Afghaniganza Part 4: Gahn baby gahn

I’ll be really interested to see the black dak selections you get. The 2 I ran were just so radically different. Both good - but the peppery one was quite stout whereas the bubba leaner was more stretchy… great greasy resin on that one though that eventually cured to an almost cat pissy smell… totally not what I was expecting. Yielded crazy too.

The peppery one was quite similar to the 88G13HP - more peppery, glands not greasy and a tighter flower.

A great smoke both of them… in fact - time to smoke some black Dak tonight!!!

I’m really glad you had some 88g13hp going. I think it’s ideal for this. As I remember from the last time I grew it, there were also some stretchy pepper phenos in there. Between me and @8k_feet, I think we’re going to see it all this time. If you grow some females from the 88g13 cross I’d love to see. I think they’ll be pretty good. I put my nose to them and they definitely had some burnt rubber and maybe tobacco or something going on. Very rich smells.

BlackDak x 88G13HP Males

Here’s an update on the male situation. Male flowers are starting to stack. So far all plants are really short and haven’t stretched hardly at all. I think I’d be surprised if they didn’t stretch a lot more this week, but we’ll see. Short is fine by me.

Not too much movement on the BlackDak females yet. They definitely like dry conditions, as Afghans should. I was feeding 3x per day, and had a few with some droop and signs of overwatering. I’m going to try 2x per day and see if they perk up a little more.

Truly beautiful plants, hopefully you can get those intersex traits mostly bred out. What smells are you getting?

That plant has been a great smoke so far. It’s got a lot of blueberry from the Afghan side and some pine and eucalyptus or something as well (probably Lebanese side, because I noted some pineapple in that when I grew it). It’s a great smoke, and the Afghan leaning pheno is absolutely devastating with a severe couch lock high. The Lebanese pheno is lighter and more functional. It’s amazing to me that these both came from the same seeds. Inbreeding them will be a joy.

I’m definitely going to start by trying to remake it. Almost certainly that will fix the intersex problem. The only question I have is how differently it will come out. So we’ll just have to see what comes out. I do intend to do a lot more with it. I’m saving F2 seeds off of the Afghan pheno. If the F1 remake doesn’t produce what I want, I’ll explore the F2s and see if there are clean plants in those. Fortunately, the male for the F2s looked clean, and was a Lebanese pheno, so there should be some ability to work with those seeds to find good parents to make seeds with.

The chosen male (BlackDak x 88G13HP)

I really like this guy. Structurally, he’s really well distributed. His side branches look very productive. He’s just starting to drop pollen and still has a lot of development to do, but this male is a standout to me.

The rest of the males

The first male is the earliest, and is dropping pretty substantially right now. The two in back are showing a little more apical dominance, and so I’m a little less in favor of those. I’m going to clear out probably one or two of these males this weekend. I’ll collect pollen from the early male as a backup, but I’m don’t think I’ll be using it for the project. I’m feeding pretty light right now, and only 2x/day. I don’t think I’ll change anything this weekend with the feeds either, as they only need about 1, maybe 2 weeks at most.

Female tent (Day 25)

There’s one in there, substantially smaller than the others. I got rid of one female I didn’t like, so this one is a few weeks behind and struggling a bit with the nutrient concentrations I think. Oh well, ride or die lady.

I’m looking forward to seeing them next week. Once they have flowers they should be a little more resilient to the low humidity. Winters in Colorado aren’t always friendly… the difference between 45% and 35% in my basement is noticeable. I’m going to do some defoliation today and open up the canopy a bit to the light deprived parts. These are pretty dense plants and will benefit from it.

Thanks @Leaf

I think this incross is going to be on point when all is said and done. It seems like @man-bot’s cross to 88G13hp is doing the things that I’d hoped it would do. The males are staying short, and they’re branching well. I think this is going in a good direction. I might still want to inbreed them for a couple generations to hone in on what I’m looking for, but I think this is really heading toward a good place.

Pollen is really flying now. I’ve been collecting for about 3 days in a row, and we’re hitting peak for a couple plants now.

I will be offering up some free pollen this weekend. I think I will be done collecting in advance of that. So if you’re looking to get some pollen from a power indica, these are a pretty stout combo of Black Domina / Pre98 Bubba / Afghan Kush / 88G13HP. :v:

Thank you

some nice lookin boys there!

They are all in combination as:

50% 88G13HP
25% Black Domina
12.5% Pre98 Bubba
12.5% Afghan Kush

There’s 2 easily identifiable phenos in there, with some smaller variations inside those. So the pollen will give you a range of phenos among these great cultivars.

Sounds like a recipe for some wicked badA$$ Cannabis, the kind that makes you drool while being couch locked laughing at yourself in the mirror thinking your watching the comedy Channel.

I live in central Europe, I don’t know how it is with shipping from the US. in return I’d send you some of the seeds of course.
I already picked my favourites, structurewise. what bud will be my favourite I’ll see in around 6-7 weeks

Yea no worries, pollen is easy to send. It doesn’t need any crush protection, it just needs to be thoroughly dried and well sealed to prevent moisture.
