Adventuretime86's Bespoke Cannabis Diary, Everything For Ganja Here

Hey fellow OG’ers! Welcome, come on in have a toke and make yourselves at home. Thank you for stopping by to check out my very first Long overdue seed to harvest OverGrow log.

First, I want to acknowledge all those that came before me; the growers, stewards and pioneers of the plant, those that built this awesome space for all of us to share our experiences with Cannabis. Also, want to give a huge thank you to the many members on Overgrow that have helped track down genetics, contributed their own time work and effort. To those that have shared with me, I am both humbled and grateful.

This thread serves as a written and digital diary as well as a collaborative infographic, meaning your posts are welcome.
That being said, please try to keep comments on topic for the ones searching for information. Thank you in advance.
If you have something you’d like to discuss off topic, please feel free to direct message me anytime.

Super excited to finally get the grow fired back up after a year long hiatus stemming from a series of unfortunate and fortunate events.
Between equipment failures at critical points in the grow / harvest, losing whole crops to bud rot followed by pest infestations in the mother room while away on a trip, it seemed I couldn’t catch a break. At some point I decided to toss everything and completely nuke the space with ozone and bleach. After I gutted the room, I started designing something more automated with redundancies built in to key equipment. I was very lucky to secure 3 used, scyence dragon sl 600’s, an Agrotek grow controller, flood table and a fifty gallon barrel for the reservoir. I settled on a 2 gallon flora flex kit for coco and the turtle paced race to rebuild the room was on. After months of R&D, helpful pointers from peers, testing, several changes to plumbing, equipment and layout, this is the setup I decided to run with.

Some things about me.
I have a Deeply Rooted Appreciation for finely worked genetics, Rare, Loud Tasty Terps and memorable Heady Highs.
Thinks about Cannabis constantly.
A newb to growing, started in 2019 and hooked for life.
Problably thinking about Cannabis.

Neuro spicy with a dash of OCD, maladjusted to the norms of society.

Now for the meat and potatoes.

This will be a mixed media run starting in soil and finishing in coco with mostly organic inputs.

My germination technique.
4 cups filtered water 80°
Smidge of Fulvic Acid,
Humic Acid,
Enzymes,
Pinch of mycos
Couple drops of rooting clone gel
Less is more here.
Mix well and serve over ice what you did there.
Cups go on a heat mat set to 81°f.

Lovin In Her Eyes - Banana Bayou was first to pop in under 24 hrs and all but 3 pbb have tails showing around 36hrs. After signs of life I moved them to little starter cups with domes, the following morning a handful are already on the move. The soil that was used to sprout is cheap store bought ammended with home made worm castings, rice hulls and some bennies. I have hope that combined it will be enough to carry them over until the transition to one gallon coco pots. Click to read MORE

Regular seeds are placed on a heat mat to help keep the environment on the warmer side, above 79°F below 84°F. Found that for me, personally, a higher ratio of females present when starting under these conditions. For any that may doubt this technique, you can say what you like, so far I’m happy with the results. This may change in time, could just be getting lucky given I tend to only a couple seeds from multiple packs.
Curious to see what the F/M ratio will turn out to be? Stay tuned

72 Hours in and we have several helmets pushing through.

After a few helmet assists and a handful of seedlings stuck under large aggregate and turning to mush I went ahead and put a few more seeds down to soak. I’d prefer to have better soil to start them in, next time will be trying out a worm casting / perlite mix, after reading through some @JohnnyPotseed threads.

Seedlings that did not survive e poor starter mix.
Cap Junky S1.
NLC.
LLL.

When in doubt get more seeds dirty lol.
Reinforcements:
2 Banana Daddy R1.
1 Durbin nights.
2 Cap Junky S1.

This time around Durban Nghts comes out swinging, producing a tail in less then 8 hrs, by far the fastest germ time I have seen to date.
I’m really excited about this strain from Brothers Grim. While on a trip we stumble upon Good Day Farms Eagleville Dispo, while there found some concentrates by Elevate called Jasmine Thai, man was I in for a treat. Really pleasant, long lasting Terps and awesome cerebral high to boot, the type that you just keep reaching for. And so began the very short hunt to find the strain responsible. After some sleuthing I figured out that Brothers Grim was the breeder, woohoo! I had just scored several packs from them during a sale and much to my surprise I had the very pack I was hunting. :crossed_fingers: Hoping to find something similar in Terps/effects. will be taking clones of everything. May try my hand at making some fem seeds, possibly crossing the Durban Nights to Bodhi’s Dragon Blood Hash Plant. After reading into descriptions of the DBHP I have a feeling they may pair well together.
Even though some seedlings were lost to poor starter medium, I am very pleased with the line up and looking forward to getting to see a nice variety of expressions, flowers, tastes and smells.

Okay quick update on the babies. 11/01/24 We are at day 14 from putting them in starter cups. I’m pleasantly surprised with how well the little ones are taking given the sub par starter mix. Everyone is looking happy and healthy, a few have some catching up to do other than that; I am happy they are happy.

Officially moving out of seedlings stage and into veg.

Today is the first watering since going in the cups and for me marks day one vegetative growth for the sake of keeping things simple since they weren’t all sown on the same day. To give them a boost I’ve added in a little mycos, enzymes, rooting gel, molasses and a smidge of recharge. Soultion is 350 ppm at a ph of 6.0
They will stay in these pots till next Sunday then into one gallon coco pots, followed by a worm casting tea feeding.
after another 2 weeks in one gal’s they’ll get up potted to their final 2 gal’s and flipped into flower a week after that. :crossed_fingers:

This brings us up to date for this thread, I will do my best to update here every Sunday from now till harvest.
If you are following along after reading through thank you glad to have ya along for the experience.

If you have grown anything that’s in the lineup please feel free to share, pictures, and relevant information, things like:
Key Phenos to look out for, Plant morphology, terps, highs etc.
Sensitivity to Nutes,
Growth Patterns,
Light Sensitivities,
Resistance or Susceptibility to things like:
Powdery Mildew,
Bud rot, or Boytritus,
Root Rot, or Septoria,
Pest Resistance or Susceptibility.
Or if you were just really happy with a particular plant that grew flawlessly and checked all the boxes for you.
Until next time,
Stay lifted growchacho’s

I dig the setup. Love seeing people going the extra mile in their rooms like this!

what brand of inline pump are you using?
:arrow_down_small: :arrow_down_small:

Is the 3/4 bib there in the event you want to hand water? I’m curious of your watering layout.

Outstanding and glad to see the BBD is still carrying on. It was originally made by @anonymous4289

The funky pheno was pretty damn good and the most potent of the group. Very burning rubber terps with a back end of that acidy vomit smell lol definitely funky for a reason.

Thank you that means alot to me. Was no small feat, couldn’t have done it without help from friends, family and the most amazing place on the interwebs OverGrow.

For the pump it was ordered via Amazon,
Heres the link for any interested.

No bib there just a paper towel missed during leak checks lmao i do have a tee above the pump about shoulder height with a 3/4 hose plumbed in, its unfinished as i need to rig up a relief valve back into the tank for when the hose is not in use so the pump won’t burn up or blow a seal.

Many thanks for pointing out who originally created the BBD. Its important to me that those who may be reading are able to find accurate information as well as links on where to find seeds, equipment, etc I will edit to reflect

Im excited to see what she has in store, I gave a couple to my friends/ family on the farm to run in the greenhouse and I have to say we’re really impressed with the loud stink coming off of her, she was a vigorous grower, with great structure and resilience to pest pressure as well Septoria pm and boytritus which were all present on other plants. Sadly i havent been out there lately and the last time we went it was dark so no pics to show. :crossed_fingers: shes dried and ready for a sample next time i make it out.

I like the setup. I got made respect when people put together systems they custom engineer to fit their needs.

Here is what I’m using now. Less intricate with a sub pump. Always had a fear of an inline leaking or being a pain in the ass but I may upgrade down the road as time and money see fit lol for now it works and well.

Sub pump goes up to a T and splits one way for mixing the rez and the other out to a 3/4 bib and also into a separate piped in drip setup I can switch whenever I need to. It’s simple but damn it does the job well. Have the pump controlled by a WiFi timer so I can turn it on/off or run scheduled irrigation.

Your system looks pretty cool! I also run Flora Flex. I usually start with coco after the seed tap root shows on my paper towel. I then either grow in Fox farm or more often just stay in coco. Looking forward to seeing how your grow turns out. I’d be interested in seeing your system in action. Good luck to you.

Digging the layout man, super clean build :raised_hands:. Genius use of the timer, can ask what wifi timer you went with and why that one? Currently looking for one to put on the humidifier. Originally was going to go with a sump pump, budget is why the build landed on the inline water heater pump there is a couple drawbacks to this pump the threads required an adapter, it does come with added risk of drips leaks etc but the head pressure runing 3/4" is ideal, in top of that it was rather inexpensive and reviewed as reliable compared to others in the scope i was looking for. The person that helped me along the way uses a 2hp pool pump :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes: reminds me of tim the tool man taylor (I need MOORE POOOOWAAAHH insert evil laugh)

Oh and yes that is a bib haha thought you were looking at something else. Will be happy when i get the return to the rez finished so i can use it; will mostly be for cleaning. In time will add a wand with inline flow meter for hand watering when they are in starter cups. After that i will start designing a CIP fogger style IPM system so that no one will have to be in the room during ipm treatments. Even though the stuff used is botanicals no hard pesticides; exposure to those tiny particles makes me paranoid when thinking long term.

The little ones responded well to their first feeding with noticeable new growth this morning. Was just in checking the pots and they are feeling light again already. Its a fine line when watering seedlings I have killed many by way of overwatering and under watering. This round is going really well thus far. I used half a 32 oz spray bottle when feeding yesterday and topped them off with the rest this morning roughly 2 ounces per plant. Feel they’ll likely be right on schedule for up potting come end of the week.

Thanks man appreciate it :raised_hands::stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:.
I would like to try starting in coco one of these days, maybe I’m overthinking but the worry about getting it buffered properly and keeping it a happy environment for seedlings has been the main reasons for starting with soil, I like to think there is some added biological activity that carries over to the coco as well

Canna coco and Flora flex is buffered. I don’t use cal mag in those cocos. I just use a tiny amount of flora flex V1 and V2 after the seedling has popped ground and is starting to need nutrients.

I’m in for the ride, Thanks for letting me take up some space in your garden. I appreciate the tag :call_me_hand:

Oh nice! Thanks will definitely note that for future reference. I do have an appreciation for soils buffering capacity during the seeding stage, however the rapid growth from seed in coco is a big perk in my book, like a week off the grow cycle.

Will likely hold off making the switch until running some home made seeds; if botched I’m only out of pocket a few seeds instead of something potentially difficult or impossible to replace

Heck yeah thanks for following along glad to have ya, make yourself at home growchacho.

Dude, amazing setup here! I’ll be gladly following along with you on this ride :+1:

I fucking love this and I’m totally stealing the phrase as a fellow “neuro spicy” :joy: :hot_pepper:

Hey growmie, thank you very much:raised_hands::stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:. I’m glad to have you along for the ride man. Been busy over here nursing the baby’s back to health lol. I didn’t have my calibration set right and overfed, they were pretty pissed about it for a week, thought i may lose a couple but every one is bouncing back strong now.

I think that may have been my exact problem too, I went too long without calibrating it

Quick update, I ended up transplanting straight in to 2 gallon pots monday after accidentally overfeeding the plants.

Pic before the effects started to present:

Higher temps coupled with high EC is a recipe for slow transpiration, they started looking soggy /droopy and just all around pissed off. As the medium slowly dried back I’d imagine the EC climbed even more. Day 2 im realizing i need to take some corrective action so i began up potting, at this point its looking like i may lose a plant or two.

Here they are collectively not pleased with me.

As im transplanting I’m seeing on several plants only the bottom half inch of the pots have roots, so I as gently as possible worked as much soil loose from the roots as possible. Popped them into the 2 gallon coco pots and 3 days later and here we are, most of them have already snapped out of the stunt and are putting on new growth.
I feel like we can all breathe easy, no one is dying .

Keeping temps in the tent are at 80f and around 72% humidity, 500 ppm at a ph of 6 fed 4 times a day.

On a high note even as small as they are I was pleasantly surprised getting wafts of smell coming off a couple during transplant. Leaves me eager to see whats in store down the road.

Set to veg in these pots for 21 days, then will take cuttings of each and then flip to flower.

Oh man, hopefully didnt shock them too badly. When benchmarked against another meter and it was almost 1100 ppm i knew i f&%$#d up.
Going to start recalibrating every 30 days or so, I should have done it when i got it just to be safe as alot of what im running is second hand equipment.

Going to give the plants another couple days to recover before the paparazzi make an appearance lol, will do up close and personal shots and start to take note of individual traits, growth patterns etc.

I will say that there are definitely a handful of stand out plants that took the abuse almost in stride.
@LoveDaAutos Cap Junky s1 stayed strong, green and upright throughout the ordeal as well as Terp fi3nds Nag Champa, Nachos el sapo Double Banana Berry Freak, Brothers Grim Durbin Nights, the DBHP via Overgrow and @anonymous4289 Blueberry Diesel also faired really well and was one of the plants giving off smells really early on im not talking stem rubs, this was emanating from the plant during up potting. Color me impressed with the BBD right out of the gate.

Meant to ask you Ris, what kind of ph down do you use. Currently im running a phosphoric acid however I’ve read some reports that too much phosphoric acid can obliterate terpenes when over applied. Looking at switching over to sulfuric acid instead seems to be less sensitivity around sulfates.
