This talk made me take a walk. More to come soon…
First wabbit this season, went bass fishing earlier only to get a nibble. Then after a bit of bsn over arrows, i decided id walk the property this little guy was sitting puffed up nawing on some grass when smack my arrow put him down. Ive seen 3 or 4 more running around. So its going to be some fun!

Gonna head out for probably the last duck hunt til regular season starts in october… not alot of teal this but the numbers and drought… kinda figured it would suck but 2 so far… not a bad start but terrible considering we took a 2 man limit season opener last year in 15 minutes lol
But we’ll see… goose season starts before duck season and already alot of goose action on the pond
I was reading something the other day that said teal harvests have been down by 20 percent around the country, hoping our early season does better.
Yea… ive only seen 2 this year and they came in solo, which was even more odd… teal numbers are down so much from last year that next years season has been decided as a 9-day season across the states already amd will probably stay there a few years til numbers come back…
Out of a drought since spring for the first time in almost 7 years and the numbers dropped instead of raised like they shouldve… ive got 2 weeks til goose season comes in (starts a week before duck season and have no early season in iowa, idiots…)
bunnies… mmmmm
years ago I used to hunt this island (barnston) on the fraser river here in BC. It is mostly farms going back to the early settlement days of the area. When I was young and we could still do such things without getting arrested LOL Friends and I used to ride our bikes with our .22 rifles and burlap sacks and catch the little tug ferry over to the island. At the downstream end of the island was a grown over couple or so acres of land that had been part of one of the early settler farms. Story was they raised and bred european/dutch bunnies for meat and fur. The island hosted a large population that had turned wild and flourished, with few predators other than raptors and farm cats. Coyotes rarely made it across the channel to the island and if they did they got culled pretty fast. So at the end of the island amongst monster black berry bushes , we hunted those rabbits and usually came home with a few each plus gorging ourselves on blackberries. I loved those days and the rabbits … slow roasted whole on a BBQ rotisserie with a little baste of bbq sauce now n then… damn I miss that. We just get Hares up around here and they are not easy to find most seasons. Our small game hunting is mostly grouse and chukar in these parts.
gotta finish wrenchin on my jeep and get my ass out there after some meat!!
Hell yes man that sounds awesome.i got this before taking the kid to the bus
its a good day. Making jam meow.
Thats what were doing a rotisserie again. Teriyaki flavor. Its going to be great. We moved to a different property and have a large area to hunt the rabbits. They also wrecked my tomatoes and raspberries a bit, but i got him today. Ne ways 2 is a good way to start out the season. I love rabbits and eating them, when i live at my old place i would take them all day. They are super abundant even with the coyotes wolfs and cats around here. Theres 3 cougars that frequent my bros place where i used to live. Its amazing the wildlife you see when you get out of the city.
