These were a couple shorties, although I kinda like #4. They’re both pretty stout plants… seem like they might be nice for making an auto.
Nice Lefty. I never had the Black Domina. Is the spicy/pepper a common characteristic of the BD?
It can be, but not usually in my experience. I’ve probably had berry phenos the most in other lines. Those also pop out in mine (somewhat grapey in these), even alternating with pepper during the grow and cure.
From Nevil’s words, it seems like there might have been two versions of it that he made – one which used an afghan called garlic bud, and one that used something else iirc. I’ve thought that’s where the pepper smell could originate from.
Here’s the comment I was thinking of.
Well I don’t know what indica he’s referring to specifically, but kushes and hashplants as I understand were generally adapted toward longer stems to the resin heads (capitate) that break off more easily in the traditional hash making process. So that’s one reason why I like using the Dakini with it on this one. I’m looking forward to making rosin with some this time.
The Black Domina I originally grew didn’t have those kush-like glands that are almost ubiquitous now in dispensary strains. The long kush stems are good for making concentrates since it’s easier to separate from the plant material, but IMO not at all necessary for making a strong ganja. I think the large majority of the resin is in the capitate compared to the stem. But for appearances, it’s much easier to see a trichome on a long stem. I point this out, because I think it’s a bit of a misconception that people have when they look at a bud, and it might also be driving us toward a bit of a monoculture in commercial cannabis.

Not my favorite for a lot of reasons. The main one is that I get that whiff of baby shit off of it. Mmmm baby shit. Everybody loves smelling that. I think it’ll cure out… haven’t gotten a poo pheno off this cross before. But what it lacks in good smells, it at least makes up for in nice looking nugs. Small top cola, but the lower buds really look good. Definitely more to the appearance of the Dakini than the Domina.
I was gifted some seeds from Albania, the female i grew out had a baby poo smell to it too. while growing it was not so pleasant, when it cured out it was great.

I chopped these a few days early. I got some root rot and was getting nervous about botrytis. This girl and the next one are short and chonky. Fruitier smells from this one.

Quintessential domina pheno. Holy fuckin pepper batman. You catch this one at the right times and it punches you in the face with it. Another really squatty one, but I like it a lot. A contender for sure.

She’s pretty, but pathetically small yields (likely my fault). This one was an audible I called at the last minute. I had her as a backup and swapped in at the last minute. Not much for smells, but plenty o’ resin.
Well, that clears the tents! Next up drying, trimming, curing, pressing… and TESTING.
They all look really fantastic! Excellent work!
Thanks @PlantShepherd.
By the way – I used the Baharak pollen on a panama haze clone and the seeds are developing nicely right now. There’s a good number of them too. I tossed Chocolate Trip on another PH clone and there will definitely be some seeds, but I didn’t get it to take as well. We’ll see what comes out. One of these days, I am going to fill my tent with all of my different PH pollen chucks and see what comes out.
Sweet! I’m really stoked to see how the baharak pollen turns out! I’m looking at my dm from @landracemafia, and he said the Baharak seeds are new afghan selections from @baaba879 (those are ig names).
That makes sense about the chocolate trip pollen. It’s probably six months old or so. Baharak was more recently harvested.
Nice, I have those afghan selections seeds and a few others of theirs in my fridge. I love what they’re doing.
Those Blackdaks are gorgeous, that’s going to be some quality indica stone
