A Shadey spot to grow, Perpetual organic no till

Weedly Update.

So this week I have been on cruise control, waiting out the flowering plants finishing. Its actually a nice break not having to think to much about whats going on. The ambient temps have been perfect this week with rain at night and sun during the day and temps around 75F RH at 60%.

Checking the OG and GDP last Monday found more mites on both even though they have been separated with the OG on the deck, until I brought it in last Sunday. So I have decided to test the Home Defence Bug Killer Strip fully and put both the GDP and OG in the veg tent with it, that way I can run it in there longer and see if it actually works, its been in there 10 days now, and I am just going to make some fem seeds with the STS and bin whatever is left after I have collected them.

So all that’s left in the Clone cab is 1 Purple Kush which has doubled its size this week after it was re potted into a 5 gal pot, under 40w of sils on 20/4. I was going to do 10 gal pots but changed my mind I can get 4 X 5 gal pots in the clone cab. The clover is growing fast, as well as some alfalfa now. It looks like it started some pre flowers already, but I need my magnifier to make sure. I was going to STS her as well but I will do one of the others I am just about to start.

In the Veg Tent, a pic through the window because it stinks bad when you open the door, and that Home defence strip is toxic. The strip is hanging between the 2 plants. I have no fans running in there just a light.

In the Flower Room.
Temps have been averaging 78F with RH around 25%. The CCK are doing OK but not grown much after their big defoliation, they are at 8 weeks now.

Bigger of the 2, getting some good trich production now.

Smaller of the 2.

The White Diesel X Ghost Rider was getting chopped today as its 9 weeks from flip, but I am hurting too much atm, to make the effort. So maybe Tuesday as its not raining, as it has mites and I want to trim over a tarp to put all trimmings in the fire pit and sterilize the tarp which will stay out of the workshop as well.

Close up. still throwing out the odd pistils here and there.

The TER will be coming down a couple of days after, the WD X GR, depending on the weather, as she is 9 weeks as well, but I will leave the 3 branches that have been pollinated to keep growing until I chop the 2 CCK.

Couple of pics of my worm bin. Its surrounded by Organic Hay bales to keep it warmer in winter. A couple of bags of Ocean mix compost filling some gaps.

Inside some hay on the top for the worms to eat as well as keep them warm, and Alfalfa growing in there as well, its 3ft high and 4X4 ft wide and half full of soil and compost that they are working on.

Cheers for looking.

Chopped the White Diesel X Ghost Rider yesterday, not a big yield, due to the mite problems and heavy defoliation I guess, or the strain is not a big producer. I would guess somewhere between 40g to 50g when dried. Fully trimmed and washed it all up, this time with Hydrogen Peroxide and water. trimmings went in the fire pit and burned. There was a broken branch with some dried bud on it, so I will be giving that a little test today to see what its like, once its dried out from the wash fully.

Drying on the rack.

Its very resinous, I could have had about a 1/4 gram of scissor hash off it, if it wasn’t for the mites. Nice bright orange pistils as well.

I went to check the GDP and OG in the veg tent with the home defence bug killer strip, pulled a couple of leaves of each plant that I marked with DE as I saw eggs on them, the last time I looked. Spent 10 minutes trying to work out why my scope would not focus.

The magnifying end had unscrewed itself some how, and was missing, so spent another 15 minutes looking around, where I last used it, and found it on the floor behind some pots, luckily intact. So if you own a digital scope, check to make sure your center piece is not coming unscrewed, I had to remove the plastic skirt on the end of the scope to screw it back on. All back together now and seems to working as normal.

The home defence strip is working well. All the mite eggs have gone a yellow, brown colour, and I cant find any mites on the other leaves I checked either.

Going to leave them in there for another week to make sure, I am surprised its killed the eggs. When I pull those 2 plants out of the veg tent and put them in the clone cab, I am putting the bug killer strip in the flower room, the TER will be coming down Friday and the 2 CCK will come down in another week.

I also found some PM on the plants, which poses a question I would like to ask to our seed breeders here, will a plant that has PM used for making seeds, produce seeds and plants from those seeds with a genetic disposition to having PM as it is systemic or does that just apply to clones?

They work, but they are just as deadly to humans as pests. Please, do be careful with them.

Yeah I got a bit of a sniff of it again, when I pulled the plants out to check, my throat is feeling rough now, probably psychosomatic lol, but I am wondering if I need to wipe down any residue in the tent and everything in it, when I take it out, It says on the packet just don’t live in the area its being used in, nothing about lasting residue.

Some of the leaves on the GDP that are right next to it are doing a funny concertina thing on one side of the leaf so it pulls it away from the strip, like when I apply to much Safers end all occasionally but that affects both sides of the leaves.

Would you know if seeds made from plants with PM make plants with a disposition towards PM?

All I can say is like begets like. Will they carry PM, no. But obviously the parent is susceptible to it, and that trait will likely carry on to the progeny.

Cheers man, I wasn’t thinking of it that way, but you’re right on the button, and good to know its not a genetic pass on in the seeds.

I was kind of expecting it to develop in the veg tent, as there is no airflow in there at all and the humidity is around 50 - 60% lights on, I haven’t checked what it rises to after lights off, because I am tucked up in bed lol, but its probably higher than the 60%.

I will STS them anyway, I haven’t had problems with PM on them before now, with these crappy conditions.

Glad you like it so far.
In my experience when I had mites they always gravitated to the best plant then so on and so forth.
Sounds like it could be a headstash plant.
I got a couple of those, not produce much but killller.

HardRock gave it to me, I know he got some of your seeds in the fund raiser, was this one of yours🤔

Chopped down the Tranquil Elephantizer Remix today, did the same as the WD X GR. Fully trimmed and washed it all up, this time with lemon juice and bicarbonate of soda, to see if its any different to using the Hydrogen Peroxide and water. Trimmings went in the fire pit and burned again.

I left the buds that were pollinated on the plant so they can get maximum maturity before drying. Removed all the trim and leaves to get rid of as many mites as possible.

A close up they are a really nice dark purple in areas, lots of trichs as well. I can see some seeds in them I think.

All washed up and on the drying rack. Nice dense buds again with lots of resin.

Close up again.

Got my Med licence back today, they have started it for June 7th so I have gained 46 days on my last one lol only took 5 and a half months.

Some yummy stuff there Shadey!

I’m going to pick up some OSB next week and knock together a new grow space. Smaller than what I’d originally designed but built so I can easily enlarge it to what I planned. The biggest hurdle is clearing out enough space and finding room for what needs to be removed.

Looks like one of my Earth Lovers outside is going male so I’ll just have one of each outside. :frowning:

All that’s left inside is one Earth Lover now. 3 out of 8 girls but I’ll plant some more for indoor breeding and make some fem pollen so next year I should have all fems to plant outside. The EL I have inside will likely get the STS and be the father/mother of a hopefully all girl new generation.

FFS I just did a very good hunt on those Monkey Banana Kush plants I’ve now moved downstairs and found a live and very active adult thrip. Mixed up a new batch of Safers with canola oil and soaked them all down good including the one earth Lover female. Hopefully the 17 other plants still in the small pots didn’t pick up any. No damage on any leaves of those except one and I hosed it down too.

I took the males upstairs under the T-12s and haven’t decided whether to collect pollen from them or not. Maybe the Earth Lover then I could use that to pollinate some of my good THC strains to introduce CBD and autoflower genes to them. Then it’s years of selecting to get a decent cross.

Probably better to STS the one good female and use that to save a bit of work.

:peace:

I keep forgetting to get a new spray bottle for the STS I want to start spraying the purple Kush auto and the GDP and Orange Goji, I am hoping this bug strip has killed all the mites in the veg tent, if I don’t get some air movement in there soon the pm will kill the plants off, so I think I am going to pull the bug killer strip out of there now. Then put some duct on the extraction fan and vent it outside for a day, the fumes are pretty toxic.

I will have to keep an eye on the earth lover and dragons tongue seeds when I start them, at least you don’t have to wait to long with autos to know what sex they are.

Weedly Update.

Had a tropical storm come through last night, dumped a lot of water, wind wasn’t as bad as they said it was going to be thankfully. Its been raining on and off all week, with temps in the low 70s F except for Friday when it shot up to 86F for the day.

Made up 3 more 5 gal pots Monday, added extra perlite and peat moss to the mix, to bring the N down more, the #1 PK auto was suffering for the first couple of weeks, but its looking OK atm.

Started 3 more Purple Kush in the clone cab on Tuesday directly in the soil, they were above ground on Friday.

PK #1 starting to get to grips with the hot soil now, clover is starting to come up as well. Going to start some STS treatment on those lower bud sites this week if I can get my arse into gear and remember to get a spray bottle.

3 new pots jammed in under the light.

Close up on one of the seedlings, they like the 20/4 light schedule, they only broke ground late Friday night.

In the Veg tent, through the square window lol, the long suffering OG and GDP I am going to sort them out tomorrow, and pull the bug killer out, and start prepping them for 12/12 and some seed production. I am going to re pot in the same pots, but remove the majority of their soil, and just add more perlite and peat moss.

In the Flower Room.

CCK are doing good got a little mite damage but no where near as bad as the WD X GR or the TER, going to check their trichs this week they are at 9 weeks from Flip atm.

Close up of some buds, they smell good and fruity atm as well as being quite frosty, looking forward to trying these out, was hoping for better yields but heavy defoliation didn’t help. I will be doing more of these later in the year I expect.

The pots that are resting up and waiting to get broken down and re mixed to lower the N in them, the alfalfa is going strong in them and in flower. That will all get chopped up and put in the worm bin, not sure I need more N in there though lol.

Cheers for Looking.

Cheers man, you will soon see your prodgeny in action lol.

Just spent the last hour battling and cursing a lot with 10 ft of uncooperative ducting, trying to get it hooked up to my exhaust fan which seems to be back working again. I was just about to take it off the wall to get it out the way, and thought I wonder if its the speed controller that isn’t working properly. Plugged it in without the controller and off she went lol. Venting toxic fumes out the veg tent now full blast.

I will give it an hour should clear everything in a few minutes but I want to make sure anything that absorbed it will gas it off, and out through the duct and not into the room. Getting the duct on a 3/4 inch flange at arms length stretching over the clone cab with your head at an angle that puts your glasses out of focus is very frustrating and painful with a fucked neck. I had to take 3 breaks so I didn’t lose my cool and trash it all lol.

Fumes from The bug strip thing? Had it seemed to work for you?

Yeah fumes from that bug strip.

I think so, time will tell, any mite eggs I found on the plants in there, have gone yellow, orange to brown and I didn’t see any mites when I checked last week, Then I need to put a new tarp in the bottom of the tent and move the autos in there, hopefully they will stay mite free  I will get the GDP and OG out and give them another look over later, before I put them in the clone cab to flower and the autos in the veg tent. I might have to chop them about, they have grown a bit and will double there size in the stretch but I only want seeds from them, so they dont need to be big.

Like I mentioned above, it worked great for fleas in my house. My cat was getting bald patches from numerous doses of drops (including a heavy duty version from the vet) and multiple flea baths. The house got cleaned top to bottom and sprayed multiple times with raid and other stuff. Within a week of hanging that strip in the living room they were all gone and never came back.

Sounds like it may work good for indoor gardens too

Come to think of it, the gf has one hanging in the spare room by her tropicals which is the same room as my tents in… makes sense why I havnt seen bugs in there even with all the plants and foot traffic
