A Shadey spot to grow, Perpetual organic no till

Right, cultivar depending, we should be able to increase photosynthesis yield lengthening the day. Most if these flower in the 13-14 hour time frame.

It would be interesting to try that, start at 14 hours and after 2 weeks if the hormones have not kicked in fully and buds have not started developing, drop it down to 13.5hours and see if that triggers it. Once you know what each strain requires to trigger flowering you can put them straight in that at the start.

I guess it comes down to the costs of extra light against extra harvest % generated.

I am running 20/4 in veg, not much difference with LED and then when switching to 12/12 plants do notice the change and it’s easier for them to start flowering … :sunglasses:

Now that makes a bit more sense and about what my girl is getting now. Dark at 7:30 last night and was 8:30 just a week or so ago.

No damage to my girl from her slight freeze and I got the sensor working again. Thought it had lithium batteries in it but was just Duracells. They tested just below the green on my tester so put some new Energizer lithiums in it so should be good for a couple years at least. The sensor I keep in the carport has lithiums in it as alkaline batteries crap out when it gets below -20 or so.

I still haven’t heard back from TheWaterGuy people about the power supply for the UV sterilizer unit. It’s rated as putting out 44v AC but I tested it and it puts out 123.1v and my line says 120.2 so what’s up with that? Think I’ll test the bulb for resistance then add that resistance to the power supply and see if the voltage drops but I don’t think it works that way.

Thinking of adding a DI filter too now that I have 4 housings and they make one that fits the standard 10" housings for only $35. Should get 0 ppm water for the plants out of that. Also thinking about adding one of those mineralizing filters for the drinking water part but would need another by-pass setup to get water without that for my BUNN coffee maker or it will eventually start plugging up. Those things are $135 tho and I already have $445 invested in this project.

Might end up needing a pressure booster pump too. There is one of those on-demand 60psi pumps hooked up to the water distiller so might be able to use that but not sure. My jet pump for the water supply kicks in at 45 and out at 65 so hopefully that is good enough.

Thats usually the way it goes for me, you think you have everything needed as advised, and then you start finding out its not quite the plug and play you were expecting and need to buy more stuff. Its always the incidentals that cost the most money as well :frowning:

Just been out for a rummage in the worm bin, 1 and a half shovel fulls worth of soil to top dress the 3X 5 gal pots with the GDP in and some on the 4X 10 gal pots produced about 30 big worms lost count of the little ones, saw lots of cocoons as well  Think I might have a fungus gnat explosion in the veg tent soon there were quite a few gnats running around in the bin. The worms I could see went into the 10 gal pots.

I settled on a calcite/carbon filter to use to polish the water and add some minerals for $34. Keeping the filter housing I thought I needed to send back for it and getting another bracket to mount it, few more ball valves, couple of Tee fittings to have 3 different water streams available and a proper tubing cutter so the ends are all nicely cut so another $100 and I should be done. They shipped it yesterday so should have it by Tuesday like the others. I can pick up a carbon pre-filter locally for $12.

Could it not be that your fungus gnats are coming from using unsterilized additives? You should see if you can get some of that Gnatrol stuff to get rid of those damn gnats. Just a natural bacteria so fits with your organic growing style and shouldn’t hurt your worms at all.

I do have predatory mites in my soil, so I am just being precautios with the yellow stickers, the last time I used this sea compost mix, it was straight out of the bag, instead of running it though the worm bin, and after the first 2 weeks of using it, it got real bad lol. Currently I see maybe 1 or 2 every couple of weeks.

If I get another plague of them I will get more predator mites they wiped out that last lot in about ten days, after struggling for a couple of months using gnat dunks, yellow stickers and spraying around the pot bottoms with safers end all. The best $35 I have ever spent on pest control.

Now the weather is cooling down the pots are staying wet longer, especially the 10 gal ones waiting for plants to go in, and that’s ideal conditions for little barstards.

Cooling down is right. Was -12.5 when I went to bed at 3am after 5 hours of trimming up one lower branch. Had to throw a big blanket over the back of her little house and turn up the heater but kept the temp up over 40F. She’s looking thirsty so I’m warming up and aerating some water for her and will give her 12L for a little drinky-poo.

Nice and sunny this aft but still -5 so left her closed up for the most part but open now for an hour and still 47F with the sun. The water should be ready and a nice 79.5F then I’ll close her up again.

Sounds more like plummeting than cooling off, glad I am here and not there. I don’t want to see -12 until January, preferably not at all lol. She can’t have much longer to go can she. She will be handing you the machete soon and asking to be put out of her misery lol.

Weedly Update.

In the breeding Cab my one branch of GDP male flowers is doing fuck all basically :frowning: dropped a few flowers, cant see any pollen on the parchment paper to save my life. FML this GDP does not want to co operate in saving its genetics.

In the Clone Cab, things are going OK, I say tentatively lol. Tried checking the sex today on the OG and SDXSL, with the scope but still not seeing anything, other than stipules, to indicate it, so they are going to have to wait a little longer before getting up potted into the 10 gal pots. They are 7 weeks from hatching now, thought they would have something to flash at me. The OH and OHXPAC are 18 days old now.

In the Veg tent, its not so good, the GDP are looking very pissed off at being re potted twice in 3 weeks, but it had to be done, its just going to take time to get them happy again.

The empty 10 gal pots all top dressed and wormed up ready for the OGers and SDXSL. I saw one fungus gnat this morning and killed it, I am a heartless bastard lol. Hopiung those worms start tucking into the half avocado in each pot soon and make some babies.

In the Flower Room.
The poor GDP all by itself at 8 weeks from flip now, very sticky and smelling rather strong. I will give the trichs a check over next week, see how far along they have to go. I have never had buds this small on a GDP not sure if its the STS or the small pot that’s caused it, but its got a bit more time to fatten up those colas.

Cheers for Looking.

Weedly Update.

In the breeding Cab not much happening couple more flowers fell of and thats about it. I am a bit disappointment with this experiment, so I need to try again and see if it can be improved on. Lots of flowers just no pollen :frowning:

In the Clone Cab.

Seedlings are doing well.

OH and OHXPAC starting to catch up on the Ogers and SDXSL in height.

The OG and SDXSL are now picking up after bveing topped although a couple have ignored it and and still are only producing one stem. They are needing watering twice a day now. I checked there sex again yesterday 1 still not showing anything, 4 look like girls and the real tall one that I have to keep stacking down looks like a boy. I am going to give them another week in there to re confirm that before up potting them.

In the Veg Tent.

The GDP are starting to come around again but taking their time. They got some fermenting wine to keep them company. They got a 1/4 cup of organic malted barley powder each on Tuesday not been watered in yet, and is starting to produce some nice bacterial growth on it from the moisture it has sucked out of the soil.

Couple of shots of the empty pots they got some OMBP as well this one is starting to get some bacterial development going.

This one has a lot going on. Seeing more fruit flies than fungus gnats atm, must be from the avocado halves the worms are munching on.

In the Flower Room.
Nothing spectacular happening here either, Her trichs are nearly done I will probably chop her next weekend.

Cheers for looking.

Thats an awful lot of MBP in my experience. I like to use 1 TBSP for a 5-gallon pot like that. I’ve burned plants with MBP before.

I think I will scrape some back up and put it in a container, to use for a bacterial tea later then, if you think I have used too much. I don’t want to start burning everything up again, I will probably water in what’s left today, they must be getting close to needing a watering.

Well things are not great in the veg tent, all the GDP have mites so they got burned this morning, the GDP in the flower room was clear but got chopped as it’s done, so no more GDP  still got lots of strains that are just as good or better, it was more of an emotional attachment to that plant, as it was the second strain I started to grow here in Canada. I can’t be bothered to keep fighting the mites. So I am going to clean out the veg tent and flower room, try and keep the Oger and SDXSL a week longer in the clone cab until I can sort the rooms out properly.

Started another Sebs Rev CBD as well on Friday, that’s above ground now.

You can’t win with the damn bugs eh!

No, :slightly_frowning_face: I don’t have the energy, physically or mentally to try and save the plants, only for the mites to appear again a couple of months later. Clean sweep and see what happens with the plants in the clone cab, once they go in the veg tent.

Might be putting the house on the market early next year, prices are rising rapidly in our area atm, and I think we are heading for a recession next year, after the US starts it’s civil war after the election.

Although it’s not quite ready to make maximum dollars on it, it may be viable as people are offering more than asking prices with people wanting to get something outside of the city with a bit of land, they are tired of being stuck in their apartments in the nice weather. Prices have jumped about 30% this year.

So may have to shut my grow down while we are selling it.

I agree no matter who wins we all loose, on this one.
I believe we will see turmoil like we’ve never seen before.
