Ha awesome! I am definitely interested in the get together. I am not too far from you all. I’m about hour and change north of you.
I was wondering if I am unable to sign up for a camping slot if I could still swing by and say hello?
Would that be a possibility? I’m getting hitched the 24th and I would love meet up with y’all but I won’t be able to camp out. @Ris.

That was @mota and I on the way up last year. Found a cool little place off the freeway under a bridge behind a lake on railroad tracks. Now that I think of it, it was a perfect smoke stop.
As you’re going north on I-5, you want to be in the right lane as you cross the bridge over Lake Shasta. Take the first exit. I don’t remember what it’s called. Be careful, it’s easy to miss. Once you’ve turned right and are heading back towards the water, it quickly becomes a dirt track, but you just keep moving forward. Soon the track will turn to the right again, this time back towards the bridge. Keep going and soon you’ll be under the bridge.
I would not suggest going down there if you’re driving a low slung car. A truck is best. There are some deep ruts.
It’s a little bit noisy, but it’s a great view of Lake Shasta that you don’t otherwise get because you’ll be so much closer to the water.
It used to be much cooler, imo. You couldn’t actually get under the bridge because the bottom of the bridge was closer to the water. What you could do was get right down to the lake, and, of course, because you weren’t under the bridge, it wasn’t nearly as noisy!
I’ve been taking that little turn off for more than 50 years!
