Any guitarists here ? I’m a jam band guy myself

The bank told me they tried to clean out my account reason they put a hold on my card…that’s was the only time I’ve ever had a problem with Facebook sales that was couple of years ago…

I like “half rounds” in a medium gauge. And i change strings maybe once every 3 years. Makes for a fatter, smoother jazz/blues tone.

What’s half rounds

I can only wish my strings would last that long. Uncoated last a month on average. They start getting a little pitty feeling and tinny sounding. The coated ones, even if I play that guitar a lot, last a good 6 months. I know when it’s time to change them. The coating starts to flake off.

I’m kinda the same with you wash my hands before playing guitar,if I work on raw steel without wearing gloves rust marks everywhere started coating
The steel with oil just incase I forgot about wearing gloves lll

Waaaay back in the day when i was in a band with friends, after playing we’d do a quick wipe down of the strings. I would get a dab of cleaner/polish on a rag, rub it around and rub down the strings with it. Never had a problem with my sometimes sweaty fingers.

I used Ernie Ball Slinky 10-46 for a while. They sound good and their fairly cheap.
But heres an idear. If you dont change strings very often anyways, why not treat yourself to something a little nicer? Just me.

That’s true I probably change them once a year  I don’t play much always to busy doing something reason I’m not allowed any more till I can play these.
Going
To try and out an hour in a night I’ve been saying this for about 6 years
I’m trying to trade some skunk for a guitar at
The minute
It’s not like I’m buying it it’s trading,I wanted a strat but after
My cheapo one having such a small neck

There are “Rounds”, Half Rounds" and the regular wound strings. Rounds or “flats” are some how flat. Picture a long stretch of tape twisted around? Anyway they make the tone thicker and used by many jazz players cuz of that and you don’t get “scriitich” sliding up and down the frets. Half rounds aren’t quite as flat, get a titch more twang, but still subdued and no “scriitich” sliding up and down the frets. -

I bought these just to see what a light gauge string will do. Havent’ put them on yet. Usually I get a medium gauge.

If you like the smooth non screechy strings you can also try elixirs. Love em on my Telecaster.

Does your tele have a fat or slim neck

Those yellow Ernie Ball.

Fat U shaped neck.

I like nickel DR’s on my electrics. 10’s or 11’s depending on scale. I think they sound best.

Basses I like flatwound thomastiks.

11s! I went up to 11 - 48 and they made the 10s I’ve played my whole life suddenly seem like Fischer Price strings. Could never go back. I use the Ernie Ball Slinky Cobalts.

I use Elixirs on my acoustic and love them. I noticed my throat would feel kind of weird after playing my acoustic a few years ago. I tried Elixirs once just out of curiosity and noticed I didn’t have that feeling after playing with them. They sound good too so I’ve been using them since.

Keep 'em clean, no problem unless you’re looking for more twang in your thang. Flats and half rounds are easier to keep clean because they don’t have that little groove between the coils. Some jazz and blues players like to keep then on because they “mellow” with age. Of course, C&W on a Tele wants crisp brand new strings all the time.
