I want to do a skunk #1 pheno hunt because my mom would always talk about skunk #1. My budget is $50. Basically my question is, is AGseedco the “best” place to buy skunk #1 seeds to find an original skunk 1? Or would I be wasting my time…

What skunk does your mom talk about? Modern skunk#1 isn’t skunky, its sweet or fruity. AGseed’s skunk falls into this same category.

From what she use to tell me, it had a skunk smell and she swore the name was skunk #1. I guess that one’s no longer around?

Thats one of the most hunted types of cannabis and basically a holy grail situation at this point.

Back in the late 80’s early 90’s they called everything skunky “skunk#1 or skunk weed”. In 1999 I had some old California seeds one was a cali purple spike and the other was a skunk. Both reeked of skunk. I’m yet to find anything close now

Search skunk on the search bar, loads of posts about people hunting, and if you find a.journal you like and maybe think it might be the real thing, message that person, i guarentee they will help you out for free or trade

Skunk is a hype thing blue sky vienna came up with to make seeds more popular again.
When we were younger our tolerance was lower and nose sharper.
Perception of smell is already a difficult thing to perceive as a memory.
Memories become nostalgic, and it’s a great marketing strategy.

You could try AK Bean Brains Super Skunk x Skunk #1
Dave from AKBB is a good guy, his seeds are pretty legendary, and he is known to hold onto originals of many of the old strains.
And, yes, original Skunk strains have become a holy grail to chase after

Sk1 was never skunky, but, some phenos, may have a slight SWEET Skunk spray type smell. I bet you mom meant exactly as she stated. It was probably just a sweet skunk with a hint of skunkiness, which isnt out of the norm. Skunk is a bastardized term. We had skunk-SKUNK in e Ky in 1978, from William Keith “Noodle” Hayes of Meigs Ohio. Creator of Meigs County Gold. Long before Sk1 hit the commercial markets. Buddy lost in 84 via a rat.

I grew out AG sk1 a few years back it’s a sweet skunk spray smell and a bit fruity as well
Overall a good smoke but not RKS

I recently tried a skunk cookies from an indigenous dispensary on vancouver island and LAWDY LORD a 1g nug of that stank in a bag!
Wasn’t super impressed when I first smelled it, as I got a bit more citrus, but after I had it bagged, I was getting savory funky cheese and skunk butt.
Not sure of the breeder, but I know @CoastalMarySeeds has one from Epic Seeds. Not positive if it was theirs, but whoever was the breeder, I was impressed!
