Anyone used this SF auto water setup?

@nocal Yeah, I misread it. It’s all good. I found some couplers- I got the kit arriving today and a whole bunch of fittings and extra parts so we’ll just use the kit as a base and build it out from there.

Combining the kit with these DIY drain bases into a bucket with a condensate pump:

It will auto drain and auto pump out into a bucket outside the tent. All I have to do is empty the bucket every few days.

I was also looking into this this company. They have some really nice stuff for this type of system, but it’s on the expensive side, especially with shipping to AK.

It looks like all high-end rigid PVC base plumbing and they have whole watering and drainage kits but you’re looking at spending over 1000 probably on the whole system

These things are awesome… search though @Rhai88 's posts I think he’s been using those bucketcompany trays for a while.

I’d be really interested in talking to someone who’s actually used it. Thanks!

Personally not a fan of drip systems and a drip with a pump seems even worse, I prefer the liquid to go up, preferably as needed to reduce waste.
Ive considered the autopot but dont like either the width of the base, how it extends past the pot or the fact that every pot needs a valve which makes it too expensive.
I’m not saying I wouldnt have one, its the only auto set up I like really but it takes up more space and being in UK, space is always critical, like 50% extra width than the pot it supplies (roughly) and I see it as an expensive over complicated wick system.
Ive considered devising an all on one multi autopot that supplies a large tray holding 9 plants per tray or more, supplied by a small float valve in the tray itself, nutrient supplied using wicks or via a post reservoir sump with the float valve to supply capillary mats in the trays, the latter seems more Autopot like and would take 4 auto pots less of space and require only one valve and no specialised pots (in my head it would).
Not a fan of pumps as they cant be left too long and also heat the nutrient but Ive used a large GT NFT tank with good results, but again the pump is even more critical.

Sounds like an ebb/flow system would be good for you. It’s basically a big tray that holds all your plants and you flood it every so often to bottom feed. Less waste than a drip/drain to waste set up. It’s usually up on a shelf with drainage underneath, gravity based…

That’s was my original plan but couldn’t find the equipment locally and couldn’t get it shipped here.

My goal was to move over to Coco. Not necessarily auto irrigation. But with Coco, it seems like you’re not gonna benefit from it unless you’re watering at least once a day. If you’re not doing that, you might as well stay in peat.

Just my two cents as a beginner with a couple years under my belt.

We’ll see how it all pans out… In the end, I just wanna be growing the highest quality cannabis I can. Watering in peat once every three days is almost too easy… everything I’ve read seems to point to Coco having more potential.

I’m pulling some fire out of my tent right now with minimal effort… Yeah, we’ll see how it goes. I might pull back if this doesn’t actually improve the quality/yield.

If nothing else, it’s a very fun hobby at the end of the day

They look great!
I just noticed Autopot already do what I was dreaming up, its called a tray to go…

Thanks man. I’ll follow up in a couple months with a Coco comparison of the same strain.

Amazon ended up losing this thing in the mail so if it shows up, I get it for free, lol. :man_shrugging:

Got it for free, but it ended up not even opening it. It’s still in the box.

Just went full DIY on this thing. Just have to push a button and it waters the plants and auto drains into a bucket with a sump pump that pumps it out of the tent into another bucket. I probably lose 6 inches of height with the auto draining saucers… Not that bad considering I can run 1 gallon all the way to harvest with Coco.

Works great. Drain to waste.
I’ll probably run this for another harvest or two and then eventually upgrade to a 4 x 4 tent and 2 gallon pots but this is great for now. Already see a vast improvement versus peat based in 3 gallons.

Nice work dude, is that the cocoforcannabis style drain setup?

Thanks man. It works really well. Yep exactly followed that guide almost to a T, just changed a few little things.

I seriously considered going all in on the bucket company, but decided to DIY it.

Probably spent about $500 total (For both the auto watering system and the drainage) with enough extra parts left over to build this thing out three times over. Even bought an extra sump pump for a back up so I spent more than needed.

The bucket company trays are pretty slick, but then you’re kinda invested($$) in that style.

Oh damn!! What was so expensive? The sump pump? Buy once, cry once

Just saw you said you got two sumps… guessing that was most of it?

Right. For instance, I had to buy 500 feet of poly hose just to get it shipped to Alaska I think I spent over $100 on hose alone (bought three different types just to cover myself)… and only ended up needing about 10 feet of it.

You could probably get this thing together for under $200 pretty easily. The sump pump is by far the most expensive item at $120 with the next one probably being the aquarium pump at like $25.

The rest is just small parts and fittings.

And even the sump pump is almost a luxury item for this because you could pretty easily manually empty that bucket on the inside of the tent… so without that you’re looking at sub $100 for the whole set up. It really depends on your budget and what you’re trying to get out of it.

If the bucket company had reasonable shipping to Alaska, I probably would’ve gone that route. Definitely happy with this though.

I guess I have to take into account that I live in the land of $400 ounces and $60 grams of concentrate.

This equipment pays itself off VERY fast here.
