I’ve been at this for a long time and I have never seen this before. I was scrolling through Facebook and one of those dreaded growers groups had posted this picture trying to figure out what happened. Typically you have a bunch of inexperienced growers commenting that it’s a swollen calyx lol but I see something else. The plant itself is an auto, fairly healthy looking but this. Have any of you seen a pistil coming through a hermi sac? So bizarre, I feel like if you stressed an S1 this would happen, it would hermie but not create the right parts cause there’s no male chromosome to begin with? Thoughts are always welcome ![]()
True hermaphrodite…
Notice there is a nanner in there too.
Cool sight in theory, death sentence for the plant though lollol
True, I’ve just never seen a pistil and a pollen sac teamed up before. The only logical explanation I can come up with is that this is a S1 seed that hermied involuntarily rather than genetically. Where it’s trying to self reproduce but can’t ???
S1 can stress herm (through bananas/balls) and will look the same as stress hermed reg. plants. In my experience. I agree with @toastyjakes its a true hermaphrodite.
I saw a couple of similar flowers on my last grow.
It’s a question of degree though. I decided to let it ride while keeping a very close eye for viable pods and didn’t get any.
The ones in question finished seedless and just fine.
