Getting a bunch of these soon and their mixed. Acapulco Gold and Thai. Any way to tell the difference, as they grow?

how have they been stored? seeds can start to lose viability after a few years if not stored properly. Might need someone with a tissue culture lab to get something that old going. then again you could still get a decent germ rate don’t know till you try. Old unworked thai has a tendency to be intersexed.

Sooner rather than later. Depending on quantity obtained, do a quick germ test for viability. See if anything pops…

may throw a few, but got an auto I really want to do. First one I ever grew. Now I have better light, and more knowledge, (air circulation I learned on that one) and the fact she was pretty, has me wanting to tackle it again. I will update if I go ahead with this

you don’t have to grow em out for a germ test, just see if they make it to the seedling stage… then chop… Again, depends on how many seeds you have… a coffee can full, or just a few…
Had twice as many, before I did the crush test. Big question is: How will I know which is Mex, and which is Thai?

Try them and see what kind of takeout you start craving?
Maybe look up Thai and Mexican landrace strains and see if there are differences in leaf shape or internodal spacing? Beyond that, I’m sure someone that knows more than I do will have input!

Well, the Crush test was a good idea… Maybe get what’s left in the fridge/freeze. besides preserving the seeds, it tricks them into sprouting faster when they warm back up… Man, I’m pulling for ya… I would just germ a bunch when your ready to roll, since you don’t have that many and have no idea if they’ll pop or not

my monies on the, will not grow, too old and not frozen… I have a bunch in old film canisters from the same time frame, dead as dead… no sprouts

Gonna give it a go. Have about 8 soaking in a shot glass, and after 24 hours, plates, paper towels, and see what sprouts. Going to hold off on starting my fem, till I see what sprouts
