Greetings Overgrow!
I’ve been reading, learning and I’m a bit overwhelmed with all of the impressive information, wisdom and wit here on Overgrow. What an incredible resource for my first grow here on Heritage Hamakua Coast of The Big Island of Hawai’i.
It is with wide eyed excitement, a hint of trepidation and just enough fear that I set out on this quest back in January to produce my first harvest in Hawai’i. I wanted to wait until I had some progress to show before posting on Overgrow so this thread will begin showing what has been done and finish up at harvest time.
I’m Looking forward to sharing this inaugural grow with the gang here on The OG and making some new friends in the process. All comments and suggestions are very much welcomed, I’m here to learn.

So, Let’s Do This!
Day one 9/9/2024 0800 Aleutian Standard time.
We begin with WidowMaker seeds (White Widow x AK47 created by @repins12 and gifted to me by my long time amigo @grouchyoldman).
The seeds are soaking and my Greenhouse is set and ready for a hybrid, LED-assisted Big Island enriched soil grow.
The WidowMaker (WM) seeds from were snuggled into their warm moist paper towel. Upon opening them up this morning it looks as if they are doing well, and on the way to a new home in the cubes. Aside from one who seems not want to come out of her shell
One of the little sprouts has a curly pig tail, I have my eye on that one.
I’ve been advised that growing under a roof with artificial lighting will help manage the challenging conditions for growing in Hawaii, so I’ve been shopping for a good grow light. My order was placed for this light VIPARSPECTRA 2024 XS1500 Pro LED Grow Light from the amazone. The waiting game begins as to which “free shipping method” they will choose. By air or by sea?
