2020 Cannabis with Meesh

It actually seemed racier with the batch I smoked 6 months ago that I enjoyed. I believe the one my buddy grew recently was an auto version. But, it easily could have been the difference of when it was harvested, although I know my friend likes to harvest with amber. I am also just a weirdo and my brain may have just suddenly decided that it doesn’t like it.

I have a holy punch strain that I grew last year that I’ve enjoyed for months that has become way too strong for me now. Not sure why, I didn’t think weed could get stronger after 9 months, but it did. Even Dad who loves super strong weed remarked on it recently. I don’t know if something changed with it’s age or my brain did, but I can’t smoke it anymore. Dad is fine with it.

Oh, he’s gonna love that! He’s super proud of himself and has become the trellis legend in his own mind.  Seriously. I’ll let him know!

By ripe @cannabissequoia I meant at cloudy trichs. on the Blue Dream. I’ve never let it go to amber. According to the article I read, amber would be over ripe. Kinda like a browning banana lol

On a different note, the premature Blue Gelato 41 has been drying for 7 days now. I’ll pack it up on Tuesday to cure, It feels dry today, but I’m gonna let it go a full 10 days before it goes in the bucket just in case. So far, no mold is present as far as I can see. Seems we got all of the botrytis cut out and it didn’t go systemic. I think we pulled it at the right time.

Last year the 2 plants that had bud rot, the good shit and the jungle spice were too far gone at harvest and molded up during drying and curing. We ended up with just enough to try them out in the end. Pretty sure the botrytis had went systemic on those by the time we pulled them down.

So, I sit here a lot lately in the garden, looking at these giant plants now filled with buds and can’t believe that I actually did this. That I grew these bodacious plants from a tiny little seed. Kind of blows my mind

Flooded the beds after sitting out there in awe for awhile. It’s obvious from the above pic they wanted water. They should be happier now.

I wandered around looking at bud. I’ve picked out some caterpillar damage, I honestly didn’t look too close at the blue dream today as that’s where I find bud rot. For anyone who doesn’t grow outdoors. Caterpillar damage looks similar at the outset to botrytis, meaning you see a brown bud leaf and browning. However, pillar damage when you examine the infected spot is crunchy and crumbly and pretty much just flakes or crumbles right out when you dig at it a bit. The rot however is brown and wet and when picked at is mushy and mold will be found inside. On the fatter indica structured buds, if you get crumbly pillar damage you run the risk of water now getting inside that hole and causing rot. Usually on the more sativa spear like buds, you just pick out the crumble and possible a pillar inside and the bud just looks a bit ugly in that one spot and is no big deal (unless you get hundreds which happens and is terrible). I lost 1/3 of my harvest last year to pillars. If I hadn’t been spraying BT like a mad fiend this year, I would have the same problem.

I’ll go back out later with the clippers and examine the blue dream for rot. Sometimes I have to mentally prepare myself first, so I don’t cry or scream. lol

I’m gonna start experimenting both ways. Find out what I really like. I’ve noticed that you have a few strains that you really like to grow. Maybe try 1 plant at cloudy and one with amber and see what works best for you. Or even harvest some tops at cloudy and leave the bottom buds longer to amber up and compare. My guess is it’s gonna vary per strain. Darn it! Why does it have to be so tricky? lol

So, I just started having recollections of last year’s grow while I was in the shower. I don’t know about you guys, but I always get good clarity when I’m in there. lol

Anyway, I remembered that last year I harvested part of my skunk plant earlier than the rest. It had tons of pillar damage and pm, so I left all of the undamaged top colas on the plant and pretty much harvested the bottom half. I remember enjoying the earlier bud more. It had a stronger skunky taste and smell and was the giggle weed. The later harvest bud was more subdued in flavor and taste and still uplifting and happy, but not even near as giggly as the first batch. So, I’m def not letting my 2 skunk plants go to amber this year.

Also, remembered that I checked all the trichs on the autos I grew and harvested accordingly. The big girls I checked only once or twice when they were getting close. After that I just knew when they were done by looking at them, so I really can’t be sure of the exact state of their trichs. I do know that the DBHP was one of the last 2 strains I harvested and I had checked it until amber because it was racy when I tested it at cloudy. I’m glad I waited on that one.

Hey @Howard.Crane was it you that’s picky like me and doesn’t like too much body high or certain types of body highs from bud? It’s probably just me cuz I’m a weirdo .

It’s really early in the day for me to be smoking, but I can’t stay away from this fresh dried blue dream right now. It’s really tasty and obviously got me all chatty and social. Hence my 100 posts this afternoon.

That definitely describes me. I used to love a powerful body high in my teens and twenties, but can’t stand it now. My wife loves it though, as apparently it helps with her pain. I wish I got the same relief without it being unpleasant :frowning:

I still get pain relief just from the thc itself personally, but I hate any kind of body high that feels like buzzing or vibrating. Only the kind that makes my body feel heavy and sleepy. The buzzing and vibrating makes my aches light up like the operation game and gives me a weird anxiety to boot.

I was describing this once about a strain I was smoking that I didn’t like and I believe it was @Tinytuttle who asked if the strain had any thai genetics. Sure enough it did. Bummer. I used to love me some thai stick back in the day. I’ve been avoiding thai genetics since.

Whoa. I thought I was the only one who experienced more pain with certain types of body highs, lol. It can increase my nerve pain, and if I’ve worked out in the last couple of days, it makes DOMS so much more intense for me. Nobody else I know has this issue. And that can pretty reliably trigger anxiety for me.

Cannabis doesn’t help me with pain nearly as much as I’d like, unfortunately. A good happy high with no body does help, and it’s better than taking a prescription, but it’s just adequate to get through a day. I haven’t had a pain free day in thirty years, I’m just trying to live as normal a life as I can.

For some reason I seem to think that @Ghandisflipflop had the same issues. I haven’t seen him in awhile either btw… hope he is doing okay and is happy. Anyway, there are a few of us weirdos out there.

One of the biggest problems for us is that edibles would be a solution pain wise, if they didn’t cause that intense body buzzing. It’s really hit or miss for me there. It’s just too uncomfortable a feeling for me if it happens, to test different types of edibles. I’d rather be uncomfortable for an hour or two smoking if it happens than locked in an 8 hour body buzzing anxiety attack full of nerve pain. I’ve had a few edibles that haven’t caused this, but most do. I’m much too chicken shit to edible shop around now.

Yup! I don’t do edibles. Won’t be doing that again, lol.

I do make them for my wife though, they are great for her.

I’ve tested both of the premature blues today. fresh dried. The Dream is louder straight off the plant. Flavor coming through, major fresh sweet blueberries with a gas like top note that tickles your nose. The high is pretty typical Blue Dream (whew!). Less racy out of the gate, but does ramp up over time, but in a good way like coffee kicking in. Not too long lasting at this premature stage, maybe I was high for an hour and a half or so. I’m comforted that it will be good though, even if I’m forced to pull her early.

Tried the Gelato this eve, Not much smell or flavor fresh dried, the high has the same caffeine like sativa race as the Blue Dream, but the high is more subdued, less colorful more of a hazy high. Despite the coffee like energy and the slight heart race, the Gelato makes me feel quiet inside, unlike the social, outgoing I had earlier from the Blue Dream. The Blue Gelato high right now reminds me of the White Widow I smoked the other day. In a blind test, I wouldn’t be able to tell the difference. Nice high, low flavor and taste. Kinda like the water of bud. I’ll let you guys know what happens after the cure. Hoping the flavors come out.

Man, you may have to worry about the power company coming by now, to trim your trees that are growing up and into the power lines. lol :joy: wow… That’s the difference in high humidity and no humidity like here. I did get two very full 6 footers though. and a bunch of smaller plants in pots.

I had to wrap the two big ones last week for the freak weather we had. 98º for two days then a day and a half later it was 24º and 10 inches of snow… I lost all of my tomatoes except two young ones that I covered.

Back to normal this week. My igloos. worked for my big plants. They’ve really packed it on since then. That last two weeks of flower are everything.

I love seeing your urban monsters. Very impressive! I know you have to be proud of them. peace
