Did you take pics of the carnage for the Ugly Plant Thread???

Meant to comment on this…

That’s probably why our UV index has been at 10 and listed as dangerous for months now! I didn’t know that, but I was saying to my bf that the sun feels like it is just piercing this year. Our weather report has had actual temps that are 10 degrees less than the real feel temps for awhile too. Even in the high 70’s here which is usually pleasant has felt like 90. Hot as the Devil’s Dick!!!

I was just outside feeling up my plants, doing stem rubs. Swear the cackleberry buds doubled overnight. Mighty buds for such a delicate looking plant. My dog the GDP smells good too! I want to rip it off the plant and eat it. Unfortunately, going by memory, the gdp is one of the indicas that’s too strong for me. I’ll probably never get to smoke it. Dammit! It smells so tasty! Why can’t indica just play nice with me?

@GMan my buds are really big for how early it is. I swear it’s the Mammoth P. It really does increase bud size. I am a true believer.

On another note, the garden is stinky enough and the buds large enough to attract moron rippers who may want to steal my premature bud. Gonna have to dig out the padlock. I mean it is like a mecca for stoners out there. Hell, whenever I open the gate and see those plants, the clouds part, the sun shines and I hear angels singing.  :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

And smog. Acts like a greenhouse & reflects it back down to improve your Cabana Boy’s tan. :joy_cat: :tropical_drink: :swimming_woman:

Really thrilled with it so far! We’ll see how it does closer to harvest when all the buds are super heavy. I think the cheese will be the biggest test. The best part is that the plant is so accessible when I need to get stuff done. The wire caging I used last year was a pita to get around

Everything looks great! I just can’t believe you have plants like that right next to your neighbors. Think u need a little more then a padlock. Maybe a couple German Shep

Mine are next to my neighbor’s bee-hives. Old man said “plant them close to the fence so I can pick some” :+1: :older_man: :tractor:

Attitudes are pretty loose about home-growing in a lot of California but there’s still plenty of places, probably most(?), where you shouldn’t “just let it all hang out”. Mostly an income level/economic class thing. …and if the air smells bad in general (like here) then nobody really notices. I smoked a bowl on the front porch yesterday morning & watched plumes of smoke blow across the street where 2 sherrif’s deputies were up to something. Yep. Keep goin’ hoss.

In contrast, I recently stayed at a hotel & had to go down 4 flights to smoke, so I often said fuggit & took the elevator back. Waiting. Door opens, strong odor of corporate whore perfumes blast me, while bimbo boobage & overstuffed shirt step out wrinkling their noses & pause “Mmm. :herb: Earthy!”
Me: “All day long…”
They burst out in drunken giggles like weed is something so alien & remarkably ‘dirty’, utterly unaware of truth. Treating a painful & disabling health problem. :pensive:

Next trip. Hotel employee in the elevator. So I asked if he minded the smell of weed. “Nah man, you’re all good” :sunglasses:

So gave him about an 8th to enjoy his evening with & encouraged him to grow his own.

It’s about “set & setting” :joy:

I have a pitbull, but she’s a house dog. It actually makes it less desirable for rippers that I’m in a neighborhood. My family has owned this land since 1948. My neighbors on one side of me have lived here at least 50 years and the neighbors on the other side at least 30 years. We have utmost respect for each other’s space and mind our own damn business. I also am good friends with my neighbors immediately across the street whose house was purchased by family members of neighbors who also lived here since about 1948. That neighbor in particular is in fairly poor health and is always home, she would alert me if something was amiss. Not sure how safe from rippers I would be if I lived in a different neighborhood. I don’t worry about cops cuz for the most part my grow is a legal one, well except for the plants over the limit. lol It would be extremely tricky for rippers to get in and out without being seen. That being said, where there’s a will, there’s a way, hence the padlock.

Jealous! From what Iv gathered when using refractometer and comparing measurements and stuff to get the best information from your new tool Brix should be measured roughly the same time every day to day or so cause the levels change throughout the day what time? I don’t quite remember Which is best think it was in some of those kitridge videos blurred lines indicate something important IIRCC , also picked something up from Ingham that they should be held up to sunlight also for the truest Most accurate readings

Get some handy dandy pliers

The watering around here is a total bear. These girls are drinking at crazy rates. Without rain, it seems like I just can’t water enough. I took off the hose end sprayer laid the hose in the cannabis bed and let it flood in at full force until I was sloshing through water to move the thing around to the next couple plants. I think that’s gonna be my plan from here on out. So much grass has grown back in there that I really need lots for it to get past it deep into the ground. The cheezus christ was fine everywhere but the very top of the plant, there just wasn’t enough water to make it all the way up there I guess. Whew!

Finally refilled the hummingbird feeder. The birds ignored it when there were certain flowers they liked back there. I guess late summer flowers aren’t their thing. Once they discovered the feeder, they sucked it down fast. I kept meaning to fill it up and kept forgetting. I hope they check back again to see if it’s full. It’s probably been empty for 2 weeks now.

Today is BT spray Friday. So far so good on caterpillars. I’ve only found a few tiny baby dead ones. The weekly sprays are turning out for now.

@Tinytuttle Duh! I had a chick moment, didn’t even think about pliers.

Right when I said that about the caterpillars. Found one on the cheese. Sigh. It is the time when they like the buds once they get sticky. Dammit Man! I already know that some are gonna get through, especially on the Cheese as she is so big I can’t possible cover every inch of that plant with BT. No matter how much I spray, some just won’t make it to certain spots. Oh well, it’s just a battle, not the whole war. They hatch constantly. I’ll just do the best I can and be diligent on my weekly sprays. Kill as many as I can. It’s still frustrating and kinda heartbreaking every time they destroy a bud though. No buds destroyed yet though, but it’s on now.

Shit. Just checked my calendar. I was supposed to do an aspirin drench yesterday. It’s already been 3 weeks. I’ll get it done tmw, since everything was just watered and it’s BT night.

Just watched the last video I posted from 15 days ago. Post 1161 I believe. The buds have tripled in size. Y’all need a new update. I’ll get on that this weekend.

Howdy.

A recent podcast has got me reducing water to 1/2 what I used in veg & spaced apart as much as possible. :thought_balloon: Especially for the in-ground plants.

The reasoning being something like, all the growth is done & the plant just wants to make flowers (way less overall biomass), so the waterings during flower are more like a “feeding”, where the top 4" layer of compost-rich soil is your “top-dressing”.

Here’s some good stuff:

(I’m trying to find the spot where the reduced watering is discussed, I believed by Ital Foundation’s Joel…About 49m in :ballot_box_with_check: )

I pulled out 2 of the transplanted ones(a herm & a male) & so inspected the roots. The ball was mostly in-tact with not much feeder root development after TPing but the water roots went deep. About 3-4’ deep there is a layer of impenetrable soil called “hardpan” & it’s possible that water at that depth is saturated & pooling, going anaerobic.

Heavy drenching was showing slight over-watering signs for me. So now it’s a balancing act. More like hydro… :unamused:

That’s exactly what iv been doing @Meesh. Garden hose on the plants over night. You can buy adapters and short length garden hoses so u don’t have to move the main hose throughout the night
