After stopping the medication for four days, I started feeling back to normal. They put me on a lower dose of meds, but there is a part of me that is still doubtful that I need to be on the meds.
I have thought about iodine. I’m vegan and I eat a ton of leafy green vegetables. So I kind of figured that wasn’t it, but I need to check it out because something is still not right. My hair is still not growing after the thyroid meds, and I feel like total crap all the time.
Really appreciate your post! This whole deal has really been getting me down.
Sounds like I might have more than thyroid issues. They want me to go in for a CT scan on my lymph chain. I’m getting tired of telling the doctors what’s wrong. I told them when I meditate I feel something not right in my armpit. They just looked at me funny. Had an ultrasound and the lymph nodes are pretty enlarged. Yes doctors, I can meditate and tell where there is something wrong in my body.
Check youtube for lymph drainage massage and also lymph healing music, I have had all kinds of fuckerage up with my body that doctors don’t understand, even chi music healing worked when I didn’t really believe in chi
theres next to no iodine in leafy green vegetables. it might be something for you to consider just so some research and be prudent!
lymph nodes are a whole different thing obviously. its a whole system of the body that most of us know nothing about. have you gotten any more information??
have you fixed this? sounds like there are problems and something is off, i would ask if you take vit b? and if so what dose/.? you get hot and cold flashes but do you sweat? are you staying properly hydrated with water? my next thing would ask about your diet? your body sounds as if it is reacting to something toxic possibly as well? now it could be thyroid issues but are you on any medication now for them? if so how are you feeling now?
I will look into iodine. It sounds like I might have some other problems. I just got some blood tests back yesterday that say I have a low platelet count and I have nucleated rbc in my blood. I still need to talk to my doctor, but Dr. Google says that’s not good.
@blendmedmedman I am taking vit B, blood test says my levels are good. I don’t know about hot and cold flashes, I’m generally cold, but sometimes I still sweat. My diet is vegan, almost all organic, no gluten, avoid soy, no added sugars, no processed foods, no alcohol, tobacco or drugs other than weed. I drink one, sometimes two cups of coffee a day. I try and meditate regularly, but I have been slacking on my yoga practice cause my body always hurts so much.
Thank you both for your concern. I’m super stressed right now. Guessing I’ll be talking with my doctor tomorrow, and I hope she has some better scenarios than google. I need to schedule a biopsy of lymph nodes tomorrow as well.
I don’t know what a biopsy of lymph nodes is like, but I had some pretty large thyroid nodules biopsied a few weeks ago. The process was unpleasant, but not terrible.
I hope it goes smoothly for you, and you get good news that allows you to really address what’s going on!
Thanks man! Can I ask about your results? I didn’t end up getting a biopsy. The radiologist said the lymph nodes were enlarged, but otherwise looked totally healthy. He said he thought he could do more damage to a healthy lymph node than the results were worth.
As it turns out… it looks like the doctors were giving me medicine I didn’t need. They kept over dosing me on thyroid hormones, ended up in the ER a couple of times. I finally said I don’t care how bad my thyroid is, I can’t live a normal life while on this medication. So I quit taking it. I’ve had my blood drawn twice over a 5 month period and my thyroid levels are perfect.
Thank you! Sure glad I never trust doctors, or things could have been a lot worse.
@Howard.Crane Glad your lymph nodes were benign! I had a CT scan done, and the radiologist could tell mine were healthy. I think I just had an infection or something. Are you feeling better now?
I’d hazard a guess you’re deficient in something via your vegan diet if you’re healthy in all other areas and don’t smoke a heap of weed.
You should eat according to your blood type. Not everyone can handle a vegan diet and you need to source a lot of vitamins, minerals, branch chain amino acids and different proteins from many sources in lieu of meat.
I have nothing against vegans and I do believe it’s a noble cause but the diet simply does not work for everyone and can present many health issues.
Most vegans I know complain constantly of illness, constant colds, fatigue, lethargy, “depression” , iron deficiencies, “thyroid problems” etc etc
Go see a good nutritionist and get some blood work taken
A quick idea is to plug a full day of regular eating into the MyFitnessPal app and make sure you’re hitting all your micro and macronutrient targets. If you’re not getting enough carbs for example that can be a huge cause of “brain fog”
Also be aware that many vegan protein sources are not fully bioavailable and lack certain proteins and BCAAs the body needs. A scoop of pea protein for example might say “30g of protein per scop” but much much less is actually bioavailable to the body.
still kicking. after over a year of taking lugols my issues have largely resolved. i gained back almost 30lbs, my weight stabilized, my hair grew back, and my anxiety is about 90% less…definitely still some residual mental effects
Glad to hear you have had some positive results man what are Lugols ??
I have upped my daily dose of Iodine , to 2 drops a day, my hair is growing back slowly where it was thinning out. I haven’t noticed any thing else, weight is stable after losing 100+ lbs but I am giving the credit for that to the fasting and low carb diet.
lugols is probably what youre taking lol. its a solution of potassium iodide and elemental iodine in water. it usually comes in 2% or 5% strengths. i take 5 drops of 2% almost every day, for a total of 12.5mg iodine
what are you dropping over there? does it say ‘owlsley stanley’ on the bottle or something else?
Its called Thyroid Iodine, made by Code Age LLC. 650mcg pottasium iodide per drop and I do two, it recomends 1, but I read there is no real recommended daily limit but they say the Japanese get a lot and you shouldn’t exceed their averages.
If your doing 12.5mg thats like 4 times the average for a Japanese person in Japan, with all the fish and seaweed they eat. Quite a high intake you be careful and dont over do it.
I think I am going to double up again, see if it helps more. My nails and hair are stronger and faster growing for sure, as well as new hair growing back in.
