Ambitions Grow Log

Starting a grow diary / grow log really more as a creative outlet than anything else. I’m halfway through my current grow but I have plenty of photos so I’ll just post until I get caught up.

Here’s what I had to pick from. This grow specifically I was looking for sativas, or narrow leaf I think we’re calling it now, so I opted for Strawberry Temple & Angel Wing x Lavender Lemonaid.

I’m just growing for fun & for the nuggets so not a big pheno hunt this time. 3 seeds of eat strain and hope for at least 1 female of each.

My usual rhythm is to start my grows indoors, clone my plants, use those clones to determine gender, cull all males, and flip to 12/12 in my tent to start flowering. I’ll then bring my clones out to my deck to veg and flower naturally.

I’m growing in Build a soil 3.0 amended with Gaia green worm castings, gnarly barely, and a tiny bit of craft blend. I like these little 1 gallon fabric pots because it buys me tons of time to determine sex before I have to worry about heavily feeding them.

I had this cool little camera to keep an eye on the plants but it died after a few days of being in the tent :joy:

This is my first time running Bodhi genetics and the hype is pretty real for me right now. These plants grew quick and easy!

I’ve determined that I already have a favorite of each strain. Based solely on the structure of the plants. The strawberry temple in the middle is growing so fast. Really excited to see how it turns out, and crossing my fingers it’s female!

You can really see it in this photo here. Clearly out pacing the rest of the plants.

I’m growing in a 2x4. I’ve got a little autoflower that I’m growing in the other half of the tent currently with the intention to just let it grow and see what happens without putting much effort into it. It’s a colab between night owl seeds and gnome automatics called “Starfox x Mothman.” It’s probably a cool plant but the Bodhi genetics are my priority this grow.

I travel a bit for work so these kinda got away from me. I think it’s time to determine sex and pick my keepers.

I read on here that you can take cuttings in some nutrient water under 12/12 and determine sex in 10 or so days so I’m giving it a shot!

Long story short- the cuttings didn’t root or show gender in the water cups. Probably user error but I don’t want to give up on this idea.

So I bought an aero cloner and took some new cuttings. This time they started to grow roots and grow a little as well as show gender!

Bro ive heard faster than that like 3 days but i figure 3-5 but i haven’t tried yet they say they wont show right away but that its enough time switch to initiate and show while back under veg hours

I saw another grow log where 1 of the strawberry temples was just insane compared to the others.

I’m really hoping my big one is the same pheno as this. The colas are absolutely bonkers!!

Oh wow, those are chonky. Crossing my toes for ya

With the aero cloner I bet it took me about 10 days personally to feel confident in gender. I’ve only done an handful of grows though and don’t have a well trained eye yet!

To my surprise and delight, 5 of the 6 plants are female! I felt like I was missing something when I was checking because it was too good to be true. All but the smallest strawberry temple were female!

So I’m transplanting my 2-3 favorites into their forever homes in the autopots but I don’t feel right culling the other 2 because I’ve already put so much time into them.

They’re all pretty thirsty and sad. I didn’t want to put a ton of nutrients into the plants before learning their sex and since the cups failed and I’ve been traveling a bit they’re all drooping now. Since they won’t all fit though I’ve decided to feed them all and gift the other 2 to a grow buddy.

There’s some hype around angel wing in the bodhi thread around this time so I decided to keep 2 AW X LL’s and the big Strawberry temple :sunglasses:

Perhaps plant them outside?
It’s always interesting to see how differently they perform from the ‘inside group’.
I’ve literally just dug a small hole. chucked the extras in and left them alone for the summer.
You see things like susceptibility to bugs and mold, response to light and climate conditions.
Plus, some ‘get big’… for a bonus harvest… a good excuse for making bubble hash perhaps?

Cheers

I love this. Outdoor grows have always been my favorite. I’m all the way up in Minnesota. This was about a month ago and the night time temps weren’t quite what I thought they needed to be. I would have been so sad to see these girls die if it got too cold.

I felt comfortable gifting them to a buddy because I have the cones in the aero cloner now re-vegging. those will go outside soon!

Haven’t dabbled in hash yet. It seems like a lot of work

Here’s another update on the tent:

After transplanting and watering these are looking much happier again. This is AWxLL (1). She’s very perky and always seems to be praying.

Here’s the second AWxLL (3) I kept. Less perky but still seemingly happy considering the abuse I give these girls.

Strawberry Temple (5) still the fastest growing and the most rigorous.

I have a longish trip coming up which is why I haven’t flipped to 12/12 yet. Will do that when I return!

That first Angel Wing is so perky!

Got them all situated in their autopots! No more room for the auto flower so I moved that outside.

I’m not big on trellis netting but I use these training clips to bend the branches sometimes.

All the cuttings I took for clones inadvertently gave really even plants which I’m really excited about.
