I watched a mr canuck video and noticed he seems to pre ammended with gaia green dry ferts into ammended living soil.
Ive been starting with roots lush and beginning top dress with terp tea dry ferts only after several weeks.
Im switching from autos to fems this run. Ive upgraded my SIPs from 5 to 7 gal. And now im wondering if i should put extra dry ferts into my sip soil beforehand to last the longer fem lifespan.
Maybe the bottom half of the bucket only?
I have dr earth slo release dry…if i mixed it in the bottom half per recommend dosage how do i know it wont be too hot?

Not sure about mrcanuck but adding extra shouldn’t be a problem. Mixed in the medium allowing the plant to lead.

Marvelous news! In this situation would you suggest all bloom ferts mixed into the bottom half of 7 gal.? Or some ratio of veg and bloom?
Mixed in seeking balance. The logic of bloom ferts at the bottom ain’t my jam. The plant is smart, provide what’s needed and get outta the way. Roots in SIPs behave different than standard pots. Not sure what different ferts at the bottom would accomplish with feeder roots near the surface.

Ewww worms! J/k. Honestly tho i dont think i got enuf organic street cred for the worm deal indoors yet.
I just had a premonition of having my top off res malfunction and and flood the buckets and make the tent look like a sidewalk after a heavy rain w/ drowned worms erywhere.

let the plants tell you what they want. the directions on the nutes is based off of a 1000 watt light first thing to remember. long time ago i ran across sub cools super soil i bought the soil and amendments my buddy bought the clones dead in hours the soil was way to hot he even said it was. do the lasagna method instead ( layers) we did potting soil on top half of the bucket then the super soil worked great for about 2 weeks then the roots grew into the hot stuff didnt kill it but everyone knows what an over nuted plant looks like besides if you pop 4 seeds 6 whatever out of the same pack you will most likely get several diff pheno’s some will love hot soil some will hate it all from the same pack all in the same tent IDK let them tell you what they want
