesn’t the thought of it remind you of the 80’s? Oh shit, I’m dating myself
Cackleberry! This girl has been mostly ignored in my commentary and has largely been overshadowed by the massiveness of the cheese or the orange goji stench etc… certainly not to be diminished, she is gorgeous, fruity, very easy and all around lovely in every way. Whose strain did we preserve with this one? Sorry stoner brain. Anyway she’s got some dank buds on her
That would be a cool photo of the month
Hopefully that 1969 skunk turns out nice the whole garden is looking real nice
Blue Dream buds cuz Wow
But… so far the gdp has the most frost, too many weird shadows to capture in pics today though
haven’t seen the sun in about 10 days now…
That moment when you are plucking off fan leaves and disturb a sleeping spider in his daytime hiding spot… heebie jeebie dance "F*k Bro, you scared me! Sorry! Sorry! Carry on killing everything in your path you ugly bastard. Didn’t mean to disturb!" heebie jeebie dance
