good morning OG
Things are happening fast in the greenhouse as the climate here edges into fall.
It happens real fast and it’s suddenly winter LOL
Anyways… I give the light dep 10 weeks , harvesting in first week of October at the latest if I can help it. By then the sun angle and day length is just not supporting vigorous growth and molds will set in for sure.
So today is day 52 for the garden and while some plants definately go the full 10 weeks, a bunch are near done and I am watching trichomes as the plants begin to yellow out and fade.
Other than the feeds in weeks 4, 5 and 6 , the have been getting water or water and 200ppm gypsum. I think from here on out everything will be getting water only.
The Long Valley Royal Kush plants are all finishing fast and look to be 8 weekers as they stopped pistil production a week ago and are nugging up real nice. The green ones have nice dense flowers while the purple ones are a bit looser and leafier. The purple ones are crazy frosty though. By smell my two favorites are the green #1 and #7 and the purple #4 which is the one I hit a small side branch with ogkb 2.0 reversed pollen.
So I’m going to be looking at chopping the long valley royals after the weekend and perhaps one or two other plants.
The 7gallon grape pie is finishing faster than the one in the 15gallon tote. I figure its the cold ripening them quicker when they are in pots vs totes due to the soil volume insulating the bigger plants roots. Who knows but I see cloudy with slight ambers in the Long Valleys and in the one grape pie. Oreoz is in the group I am watching too. It is so purple it looks like a japanese maple , same deep rich bloody purple and the flowers look almost ripe to me as they also stopped producing pistils several days if not a week ago. The frost on her is ridiculous and lots of cloudy trichs but no ambers yet.
So I am really pleased with the early finishes on the LVRK. That plays well with my plan to cross the line with Friesland next year to see if I can get a hybrid with the friesland early flowering trigger and hardiness with the LVRK flavors and potency.
Be nice to not have to light dep and have reliable seed for my short season without reverting to autos.
My body can’t do another season of this manual light dep … my back is screamin LOL almost to the finish line.
Here’s some random pics from today

there’s more… let me grab a coffee and a joint… be right back

took a bunch of pics yesterday morning as harvest begins.
Unfortunately I took a bad fall yesterday morning in the greenhouse and needed an ambulance ride. Couldn’t move or feel my legs for the better part of yesterday but as the swelling in the spine goes down the feeling seems to be coming back. No walking for the next few days the doc says
I was so panicked yesterday I figured my growing was done. Even messaged @LemonadeJoe about selling off my seed collection… crazy but my excuse is I was on heavy drugs at the time. We’ll see how I’m doing in a few days.
My camera is full of pictures I took just before i wiped out so I’ll get those cleaned up and posted in a bit.
Harvested 4 of the long valley royals and today the 2 mikado x tropicanna cookies are coming down. Nephew and my youngest son arrived last night to help me around the house and the garden which is awesome. Will probably harvest a few others today and tomorrow and a few are going to be left till next week as they have seeds maturing and will need the full term.
I’ll be back with pics in a bit.

thanx man. Anyone else would have gotten right back up and kept workin but I have existing issues that have kept me on disability since 1997. The fall aggravated my pre existing issues which has happened before. Luckily no permanent damage this time and just tweaked the vetebra and left sacroiiliac joint enough to cause major swelling that pressures the nerves to my legs. Painful as all hell too but I don’t want sympathy n stuff although I appreciate the comment.
I keep dodgin bullets with the wheelchair LOL Back when I had my workplace injury my specialist told me to expect to be in a wheelchair by 50 and to try and stay as active as possible in the meantime… I’m 54 now. 3 years ago I ended up in the ER via an ambulance ride… walked out 2 days later… then last year in spring but still winter conditions I was in a roll over crash in the 95 cherokee that damn near could have killed me. Swerved to miss a moose on the icy road and ended up off the embankment and down into the trees. Woke up in the hospital a couple days later. So last year my nephew and brother saved my greenhouse and helped me pull off a decent finish.
Figured I’d make it thru this season without incident LOL guess not.
I’ll be on my feet again in a few days but might have to rethink my hunting trips this season.
scary shit though when you can’t feel or move your legs… I gotta be a bit more careful I guess eh?

Sorry to hear about your fall, dealing with chronic injuries is a real pain in the rear, glad the fall didn’t do any permanent damage. You might have to take it a bit slower on the grow operation.

ya… no more light dep for me. Gonna have to grow more indoor and plants that will finish here on thier own which will be a challenge … but that is for next year LOL
Some pics from before I took the tumble.
2017 Shishkaberry pretty much ready I’d say

The 3 Biker Kush … they are pretty much identical except very subtle differences in smell. They have at least 10 days to go.

and these are it for now.
I’ll be on my feet in a few days I’m hopin
Harvested 4 long valleys and the mikado x tropicanna cookies f2 #2 so far. Tomorrow the Grape Pie and the Oreoz will come down except for the pollinated branches. Those will be left to finish up the seeds they contain. I’ll leave a few other lower branches so that the leaves can provide energy to the seeded branches.
Anyways… here the rest of the pics.

Pink Kush (clone only)

Pre98 Bubba Kush S1 (verdant green) 2nd pic is kinda fuzzy but best one i could post
Mites pretty much left this plant alone it’s whole life until about a week ago and seems this plant is now attracting them big time. Too cold not for them to proliferate much and I do still see predator leaf hoppers doing thier thing so not gonna fret too much. This one should be done by end of next week

hmm what else…
The last Long Valley Royal Kush and one of my favorites. She was pollenated on one branch down low so am just giving those seeds time to ripen. Will chop most of this plant over the next few days. Such sweet floral gas comes of this plant and she is covered in fine trichomes that are getting into the 30% range. I am really looking forward to getting these cured up hehehe

now the scoutbreaths from chunky’s bagseeds… I am crushing hard on these plants and wish they were 6foot monsters but they will yield very well for thier size. Super dense chunky flowers just caked i greasy resin heads… like the best smelling confectionary/bakery shop you can imagine with a dank fuel … just killer!!

and last one
Stat Line ( @Tonygreen 's tortured beans)

so that’s it for now
want to thank a few of you for your kind words. I do work very hard to have the greenhouse plants come close to indoor quality and it’s nice to know that people notice  Here at nearing 52north and 3000ft elevation in western canada, growing is a real challenge and without light dep , none of these strains would be done until late october into november. Done that once the first year I grew in a greenhouse up here and it was a real challenge.
So that’s it for today’s update. Thanx for following along !!

well… its been 16days since my last update… time flies eh?
I got back yesterday at 4am from the long drive home from deer camp.
Was an amazing and very satisfying trip spent with my younger brother and one of my closest friends. My friend arrived on sunday and went in and fetched my treestand ladder from it’s hiding place. He got it all set up and hunted the monday, seeing lots of does and fawns move through but no bucks in his sight lines.
Brother and I arrived monday evening and since brother wanted a day to sleep in as he works graveyards and his body clock was all messed up. So my friend and I hiked in to the spot and got set up in the stand. Within 1/2 an hour I caught movement to the right and the first deer we see for the day was a nice fat Blacktail with a 2x2 rack. I nudged my friend and pointed to his gun so let him take the first one. The morning hunt was over for him so he snuck over to the animal and dragged it out. That left me in the stand alone for the remainder of the morning and the animals were moving through the spot continuously. Lots of healthy does moving though and almost every one of them had a fawn and many of them had twin fawns. It’s really great to see the herds are so healthy this year and the high fawn numbers are great to see.
So I’m in the stand and here a soft grunting off to the right. A few minutes later comes a group of 3 does with no fawns and they are coming right at the stand from the right. They get to about 40feet away and out from behind one of the big fir trees that block the sight line steps this huge bodied buck with super thick antler beams… he presents for the shot and it was a very quick kill about 10 yards from the stand. He was a real challenge to get out and off the mountain so I hiked down to camp and got some help.
The hiking was really hard on me but I pushed through for the reward of a freezer full of my favorite meat. Next day my brother and I hiked in and really didn’t see much at all except for one group of does and fawns. The evening hunt was much the same.
Not discouraged , on thursday morning I forced myself up at 6 am , made some coffee, rolled a few doobs and after confirming my brother wasn’t up for the morning hunt I made the torturous trek up to the treestand. Saw a doe with triplets at first light which was cool to see. The fawns are so small and cute LOL I love watching the deer, especially the youg ones as they frolick around and piss off thier mommas. One little buck fawn started trying to hump his momma when she stopped to have a nibble out in front of the stand. Her reaction was a slow soft kick , putting little buck on his ass LOL. I need a go pro camera.
So it was a steady stream of does and fawns all morning … probably saw at least 16 deer go thru from sunrise to 11am. That is when I heard comotion and lots of pounding deer feet sounds off to my right. Not sure what was going on but all of a sudden a ice 2x2 comes trotting down the chute from the right and presents himself straight out in front of me. I made a “bahhh” sound and he stopped in his tracks. Another swift and efficient kill and I punched my tag. My brother heard the shot and within a 1/2 hour he was comig through the bush down behind me to help me drag out the deer.
That was it for me , my tags were full so my brother had the option to stay aor head home. He was sore from the hiking and hauling and decided he would follow me out.

So that was my deer hunting trip in a nutshell. I know many folks aren’t into the hunting but I live and breathe for fishing and hunting and having wild meat and fishes to consume. We were made for this but modern foods prevail for most folks. I am not going to post the hunting pics in this thread but there is a hunting thread on the site so might post some there when I get them cleaned up and editted.

Now for the garden… Today is day 75 flowering and 7 plants remain. The OGKB 2.0 in 15gal and 18gal totes, 3 Biker Kush V1F3, GSC and the Chem D.
Gonna start harvesting those over the next couple days. We have had awesome daytime weather here this past week and nothing but blue skies again today. It is getting below zero at night now though with frosts every morning. Plants look great though, no molds, mildews or insects and looking like they are all making a strong finish.
I’ll take some pics in a bit and update the thread again this evening

Sounds like you had a blast. I’m not a hunter, but I’d never say no to meat from a hunt. I’ll eat anything. I have no problem with it whatsoever. Trophy hunting I have a different opinion. Glad it was successful for you and now you’ve got a full freezer…makes for less stress on the ol’ pocketbook too!

was just discussing trophy hunting on another forum … I think the term Trophy Hunting has been weaponized by the Anti Hunting groups. Trophy hunting in africa for example, offers a hunter an amazing experience and the dollars and more importantly the meat , bones and hides from the hunts is used by the local people. This keeps the local people from heading out hunting “bush meat” in uncontrolled and unsustainable fashion.
Decades , even a 100 or more years ago , real and wasteful trophy hunting was a thing but I like to believe that era of hunter is long gone from modern society. Most countries regulate hunting very heavily and by law , it is a crime to waste an animal for the sake of the trophy antler or skull or whatever. There are people with lots of money to spend on tags and flights and accomodations and generally it is the smaller more remote communities that benefit. Whether that is by direct employment in the guide outfitting business or they might be a community receiving the meat that can not be legally exported to a hunter’s country.
The economic spin offs are real and as long as the meat is not wasted… I do not have a single problem with Trophy Hunting (as I understand it).
I don’t fit the bill as a trophy hunter because I primarily hunt for the meat. However I would be lying if I said I did not appreciate and get excited about harvesting what some consider a trophy animal by whatever means of trophy measure one uses. I have a full shoulder mount deer on the wall… it is my trophy. I see it that way because it was my first solo hunt and my first big interior 4x4 antlered mule deer. I shot it on November 11th 2006 , Canadian Rememberance Day. I was hunting with a surplus world war 2 lee enfield bolt action rifle, wearing my clothing under my camo that belonged to my late grandfather who served in ww2 and wearing a poppy on my pocket. It was a very special day and it culminated in the chance meeting of me and that deer. I also see it as my “hunter graduation” deer as I had longed for a big interior BC mulie since i became a hunter 8 years earlier.
anyways… that’s my take on trophy hunting hehehe

I know many don’t like firearms or hunting and I respect that , but being in one of my threads you will come across that content from time to time and I will endeavor to keep it respectful.
Harvesting is in my blood. , it’s not really something I have a choice in. I would feel incomplete without it.
So speaking of harvesting… the last 7 plants come down today and here are the final pics of outdoor lightdep 2023 in the Strawberry Patch
Chem D … filled out pretty good for a small plant. First time growing this clone so will see how she runs indoor next.

GSC - same thing, haven’t ran this cut before so probably could have pushed some food her way but she finished okay for a small plant.

OGKB 2.0 15gal tote

OGKB 2.0 in 18gal tote… more fade on this one but she is a much older plant being a mom I slow vegged from last summers clones. She yielded really well too and the flowers on these ogkb 2.0 plants are rock hard they are so dense. Luckily no molds took hold this year.

and the last three plants are my F3 of Karma Genetics Biker Kush original version.
#3 and #5 are being kept as clones and I’ll cull the #2 clones going forward.
