Are preflowers always accurate?

Some of my older seedlings are finally starting to show preflowers. There are a couple definite males and females and a few undetermined. Are preflowers always accurate? Has anyone ever had full on calyx/pistil female preflowers on a plant that budded male?

Asking because I was just going to throw these in a temp flower room to verify sex and then probably have to kill them, but if these preflowers are accurate I’ll go ahead and give them a nicer spot where they can finish. Thanks!

Typically accurate Unless you are disrupting the plants significantly

Oh, I’ll be harassing them constantly lol. Thanks, looks like I’ll be having some jungle spice sooner than I thought :sunglasses:

I think the plants are always accurate-- it’s US that can’t see! :mag:  I’ve missed the boat a couple times recently & it’s irritating. Culling a male late in a homegrow is acceptable though, imo…better than tossing a female () in the trash.

you can be certain that sexing based on the preflowers is accurate once you can definitively see pistils. I’ve seen people throw away a lot of good plants on other forums because they got impatient and threw them out as soon as they started to form a pod or calyx. Once it is sexed definitively based on the preflowers, that will be consistent through flowering unless you were dealing with some serious sexual instability.

That’s what I was hoping, thanks!

In my experience yes the pre flowers are accurate. I’ve never had a plant reverse it’s sex, only intersexing.
