Alaskan thunderfuck/ matanuska

So i was wondering where to acquire the legendary mtf? Never grown or smoked it but have always wanted to try it. I did grow matanuska haze from sagarmatha seeds many moons ago. Is anybody growing it now?

Ak bean brains has a few variations for mtf - a bx, and some crosses of different mtf lines.

I remember the ATF having a rotten fruit aroma to it cant remember though the density of the buds I do wonder though if it is an actual strain or just a name commonly used for ganja in that region?

Haven’t popped em yet, but I picked up a Thunderfuck cross(Double Thunder) from @JohnnyPotseed. They’re half off for the next couple days.

I grew it out last summer and it was decent. I have yet to fully smoke it to make a report though but it was a nice plant to grow.

If you post on the trade thread @nick131740 you may fine someone who has as ATF was going around the last few years here on OG.

Here’s 2 phenos of the AK Bean Brains MTF bx4. I’ve never smoked the original, so not sure what to compare these to, but sharing for “data”. I’ve posted the one pic on another thread, but feel it’s relevant here too.

1st plant, shorter pheno, almost all indica in the high. Taste is very floral, like rose and lavender. Seems to have a nice calming effect that lasts for a while. Decent buds, but no branching on the lowers, and they’re a bit larfy.

2nd pheno, a little taller with some stretch. Better structure and pretty solid buds all the way down. Taste is cherry and some menthol. High starts out heady, fades into more of a balanced high. Not as strong as the other pheno, but a very pretty plant with nicer buds.

i am with you, never had it always wanted it too. with a legendary name like “Alaska Thunderfuck” it just sound impressive. :sunglasses:

it is getting more difficult to find true legendary strains these days with all the poly bred’s. it has come down to pheno hunting if you are really trying to get closer to the “one” :face_with_monocle: that you are after.

if you find the real deal hook a brother up. :joy:

i still have not had it and want it. :love_you_gesture:

good luck & happy hunting.

@Pigeonman’s tip was a good one check out the “trade thread” i have seen some really good things happen there.

Ive been lucky enough to smoke atf a few times. It gives a very energetic, cerebral buzz. The buds are dense, dark green and coated in frost and it has a very distinct aroma of pine and gas.

Btw if anyone has leads on the OG biker cut of atf, id gladly pay, or trade what i have for it.

Here’s what my ATF looked like by the time the constant rain made me crop it.

Interesting about the phenos. I crossed an Arcata Trainwreck clone with a Ghost Rider OG 8 years ago, and have grown out several dozen of the seeds. Every single plant looks and grows just like the rest. I see a lot of talk about various phenos, but I only ever get one.

Wow im sold lol! That looks so good thanks for the responses. I kinda figured akbean was the way to go being hes from Alaska. But ya growing up atf was up there with trainwreck, sour d, bluebery etc for itslegendary status. From my understanding they still grow it in the Matanuska valley. But its way more rare, kept by old timers. I watched a great documentary about atf on YouTube, great information and interviews with old cats from that area.

I only popped 6 seeds, so I’m sure there’s even better stuff hiding in there. If you buy directly from him, he usually hooks up the packs with extra seeds too.

The funny thing everyone up here you will talk to in a dispensary will tell you the strain is gone. They just don’t know.

Well that documentary i was watching people were thinking the same thing. But apparently its been held by a couple fellas for all these years. Cant remember the details but i think alot of old timers lost the clone to time. But they did track down the original at several spots. Ill try an find that and post the link

Think this is part of it talking about thunderfuck

Yes, it is still grown up here. No one in Anchorage seems to know it even exists. I remember smoking it the first time 30 yrs ago. That was a proper Alaskan stoning.
