Different strokes and all that. I am unfamiliar with that technique personally and have no real experience to give any thoughts. I tend to stick to things I know work and work fast.
I also will not spray anything in flower ever. I have the ability at most times to be able to get back certain cuts and not everyone has that option so I suggest methods to suit ones needs and not necessarily what I would do exactly.
As to trying to save plants in flower that are effected in my eyes there is no way to save those plants per say. Pull them back to veg, trim them back real well, treat them and get them revegging again. Take cuts on new branches to save these and trash the rest. That is typically what I suggest and I also suggest harsh chemicals.
