Artificial Inteligence has been “improving our life” day by day, it’s really good tool to make researches on easyer way and to get specific points of whatever subject. By the way, people turn to be dependent and satisfied with any answere got from chat bot.
I’m used to see many people on internet answering questions exactly write at format by chat bot. That makes question myself if they’ve the answere and just organize it on chat GPT (or similar), or if they’ve no idea how answere but even so they answere exactly how chat said about…
Getting more deeply, I’d tryed to be optimistic with new tecnologies and their implications, but I confess it’s hard. We heard a lot of how AI can be good and promissing to make our life better, but I’ve seen just one more way to big companies make more money. In my thoughts it would help normal people to work less, improve our health and life quality, quite the opposite people turn be dependent, becoming less capable to make a search from your own. I feel like AI and other digital stuffs are rotting our brains and we are cool with it.
Maybe I’m just getting old, maybe we are an dystopian world where I can’t fit in, maybe it’s pretty fucked up reality.
Becouse of that, I like so much be here in my garden, talking with real people and doing real stuffs.
Ps: I don’t hate all AI production, it can be good, I just hate the main of they work with our mind.
"I’ve come up with a set of rules that describe our reactions to technologies:
-
Anything that is in the world when you’re born is normal and ordinary and is just a natural part of the way the world works.
-
Anything that’s invented between when you’re fifteen and thirty-five is new and exciting and revolutionary and you can probably get a career in it.
-
Anything invented after you’re thirty-five is against the natural order of things."
- Douglas Adams
Pretty great and fitting quote. I find it to be mostly accurate for me.
The majority of people can barely read…let alone think critically.
Its easy to use, and people will gladly trade ease of use for freedom or having to think too deeply.
Social media is just echo chambers.
Welcome to the dead internet.
It gets even more strange when you read about how resigned Gen Z and younger kids are to their fate. They have nothing to offer in a system that is built on labor for assets…their very currency(labor) is being replaced and noone is blinking an eye because its good for profits.
Machine learning has all kinds of great possibilities and applications. You probably use many of them and don’t even realize it. LLM chat bots are just one part.
Apple just introduced live translation which rolls out this week, for example.
Hard to rectify the boomers love of Facebook with this. lol
I hate the horseless carriage.
Yeah and thats awesome!! I just don’t know for what cost… I cannot beleve most of tools are from our mainly intrest. It seems just to run business and make money
There are some truly spectacular uses for AI, but the industry as a whole is bloated with companies trying to jam AI into every possible use case because organizations are worried about being left behind or becoming technologically disadvantaged.
The most frequently glossed over part of this discussion is that the data scraping that occurred to train these models is theft in it’s purest form. Creatives didn’t consent to their intellectual labor being stolen for corporate usage and profit yet here we are. No individual creator can meaningfully opt out, so we succumb to endless resource extraction at the hands of big tech. Its exploitation. AI optimists often refuse to confront this fact, and it boils down to morality. It’s incomparable in every sense to human learning when corporate greed is involved. Most just get dazzled by the innovation, bend over, and spread their cheeks for daddy capitalism.
Every time I am graced by repulsive AI imagery I lose a year off my life. It’s so cheap, no value, and just pollutes needlessly. I don’t buy anything from companies than use it. If a seed company can’t afford an actual artist for their label art, what other corners are being cut as a breeder? Am I really supposed to trust that?
The only benefit that arrived from AI image generation is the fact I now get to charge a “human tax” as a working professional artist.
We are preyed on at the hands of big tech to keep us apathetic and burnt out at all times. It’s no conspiracy, it’s highly sophisticated software engineering built to exploit all human weakness and cultivate addiction in its purest form. They see us as money cows, our attention is the hottest commodity. 95% of my friends including myself suffer from a screen/media addiction. Very few of them can admit it’s a problem. This creates a state of constant overstimulation, burn out, apathy, etc.
There is a lawsuit ongoing with an AI company. It was determined that what they did with copywritten works was not the issue, but how they acquired them since they pirated the material to train the AI.
Ive been following along to see where it ends up. Currently the biggest piracy lawsuit in history at $1.5 billion
My buddy and I were talking about this the other day. We grew up learning programming together and while I decided to pursue different things, he became a successful programmer.
We both agreed that AI has its place in things. Just as any toolbox has its varieties of tools, AI should be treated the same. It’s a tool that you use to help leverage your time to accomplish goals more effectively. BUT You don’t use a ratchet to hammer a roofing nail, nor would you use a mallet.
The problem I have with AI is more how it’s used than the AI itself. Folks use it in the most LAZY ways possible and what’s even more insulting are folks who use AI like Chat GTP and straight copy paste, as if it’s the authority of information. All it demonstrates to me is that the user is lazy and cannot think for themselves. Ya know, look through the world with your OWN eyes.
AI art and the people who call themselves artists… LMAFO!! That roll of the dice. LAZY AF. Maybe use it to inspire to create art instead of ripping off other people. Just lazy ![]()
wow… that went off the rails FAST
Indeed, and the cost is just more (AI driven) wars for the minerals, gigantic datacenters everywhere and more nuclear or charcoal power plants to run them. Not to mention the massive amount of money used for this that could be used in something else, or the other massive amount of jobs that it will destroy. Oh and let’s not forget the technofascist clique it’s fueling. There’s also the many people going completely delusional after interacting every days with it.
But well, if with this tool a fraction of the people on earth can be lazier or playful than before, I guess it’s worth it. No need to worry on the consequences on others.
And I’m curious to see how many artists will get some money out of it…
I despise AI generated artwork in all forms.
AI companies rely on you using AI more, so they can increase their valuation and get more money.
Ever wonder what happened to all those NFT developers from a few years ago? They all left that bubble to work in AI.
I find AI slop annoying and lazy. Like a lot of LLM responses people copy paste on here are always like 10,000 words of unreliable garbage.
I have one word " DUNE" !

I actually am taking a break from a new friendship this week because I’ve been writing a screenplay (for fun) in my free time and I shared it with a dude that I’ve been becoming buddy buddy with about horror movies. I sent it too him to read over and he plugged all 137 pages of it into ChatGPT over an hour and sent me back the annotated AI breakdown and it’s suggested “Improvements”. Fucking blew me away man and I never thought he’d do that because how much he loves cinema and how supportive he was every other check in about it.
I’m mostly upset because now all of my hard-work, even if just for fun, was just fed to the AI algorithm and can be spit back at anyone so now pieces of my own creation may just be out there being generated for others.
