Seems I was wrong.
Oh… I didn’t know that
I thought it was just enough to cover shipping.
Yes, they are for supporting the server and also Sebring’s expenses in packaging and sending to distributors, he doesn’t keep the money.
Sebring is Overgrow 100%, he also generously freely distributes seeds worldwide to non OG members, but is in charge of Seed runs distribution since MomOnTheRun is missing , that change of distributors has affected the whole system, need to recover the routine of previous years …
I went ahead and signed up for my box. I know what seeds I signed up for. Sent him the funds for said seeds and if more are included, cool. But at least I will get what I signed up for. He has the link open for payment.
Funds donated are utilized to pay for costs. Postage, envelopes, containers, et al. Individuals supporting the effort can ask for an amount to cover their actual material expense.
Setting the amount was based on estimates to cover such expense. Amounts left over is donated to OG.
There was a discussion between those handling the co-ops on setting the amounts some time ago.
Do the other distributors already have a system in place to collect money for shipping?
I understand that @Northern_Loki. I’m not concerned about the actual pricing I just thought more went to OG. I thought the couple dollars per strain went straight to the server and then shipping to distributors
Traditionally, Sebring collected the amounts and the other fine folk supporting the effort can ask for reimbursement on their material expense.
I believe the original discussion on the topic did include such an adder. I do not have an accounting of how accurate the estimates were or the end-amounts donated to OG. Personally, I trust Sebring here. My involvement is ancillary and hands-off, so grain of salt with my understanding.
They normally use Paypal, they will contact you and let you know once they’ve got your package …
I’m in the US so I was just curious how the other distributors handled it. Thanks for clarifying @Northern_Loki
In Canada we will use etransfer for most and PayPal for the rest. Saves the PayPal fees for most folks.
A bit more info.
Once a distro collects $130 dollars of the money towards OG, not sure why its a $130, anything above that goes to the site.
The $130 is so the distro can have a balance to work with for re inbursing breeders for their shipping, and seed packaging, if seeds are sent directly from rhe breeder to them. If a breeder is reimbursed then the float gwts topped back up to 130$ and everything else after postage goes to the site.
Money collected for the site, does not get sent to Sebring, it goes straight to Joe.
If non US members pay for their seeds on Sebrings site as well as the shipping monies, those shipping monies will need to be sent to the distro of the country they represent by Sebring, which can get confusing, and as money crossing borders is done on paypal, it creates charges and loss due to currency conversion.
So its less work trying to figure out who has paid and for what, if only the US members pay on Sebrings site, and all the members in other countries just work with their distros.
That really should cover all the questions that keep getting reasked @Shadey. Thanks for making it much simpler. Where were you 500 posts before now?
Thanks @Shadey.
Sorry to disagree with you @George but we Canadians paid @Shadey for the spring box and it worked out just fine. If @Sebring wishes that be changed than we will follow whatever he says as he is the man in charge. His site states “U.S. OVERGROW MEMBERS ONLY⇐ (All other countries need to contact their region’s distributor.)” So I have to go by what he posted on his site and what @Shadey has instructed. Now I won’t be collecting anything until I get the seeds in hand for everyone so if @Sebring wishes these payments to go through him than he will have a chance to say so before I collect anything so no harm done. This method also saves Canadians a bunch of fees. I cannot speak about other countries, just Canada.
You are in danger of spreading misinformation , I don’t think the UK distribution has worked like that , Sebring did it like that for you , not necessarily everyone
We need to just leave it alone till it proceeds any further into the mud
Ok, I will delete them …
I already have a list of addresses provided by @Shadey As I say, I am only going by what I was instructed to do from our previous distributor. If Sebring wishes the way @Shadey was doing it changed than he just needs to say the word and we will follow whatever direction he gives. We did not pay through Sebrings site here in Canada for the Spring boxes and everyone got their seeds so clearly it works.
