I need to change my tent. Had the luxury to run two 4x4 for the last 8 years! Now I need to scale down, and settle for either a 2x4 or a 3x3.
Can you please help me make the right choice? Any experience with these sizes? Looking to grow 1 or 2 plants at a time.
It’s almost like witch one will I hate the most?!! I’m moving in a 470 sqft condo, space will be an issue, and also the need to scale down everything to mendatory keep it stealth.
There is more than floor space, it’s also how the air circulate inside and the light distribution.
Thanks for your help=)
I run 2x4 with two plants. You could check out my run if you’d like
I live in a small condo and have no room for a 3x3. It would stick out too much.
A 2x4 hugs the wall.
I’ve got a 2x4 and a 3x3. I prefer my 2x4 I can get three plants in 5g pots in my 2x4. The 3x3 feels awkward, harder to fit multiple 5g pots in my 3x3. The 2x4 also feel sleek and it’s is easier to stuff in a corner of a wall and forget about. Personally, I don’t hate my 2x4 espically as it sits im only pushing 4 plants out of my 4x4 lol.
OK! I did not expect that !! Almost bought the 3x3 before posting. It’s hard to look inside my beloved 4x4 and imagine loosing that much square foot!
Question to you, 2x4 owners, Does it become an issue when larger pheno surprises you? I’m not concerned about the 4, I’m worry about the 2 in 2x4?
Nope I prefer 2x4 all day bc most of them 60 inches which is plenty of head room.
2x4 would be my choice as well…however, let me throw a wrench in things and suggest this tent which is more like 4.6x2.3x6.5 high
In a 2x4 though, if you are doing soil, 2 city pickers fit in there perfectly, easy 3/4-1lb output potential
Im also gettimg ready to set another tent back up. Im leaning towards my 2x4 over the 3x3.
I think the 2x4 is perfectly sized for 2 plants.
I ran a 2x4x72 ACI tent and loved it. Easy access front and back.
I did occasionally run into headroom problems despite installing the exhaust fan and filter outside the tent. The ladies grew into the ceiling and I had to gently bend them down.
I solved this by adding a 2x4x84” Gorilla Tent.
But I agree with others in that the 2x4 is just a perfect sized tent for most applications.
Wouldn’t like a 4x4 or 5x5? Heck yes! But I simply don’t have a spot for that size tent.
Good luck ![]()
+1000 on the 2×4 suggestion. It might just improve your garden husbandry and training. The easier access makes a big difference—while it may feel like you’re giving up space, you’ll still have plenty to work with.
I use my 2x4 laying on its side for a 2x6x4 footprint, gives me a bit more space for mothers, or projects. These are all freshly lst and hst. I let them recoup for 2 days installed nets and flipped.
This run is for my sfv og reversal
If going for a 2x4 the one thing I would suggest is getting one that is taller. Most seem to be 5 feet tall but they do have ones that are 6 feet or taller. Lack of height in my 2x4x5 is always my biggest complaint.
I agree. Same experience for me. Taller is better I think. ![]()
I run 2x4, i think gorilla tents have an option for taller 2x4.
They do. I find most are 5 feet but they have a few that are 6 feet and Gorilla gives you the ability to go as high as 10 feet depending on your space. Gorilla tents cost more but give upu some great versatility.
That will be my next tent. I wasn’t aware they could go up to 10 ft. I knew they had the expansion ability but that is awesome.
I have the spider farmer 4.6’x2.3’x6.5’ from SALE [2025 New Arrival] Spider Farmer 4.6’x2.3’x6.5′ 140cm x 70cm x 200cm Pro White Indoor Grow Tent 2000D Oxford Cloth Hydroponics Plant Growing Box - Spider Farmer CA
and it pretty comfortably holds 3x 3 gallon plants, and a 1 gallon, but would probably do 2 or 3 5 gallon plants no problem!
Standard theirs are 6’11" and come with a 1 foot extension. You can buy the 2 foot extension. 7’11" would be plenty tall.
I’ve got the same one and a very solid tent. The nice thing is that I can use a light I’m running in my 4x4 if I need to and have a bit of extra room.
