Iād really like to, but I have three pollinations on deck, so it would be at least six months before I could do a reversal.
Now, if someone else wants to do a reversal, thatās music to my earsā¦.

Hey I totally get that.
Iām in a similar boat myself right now, but I am planning a cheese hunt run of multiple lines in the spring. ![]()
Iāve got some UGORG #1 bx from faithisyours, some of Santeroās Cheetos (Sour Diesel IBL x Exodus Cheese), hoping to trade for a UK cheese cut from Pigeonman, and trading some gear with Jaws.
If you want to wait, I will be doing some selections, seed increases, F1ās, and crosses of these, and would be happy to lend a hand with the Big Buddha if you wanted. Though that is absolutely up to you as we are both in that kinda occupied tent scenario. ![]()
Edit: Oops sorry @DietPeps I didnāt reply properly to your post here. Sometimes I forget which arrow to click for replying to posts. ![]()
It just wouldnāt be one of my grow logs if there werenāt setbacks would it? ![]()
After getting roots on my Dinafem Cheese #1 & 2, my dwc setup has sadly acquired a transparent slime on the roots. Its thick biofilm had surrounded the entirety of some of the plants, and has doomed this attempt at hydro.
After a bit of googling, it seems likely to be either brown algae or cyanobacteria, types of photosynthetic organism that exists in water. Sadly, as it forms such dense slime, it can choke out the roots in this scenario. While it is present in soil, it seems to have become the dominant organism in this hydro setup.
So as it seems I can never escape being an eternal soil grower, I have set out to transfer my clones to individual pots. Each is potted into pro mix, combined with bone meal and worm castings, drenched in worm bin leachate to hopefully add some competing microbes.
Hoping that this will save my run, and I will be running my hydro equipment through an autoclave to ensure that all traces of this slimy plague have been eliminated.
To quote a certain heretic:
āSo let it be war, from the skies of Terra to the Galactic Rim. Let the seas boil, let the stars fall. Though it takes the last drop of my blood, I will see the galaxy freed once more. And if I cannot save it from your failure, Father, then let the galaxy BURN!ā - Horus Lupercal
LOL, Warhammer referenceā¦

If you havenāt dumped it yet⦠try gently cleaning the roots in 3% H2O2 (hydrogen peroxide) and then throwing half a cup into the tank.
I managed to save a couple clones that way but it sounds like yours might be further along.
Cheers
G
Haaa nice pick up on that reference. ![]()
Sadly I had tried 2 attempts with the H2O2 with no results. The slime was just too powerful. ![]()
Next time Iāll see if I can get a stronger concentration.
Warhammer 40k. I dont play but I have read many of the books. āLet the galaxy burn!ā Is one of my favorite quotes.
It really is THE quote that defines chaos. Really gives that faction a mark on the setting.![]()
I used to play alpha legion against one of my brothers, but god damn, space wolf loyalists are tough! ![]()
Hereās an update for you fine folks on this lovely weekend!
Just look at that deep blue-green on the dinafem cheeses! Superb!
Everything has bushed out incredibly well, and despite some fruit flies getting into the tent (and me trying to coax the little bastards to get stuck on the sticky trap), everything is going well!
The biocontrol mites are thriving, so I havenāt seen any more signs of spider mites, and the plants are looking DESPERATE to flower.
Which brings me to the clones!
Black funk dawg #1 has been harvested for pollen.
My technique has not been great, as I have had to remove flowers prematurely to prevent cross contamination, however I did get some. There is a little more drying right now, and black funk dawg #3 is still maturing its male parts.
As for the cheese clones, they have started to show signs of pistils and I am still spraying them with silver thiosulfate. Roots recovered well, so Iām happy. ![]()
Iām calling it: 2 weeks from today I will FINALLY flip my tent into flower, aiming for a harvest sometime in september. ![]()
Go little UGORG, GO!!! ![]()
What a funky little thing it is too! ![]()
First time I rubbed the leaves of this UGORG#1 Bx, I got the nostalgic scent of sour apple chewits. A real blast from my childhood past in the UK.
However as it grows, it has a real weird funky note; a little skunky, a little sweet, maybe cheesey. The smell seems to change as I rub it at different spots. Really excited to see where this goes as I left years before I could conceive of trying real blues, so it will be interesting how it interacts in this seed.
@VRG props to you for breeding such an interesting strain. Is the chewits smell likely coming from the blues in this cross? ![]()
Bad news, Black Funk Dawg #4 is male. ![]()
His stem is now showing alternating growth and no hairs. After examining with a magnifying lens, I could see balls.
Downstairs he goes, I guess.
That leaves just Black Funk Dawg #2 as a confirmed female.
I will be hitting her with the pollen from #1, 3, and 4.
At least we will be getting some genetic diversity, so itās not all bad. ![]()
Look into an H0Cl generator. Will cost you prob 150-200 canabucks but ITāS A GAME CHANGER.
I used to WATCH because I couldnāt afford the parts to play which is why I was more of a D&D guy.
But regardless hereās a song from a band that oozes Warhammer as they sing of your soon to be success against the sludge @TheHereticCatgirl
![]()
Yoooo thatās actually really cool, I was not aware of such an acid generator. ![]()
I take it this thing would be used in a recirculating system, right? Like Iād loop it through, and it injects into the return or something? ![]()
Also same on the dnd front. I used to play more warhammer, but with my family being a bit dispersed these days, the price, and not a local game group, it just isnāt feasible.
That said, speaking of warhammer music:
BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD, SKULLS FOR THE SKULL THRONE! ![]()
The generator gets you 1-1.5L using water kosher salt and white vinegar. I use this via a dropper to add to my feeds and reservoirs depending on the stuation.
I also use it to spray down my plants to fuck with the pathogens, and use it to clean the house.
Weirdest and most hardcore roleplaying game i ever played was Heros Game System. Itās point based for character get so your always balanced and the possibilities are endless!
I played a psionic that lost a major fight and was a brain in a jar with 1 ryr floating around like a sperm.
So i had 360 degree vision and could float around in this jar and could kill with a thought but my characterās dating life sucked.
A lot of the animeās coming out now with rediculous themes remjnd me of the characters i used to make.
A half gianr that was trained to brawl but born to cook, always distracted by meal componenta usually in the heat of a battle.
A giant extra fuzzy space hampster with a Kinder for a pet.
A tinker gnome that had a fond ess for erxplosions, loosing his arm he built a new one with cool featurws and it occationally explodes uf i roll a 1.
![]()
Okay I think Iāve heard about the Heroes system. From what I remember it has quite a bit of crunch to it, right? ![]()
Gotten quite into pathfinder recently for that reason myself. Honestly those characters you made sound off the fucking chain! ![]()
![]()
Urrrghhhh.
Must my life be constructed of suffering eternal?
Like Sisyphus, I am seemingly doomed to see my progress roll back down the hill right after I have pushed that boulder up.
It seems that my clones have not taken well to the move to soil. Sadly #'s 3-5 are doing horribly, despite having tried to accommodate them with humidity bags initially. Looks like they will not survive into making reversed flowers. ![]()
Thankfully 1 and 2 are still around; #2 is the one I care about the most tbh. It has the best cheese smell so I am hoping that it will at least produce some pollen for me to seed my tent.
Alongside this, the mite presence has gone up in my main tent, so I have applied 500 Neoseiulus fallacis mites to knock them back before I hit 12/12 next Sunday. ![]()
(The sawdust on the plant is the media the mites are shipped in)
They say that failure is the best teacher, and I agree⦠but man it sucks when you are going through it.
With Dinafemās cheese not being widely available anymore, I really just want to get this line preserved.
Thankfully I have taken explants from each plant I am growing and am hoping to keep them preserved in tissue culture in case I need to try again. However, that process will take a good few months before there is anything close to a viable, rooted plant that is ready for the soil.
I got away from desktop roleplaying when i had a moment and rwalized i got skills and am an adult so i can do what i want within reason. So in college i made a chainmaille vest (steel, it can take a hit), and hardened leather scale maille armour.
I cut the scales from hide and soaked them in amonia/water which leeaches out shit resulting in touch as nails hide armour.
Itās on a dummy made from me in a shirt i was wearing when a friend helped me wrap myaelf in 4-5 rolls of duct tape and the cut me out of it.
Cheap and exact dummy form.
I got kicked out of most larps because i hit to hard for larpers, but i am not brutish enough (or have the income) to get into the SCA.
![]()
Regarding sad clones, have you tried yelling at them to get their shit together?
Itās negative reinforcement for the plants but very theraputic for you.
![]()
Damn that armor sounds so sick!!!
I think, given your aptitude with the medieval weapon, you might want to look at HEMA martial arts. ;D
Anyway I shall be sure to give the clones a good talking to. Theyād better perk up or there shall be hell to pay! ![]()
Gave all the plants a good pre-flip defoliation to open up the canopy and expose as many tops as I can.
This should hopefully give the spider mites less hiding places and allow more airflow between the plants to prevent botrytis. ![]()
When I flip these ladies on Sunday, I shall be giving them a bit more N to see them through the stretch, and a good feed of silica to maintain stem strength. All the leaves have been placed at the base of each plant to act as mulch (because damn it is hot rn), and to give the predatory mites somewhere to lay eggs and climb back up.
The predatory mites are active, but from my scouting, the spider mite population is sadly thriving.
Itās not even been 5 days yet, so I have to give it time, but Iām hoping that the predators can lay enough eggs to keep them in check over flowering. ![]()
@TheHereticCatgirl thank you and yes most probably!
itās the closest flavour profile to artificial candy I know of. When combined with cheese it becomes something else, you will see. Good luck with them ![]()
