Afghaniganza 5: Auto Cherry Queen

Great evidence of long viability, heat seal works. Really nice to see, thanks for sharing, I am happy to keep learning and this is way cool

Yeah, that is a chunky girl. Glad she made it without the mold. I have seeds from your 3 Way Durb. I guess the dad would be the 4P Haze. I’m gonna find out soon. I have a few others with that dad that I have out.

The SSC is sporty looking as well. Nice bud structure. BIG! haaaa! peace

She sure is! :joy:

Just about the time I think she’s going to stop swelling up, I look again a few days later and she’s still going. I’d really something.

You’ll have to let me know how that cross goes. Sounds nice!

Auto Hindu Kush #1

Here’s auto HK numero uno. Structure is fascinating on her. Side branches are as tall as the main, with no topping applied. Lots of bud and good resin. Definitely has a nice earthy, kushy smell. I think she finished about a week ahead of her sister, who is a different pheno and a more “standard” structure.

Both females are 100% clean so far, no nanners, balls, spotless. So that’s pretty great and makes me want to give the Auto CQ a shot with the male I used – even despite that it threw pistils. I think it might be the good kind that produce herm-proof females. I’ve seen it before in a Bodhi strain. Lots of generational work to do on it to make it auto, so if it’s a problem I’ll know.

Anyway, this one is a good, weighty plant. In some ways, it’s a lot similar to CQ, which isn’t totally unexpected. It has low apical dominance, but the CQ pheno from vern wasn’t super apical either. I’m feeling pretty optimistic that this could still work out.

That is quite the nice structure for an auto. It’s looking really good. I always have fun watching your projects!

Yeah that’s pretty much how I like my autos to grow. I think that and the CQ should combine very well. I’d think you’d have the structure pretty much locked in, with the CQ adding mass and density to the auto hk. Should be able to pull some nice ones out of that no problem

The other one looks great too, so as long as it finishes strong, I’m putting the green light back on the auto project. I’m glad I decided to hit one branch with the auto male. It’s always a tough choice when a male tosses out some pistils. I’ve seen both good and bad results in the females. In the end, I only care about what the females are doing, so I prefer to use that as my guide. Seeing these girls come out very clean gives me enough confidence to spend a little time checking out the cross.

I think the structure is great, and the CQ is going to be a killer in auto form. The HK has so much similarity in the structure already, so I think it’ll be pretty easy to pick out some plants that will make great autos.

SSC

Not Afghan related – but this is the beastly Super Silver Cough cut gifted me by @vernal. I’ve spent the last ~10 days just running it on low EC as it wraps up. Very nice, soapy, incensey, musty smells. Very good yield and resin, with nice large buds. I had to string up most of the plant, because the bud weight was quite sizeable. It filled up most of the rows of my large drying rack.

I’m trimming up this first auto Hindu Kush from @seven_trees. Man it smells tasty. It’s been a minute since I grew something this kushy. :stuck_out_tongue:

Capital work as always. I think the longest I took her was 84-85 but I’m sure it could go longer if that’s your preference.

Is CQ dried enough to shuck seed? I am curious how the pollination went.

I’m not sure on the exact date they went into flower, but I think I chopped SSC between 80 and 85 days. So that’s about right.

The Durban pollination did not go very well. Super weird actually. I only got about 10 mature seeds on the branches I had marked. There were a TON of immature white seeds. They had plenty of time to ripen and finish, so I can only suspect that degraded pollen is somehow related to seed miscarriage.

I got a lot of matured seeds from the auto HK pollen branch, so I’m a little uncertain if the small number of seeds from the Durban branches are a result of pollen drift. I’ll send you some if you want to try, but I won’t know anything for sure until I run them.

Last to finish is this nice looking Hindu. Leaves are starting to fade from the flush. Maybe a few more days and I’ll take the axe to her.

Wow, she’s an interesting looking girl. That’s an auto?

Yep! That’s one of the females from the line I’m using to make this auto CQ. I figured it would be a good starting place to keep it as Afghan as possible. This one doesn’t smell as kushy as her sister, but more of a fruity candy smell.

That’s a really cool looking cola. Fat as hell, too.

Auto Hindu Kush #2

Finished this one off today, and am very pleased with the results. Fade came in nicely at the end, and she’s really pretty. A little bit of fox tail action on her, fruity smells. But I think once she dries out, it’ll acquire a more kushy smell. Nice large calyxes and looks to be a good yield like her sister. Super easy to grow all around, and also completely devoid of any stamen.

I like what I’ve seen from these @seven_trees auto hindus. Really appreciate getting the opportunity to grow them.

That’s the last plant for this round, so the next time we reconvene here, I’ll be checking out the hybrids CQ/aHK hybrids to see how those turned out.

That SSC was a beast. All trimmed up. The right is a gallon jar stuffed to the lid, and packed out another small pint as well. Lovely hazey, soapy, perfumey smelling herb. Thanks @vernal for the cut, you really jam packed some jars for me.
