Aeropress hack:

“Advanced technique”:

That’s clever. Is it good?

I’ll sometimes throw a little hash dust into a tea in an insulated mug and let it sit and decarb. The temp is a little low but it works well enough.

@Foreigner I did a whole ounce with one cup of coconut oil and was able to squeeze every drop out of it with that. It’s basically a tincture at this potency.

Blew my mind

How long would you say you let it set there and decarb? Was thinking about doing this with the stuff thats stuck to the walls of the coffee grinder i use to grind up my joint filler with.It gets pretty Gnarly and i have to scrape that shit.

45 minutes or so with the lid on. It’s nice but very mild.

That idea definitely belongs in the “why didn’t I think of that?” Category …

lol I know… I’ve been using my Vice grip for years… The folks over at magical butter machine were nice enough to remind me that I’ve had an aeropress the whole time :joy:

So how does this whole process work? What are you doing running hot coconut oil into the ganja medium and using the action of the coffee press?

@CapnCannabis So basically any form of cheese cloth filtering you could use this for. It allows you to put maximum pressure onto the plant material to squeeze out all of the oil easily after infusing.

My personal recipe? I just use this guy’s post from Reddit… Everything stays in the same mason jar for the most part… decarbed in the oven and then 2 hours on low in the crockpot… right into the cheese filter/aeropress… I use that coconut oil they sell at Costco for $15 for 2 1/2 pounds.

You could use butter, MCT oil, pretty much anything oil-based I would imagine.

I don’t mess with ethanol anymore and I prefer edibles at this point in my life so this is perfect for someone like me with a high tolly

There are stainless steel screen filter and flow control filter cap accessories for the aeropress. I wonder if these additional features would possibly eliminate the need for the excess cheese cloth filter media and allow for direct tincture bottle filling.

Pressure cooker or instapot for decarb and infusing works well too.

This is a good idea for sure. I was either ignoring the % loss of oil or i would toe a pencil at the top of the cheese cloth ball and spin until it got done

Thanks!

I do something similar but more convoluted but I use a nylon mesh straining bag. I just have to wait for the slurry to cool a little before I squeeze.

Great idea! Love my areopress!
Does anyone actually own the larger version? I’ve been interested in upgrading but multiple YouTubers claim the heat dynamics are poorly, leading to a lessor quality extraction. Never thought of using it for herbs, well done

Those Silicone Grill Gloves For making pulled pork work really well for squeezing the living shit out of the ball to get all the oil you can and not burning the shit out of your hands.

Yes that would totally work. I just wait until it cools to like 40C or whatever. :+1:

Thanks for the idea. I grilled my buds in tinfoil outside to avoid the smell inside. Finely ground and steeped in coconut oil. We’ll see if it turns into anything :joy:

Turned out looking like this:

Ha ha, you grill them on the open fire?

Haha Nooo  In tinfoil, off the direct heat. I just use it as an oven.

Open fire would be diabolical :joy:

I would never submit weed to fire.
