Adventures in seed poppin and pollen tossin

originally these were bred to withstand the rains and humidity of the california emerald triangle and to be fast finishers. I have had some go 49 days and go any longer they start to lose the flavors and aromas. I would say 8 to 9 weeks for any “fast” kush type but we will see.

On my calendar I allot 10 weeks for everything, from the first day of 12/12. I like to get the longest flowering lines going first so they get as much benefit and don’t end up needing a heater to finish in the fall.
I was going to flip everything in 3 groups but I am backlogged and behind so it’s going to be 2 groups. Also the remaining plants in #2 pots won’t be going into #7 pots. I’m gonna run out of soil so they will all go into the standard #5T and that should work out fine. I might have to paint them white though LOL
I’ll try and get some pictures of the jungle this evening when i go out to get more clones cut

managed to grab the pics off my camera from yesterday but also managed to delete a bunch of them instead of saving them LOL Really baked this morning… had a shitty sleep last night.
Been in a lot of pelvic and lower back pain the past week… which has been par for the course since '97 but it’s nagging on me hard the past week and everything is delayed and should have already started flowering… fuck.
Whatever… I trudge on. I am going to thin the herd a little though as the greenhouse and light dep room only have so much space and my plants have just gone apeshit the past 2 weeks. I had to top the 2017 shishkaberry B1 and I will be topping the Lui x G13… I have let them get way too tall LOL Gonna kill the one LUI x G13 male… the late showing one is a sticky stemmed and extremely stinky male. He is getting clones taken from today. I have a feeling he will be kept in my breeding program going forward.
I took clones from all the Long Valley’s, the 2017 Shishkaberry B-1 , Lui x G13, and the Mikado x Tropicanna cookies (F2). They are in the house at the moment just sitting in a sunny window. We are overcast with cloud and forest fire smoke coming in from far away fires.
Lots of lightning last nite and not much rain. Those that know me a few years will remember my grow seasons spent on evacuation alert with fires all around. I miss winter already LOL
Gonna take another batch of cuts from the rest of the keepers and later today I have to go put the sf4000 up and get these clones under it. Still have some clean up to finish in the indoor grow rooms before I put the clones out there.
So…Here are some pics from yesterday and I’m gonna take more today.
Topped Shishkaberry B1

Batch B smaller plants to be transplanted and flipped at months end or sooner

Biker Kush group

The Chem D … pretty neat looking plant. I have 2 so will keep one as a mom and flower the other

Clones batch 1 , day 2

A really cool garden visitor sitting on a leaf of the Mikado x Tropicanna cookies (F2)
Not sure I have seen one of these before so any ideas on what it is would be welcome

as you can see, the plants in the #7 pots are getting big … real fast LOL

Grape Pie in the 15 gallon tote

OGKB2.0 in the 15 gallon tote. Doing a bit of training on her to even out her tops.

OGKB 2.0 , 18 gallon scrog… this was a beat up haggard mother plant that was taken as a clone last season and nursed through fal and winter in a #7. This plant is so vigorous and after skirting her and tying her down on the first net… Look what she has done since then… little over a week to get to this… ready to flip I’d say

Here’s a shot of the Pink Kush clone in her 15 gallon tote and she is making the best of it. Gotta flip her soon too but not quite yet.

and last pic of this roll… The Pre 98 Bubba Kush S1 … she is keeping up with everything else in the garden and drinking hard. I need to do a whole lot of pruning and some training on this plant and fast LOL

More pics later… but as you can see… I need to get things tamed and a bunch of plants into flower or they are going to literally “overgrow” my greenhouse HAHA!

till next time my friends

Impressive setup.

Might look impressive but it’s bare bones all around hehehe
I owe the health of my plants to the @TomHill , water only , basic soil recipe. It has been passed around the internet , saved from the archives of the original OverGrow. I find it grows really nice plants and fast and come harvest time there is no excess food in the plants as they burn nice and clean and tasty

I am really hoping my efforts this season won’t be for nothing… the last few days we have been on edge as big dry thunderstorms rolled through igniting a bunch of fires along the way. It is so smokey here you can barely see 100 yards. Giving me a headache let me tell ya.
Too smokey for spotter planes so no one really knows where the fires are locally but they are burning… that sharp bite to the smoke means it’s not far off.

Not shitting bricks here yet but I am getting things organized just in case. My cousin is on his way to drop a 30ft trailer in my yard in case we need to load up the plants. Way to much work has gone into pheno hunting for my breeding projects to see even one plant get destroyed or tossed.
Otherwise… things are rolling right along

this was yesterday drivin home from the post office. Today it’s wayyyy worse

@shag @TopShelfTrees1 @SmokinJoeMGF , no road trip for me boys… I’m on fuckin firewatch for the forseeable future. Once again the Universe is conspiring against me attending that reunion. :frowning:

I think anyone could understand you can’t just walk away right now. Take care and stay safe @SHSC-1 …and if it turns to hell, just get yourself out of there. No plants are worth dying over…even if they’re almost worth dying over.

Hmmm Ya I’ve been here before on the edge of my seat. The Elephant Hill fire burned a massive area of BC a few years ago and they finally stopped it 9 kilometers from my door. I spent that summer by myself with the dogs and the greenhouse while 4x4ing backwoods “roads” to get equipment, food, water and first aid supplies to uninsured home owners we knew that were right in the flames and would have lost everything. BC fire service wasn’t putting thier union workers at risk and were actively trying to intervene in attempts to resupply the home owners. That was from the Gustafson Fire that burned at the same time as the Elephant hill. Our entire town and most of the region was evacuated… thousands of people and they all had to roll right past my house to escape. It was surreal watching hours of vehicles , loaded to the max rolling past my place in a line doing 20 to 30km/ph.
Then 2 years ago the Moose Flats fire came danger close and there were several fires locally that were all hands on deck and in the sky , all summer. Again I spent the entire summer rigs loaded and ready to roll and on evacuation alert. They almost evacuated the town that time too but they did shut down and evacuate the hospital and all the care home residents and all the staff. So again… me and the dogs and the greenhouse all summer in a smoke filled haze.
We are fully insured so I don’t mess around. If the fires get close to us we will have all the essentials and everything else can burn to the ground. I’ll get a new house and shop out of the deal so there is that…
All that said… we aren’t in any danger here as far as I know. The fires that are smoking us out are a couple 100km away. Some would say… ahh that’s too far too worry about man… I said that the year the elephant hill fire started in Ashcroft … a 2.5 hour drive way doing 100km an hour on the highway. That;s the one they stopped 9km from my door that year.

I can’t like that, but it’s quite the story. Good luck my friend.

@SHSC-1 I remember you having to move everything before. I was blown away at your dedication to moving all those plants.

ya a couple years ago we had everything loaded and moved to a friend’s place and then back again. A few of the plants stressed out and threw late nanners but nothing that affected the crop too much as far as seeds go.
Last year was my cherokee wreck and my friends moved all my plants while i was in the hospital and off my feet. If it wasn’t for friends and family last year I would not have had a crop at all. Fucked all my breeding plans but i’m trying to catch up this year.

It sure does suck living on the edge like that no doubt, not knowing if you will have a home after events like this, spent a few weeks at a time a number of summers in shelters and being stranded at home due to hurricanes in FL. I hope everything goes OK for you this summer @SHSC-1 , doing my rain dance for you well rain without lightning dance… good luck to you up there in Canada

I’m sorta in the same boat. Had to spend my vacation money on car repairs and a new washing machine.

My back hurts just thinking about working on vehicles. I worked on machines my whole life. I left my vehicles to someone else. Not being a great car mechanic anyways, I figured I kept someone else’s kids fed.
I’ve always been good about maintenance.

car repairs… my dodge is parked… needs a new rad that costs at least a grand… needs new dana 60 brake drums at 575 each… so 1150.00. Needs the steering box rebuilt or replaced … 350 rebuild, 850 new unit… and she needs all her filters and fluids done… and lots of other things.
The cherokee … the whole front end was done including steering and suspension bushings all around. New front driveshaft assembly , new track bar , ball joints, steering dampener… total bill 4400.00

I sure do miss those days when I could flip a crop for 2800 a pound…

It annoys me when other things take time away from my plants. Except family and a couple friends. They get a pass most of the time.

I like projects and bulding things so depending on the job… I do most of my own wrenching.
Next project is getting the leg back on my 19.5ft four winns and testing the motor that was rebuilt a year ago and still hasn’t seen the lake yet LOL She won;t be on the water this summer I’m afraid. No time.
I’ve also let my greenhouse turn into a jungle and the plants are a lot bigger than I had intended.
I have to flip the works over the next couple days.
My males are all inside now on the 12/12 so at least I am making progress.
Everything is in it’s final pot now and I literally had “just” enough soil to pot up the last females which were the Fire OGKB f2. So the recycled soil is all in use and I can start making a new pile from all the pots of the plants that have been culled.
Gonna take a raft of clones tonight and tomorrow to go with the3 full trays I have rooting right now. LOTS to do in the next three weeks and I have a fresh roll of string and wire and all my plant stakes at the ready.
I’ll take some pics once everything is organized

Hey @Cannabinoid . Great spot you found for the reasons you listed and lots more. @SHSC-1 saved me when I had one of my early indoor grows get away from me. One of many helpful folks here.

ahhh you guys are too kind… makin me blush hehehe
I haven’t updated lately … kinda caught a cold bug a couple weeks ago and threw me off my game. Been trying to get rooted clones of everything before I flipped and my cloning abilities have never been great LOL. So what was supposed to be a staggered light dep starting 3 weeks ago has led to everything starting light dep at the same time… and a bunch of my plants getting much bigger than planned. Should be okay as long as i can fit them all in the light dep shed as they blow up into flower.
I’ll try and get some pics rolling over the next few days.
Males have been on 12/12 for a little over a week now and I have been applying STS spray to the ogkb 2.0 … too early to tell yet so hopefully this works.
Fun times ahead
