I’m not sure if it was a small Eastern Brown or a Whip snake.

Hopefully he F’s off to a neighbour’s yard so it’s not me paying for relocation and so my dogs won’t try to play with it.

We have an Australian Terrier, supposed to be a good snake and rat dog, in spring and fall, there are usually snakes warming up on the power service track ways, in the mornings, she just ignores them lol. Nothing poisonous in Nova Scotia, luckily. If it was a squirrel then it would be different

Australia is home to around 170 species of snakes
and at least 100 of them are poisonous to some extent, so there’s a good chance that snake is poisonous too.

We have snakes in Cali too, but in the desert. I would piss my pants if I came across a snake in my yard. lol

I live in the upper reaches of the Mojave Desert in California and my favorite snake, found around here, is the Mojave Green rattlesnake. It’s a beautifully colored rattlesnake and an extremely aggressive and dangerous one to mess with.
I used to catch them, and other local rattlesnakes, when I was a young man, to be milked for their venom to make anti venin for snake bite victims.

My cousin lives in Joshua tree, so far I have been more freaked out by Tarantula mating season, but my Dad and Cousins Hubby had to kill a rattler out there already. No thank you to that! btw
my cuz’s hubby did make a cool guitar strap from that snake

I’ve used lots of tricks to keep snakes away from my grows in the past.
Lightly dusting the perimeter w/sulfur probably worked the best, but there are plenty of DIY options.

Mix cinnamon and clove oil 50/50 and spray around the perimeter of your grow. This works very well with many species of snakes.

Garlic infused oil has worked for me, so has cedarwood oil.

Being a flower guy, I’ve planted plenty of snake repellent plants in my time, most of which are flowering plants. I prefer Marigolds, Lemongrass and/or Wormwood
these plants repel both venomous and non-venomous snakes due to their strong fragrances.

Note
be cool with the wormwood, it can become a very invasive plant in most areas and take over small ecosystems.

I haven’t really been taking props for a fake excuse to be where I go in the bush.

Not binoculars for bird watching, who TF walks that far in the bush to see some sparrows.

Nobody would believe for a second that I am an avid bushwalker type of guy just by looking at me.

There are no fishing spots anywhere close.

A few weeks ago I came up with the idea to pan for gold in the creek at the patch and just yesterday realised it is the perfect excuse for me trekking there and back. Today I purchased myself a gold panning kit, I can just hook up a pan onto my backpack and if anyone sees me they won’t even need to wonder what I’m doing walking out of the bush onto a main track if I get seen.

It will also give me a reason to have a full size shovel with me for when I take one there.

I’m a bit stoked about it all and there’s a possibility I might even find gold. :slightly_smiling_face:

That’s a great idea, all around.

Hey, is it me, or is that green rattler missing it’s head? I can’t get it to enlarge.

It’s a beautiful snake, I never heard of the green ones.

This is what we have roaming our woods. They feed mostly on deer. A friend shared this pic with me recently. It’s a male mountain lion. It’s the largest one I’ve ever seen. It was taken about 25 miles west of here closer to the large mountains.

I like that. Used to do some panning out in BC years ago. Wish there was some to find around here.

Bummer bro, that sucks
I am thinking anything that is chunky and finishes in feb is not ideal for our part of the world
a couple of years ago when we also had a wet feb, I had maybe 20 critical + fems that were in full flower and looking awesome one week, and then mostly black slime the next week
fwiw though unlike grey mould, botrytis is not toxic to people
in fact some of the very expensive dessert wines are made with grapes effected by botryitis as in grapes the stress increases sugare content

I normally keep it and extract it with naptha (shellite) which you can get for about $70 for 20l if you look on the intewebs
pretty sure there is a cleaning supplies place near where you are where you can get it
As a non polar solvent it doesn’t extract the chlorophyll and leaves no residue with a glass plate test. I used to use hexane but it is hard now to get and doesn’t work any better than the shellite anyway

Finishing times are interesting
I would have expected the GG/TUT to go longer, given that the GG/SS looks like it’s still a way off

The TUT was not an especially short flowering strain, going about 65 days indoor
about a week faster that the GG#4 was
The GG/TUT is stupidly potent smoke at least

FWIW bro, I lost about 1/2 of mine to rot also
and the worst was the BF Acapulco Gold
 :frowning:

Oh yeh the Tut GG still had a few weeks left in her for sure but I decided to grab it before there was none left. The Crockets haze GG looked like they were closer to finishing.

I bought the 12 gauge 00 buckshot snake repellent. It corrects automatically for shakey hands.

This is the main thing that worries me when being alone in the forest. Mountain Lions are basically shy, too. But, a cat that big
I wouldn’t want to walk up and spook him in the woods. I didn’t know they got quite that big. They trapped one here just over the ridge in my community a few years ago.

Hey @saxo, nothing with the seeds. I have someone looking for replacements for you. He has a line on some f2s or f3s. I’ll be on a mission to make it right now. It may be a hard one to come by. I may ask San, too, to see if he has any ideas. peace
