I’ve used jars with good seals and it worked, you’ll see the bud sweat and turn wet. You want to be careful at this stage. Practice makes results. You’ll be checking it often anyway starting out.
Leave it too long you’ll get ammonia weed. When done right it has more couch-lock properties, burns slower and tatse killer.
