Anybody else like to fish?

Fishing can be quite calming as well as an adrenaline rush. Many people use fishing as therapy. Just being outside away from the crouds can often give the mind a reset that it may need.

Along with growing cannabis, fishing is my other passion.

I live in Ontario on the great lakes so there are always many fishing opportunities and many varieties of fish.
Personally my favourite species has always been brook trout, mainly because they are tough to find.
Ive tried ocean fishing twice but havent been fortunate enough to hook up.

Where are all you other fishing folks from and what species do you like to target?
A dream catch for me is an ArcticChar, some day :face_with_monocle:

Heres a couple pics of some of my better catches. Share some back!!

When I lived in Ukraine, I fished pike and carp a lot in the little lake that we had close to our tiny little orchard.

Now, I barely get out, but when I do it’s for Salmon. Boats are expensive though so I jump in with friends who have boats , only make it a couple times a year.

Manchester UK. Mainly coarse fishing. Predators like Pike and perch are high on the lisy. But grayling and trout make for the best sport over here

It happens!

Im mainly a sportsangler, and 99% of my fishing is C&R targeting Carp or Trout.

Italy, France, Spain, Germany and Hungary have some awesome Carp lakes and rivers.
Only had the chance to fish River carp once in the Ebro river in Spain, they are a great deal stronger then lake carp.

Trout fishing when I don’t have, time or money for carp fishing sessions.
They fight well and are great fun, and hard to describe the feeling. When you land a good size fish, and you see how little hook hold you had.

I’ve recently taken up fishing the local streams for trout and the like. I usually bring the normal stuff, plus a folding chair, music and a few joints.

That’s the best part! We are barbless for Salmon over here, and for anything in any stream, so that makes it even more fun.

I had many, lived on two of them, and am unlikely to buy another one ever again, except for maybe a canoe… I’ll let my buddies pay for the boats, and buy them beer when we go out

I use barbless when I have too, but they are hard to come by here.
So most of the time, I only buy them if I visit a lake that demands it.

For some reason they cost much more, then barbed and micro barbed hooks.

I used to have a home a stone’s throw away from Lake Simcoe just north of Toronto. That lake is 10000 square kilometers and offered some of the best ice fishing and bass fishing that I’ve seen, now that I’m in Alberta it’s all about Pike and muddy shallow disgusting Lakes.
Yes those are Pelicans in Northern Alberta

I love to fish. Don’t get out anywhere near enough anymore though. This is a picture from a trip to Darwin chasing Barramundi about 5 years ago. Someday i’'ll get back up there for another shot at them…

Sand fleas are free bait on coquina sand beaches. Pompano, red fish, drum, whiting and sheepshead love this bait.

Damn. Gotta go through pc and upload some pics now. Only saltwater and mostly pelagic unless snook are running early morning. I’ll win for most weight if commercial catches count :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

Nice! We go to Simcoe every winter to ice fish.

It wasn’t early morning but it sure was a snook.

There ya go! Early morning is the only time I personally have to walk the beach and sight fish.

I love to stream fish (spring & fall) for Trout. Don’t fish as much lately since being challenged by a sow bear w/cubs (outran her with my sxs). I’m armed now lol. Waiting for the ice to form on the inland lakes.
