Autopots and Grow Dots

My next grow will be Autoflower Autopots 3.9gal with Growdots, Recharge, Calmag, Silica and RO water. Media will be either Royal Gold Tupur or a coco mix (undecided). Tent is a 2x4, light is a 240 watt RDJBouns. If all goes relatively well i intend to dial it in and make this my forever setup in the 4x4 tent. I have osteoarthritis and increasingly cant get in to water the plants like i would prefer. I love old school growing techniques but this grow is for us broken folk who need it a little more simple.

Good luck with your new venture.
I have been using autopots for about 2 years or so now and I absolutely love them.
I use Tupur gold with jacks 321.
I have 2-25 gallon reservoirs and once in flower they take about a week to run empty.
I use one reservoir at a time and always get the 2nd reservoir ready with nutes a day or two before the other is about to empty out.
Set it and forget it.
Happy growing and much luck to you.

oh i love this reply, i have been tossing around the jacks idea for a week or two, i’m thinking of switching to jacks once this bag of growdots is empty but i’m obsessed with the idea of keeping the res full of RO water only with weekly handfeedings of recharge silica and calmag. do you put the jacks directly n the res? any descaling/cleaning products?

I’m currently running autopots I put my nutes in tank along with some drip clean to keep the lines clean I find some kind of root accerator or h2o2 in the tank helps I found some strains roots didn’t like to sit in the water and would try to rot

Autopot also suggests you do not top feed as the salts build up about half way in pot since feeding from the bottom and can cause problems

i had thought this would be the case, i have a little trauma response from my city water scaling everything up. I switched to RO a year ago and have had calmag issues. I think i’ll take your advice and res everything. Growdots will go into the soil and this time around i have some silica, calmag and recharge for the reservoir but i’ll add dripclean and just watch for any issues. Do you keep nutes in the reservoir or do you alternate with water?

I just run house and garden full range in rez all the way up to flush but with autos probably only feed half the rec dosage of whatever feed they are picky

ah ok that makes sense, i still have fox farms habits of alternating feeding with water. i need to hire someone to come out of thin air and slap me when i try to make bad growing decisions, like that old SNL sketch

Haha the autopots are ok too be honest I don’t like them and I’m heading back to my old ways but that’s just me a lot of people think they are great

Mainly just because I have to many diff flavours all with diff finishing times and it gets tricky having them all on same rez

Root ball of one I just pulled out this morning

That makes sense. i’ll be growing white widow for a while and i just about threw my back out watering this morning so i need a change. Great color on those roots, do you use any of the additions like airdome or airbase?

That time I did not but if was too run them again I would use the dome to keep some oxygen at the roots the rez doesn’t like to have o2 pumping messes with ph to much in res so I’d say those domes be good

Best of success with your grow @SimpleHomeGrow !

When my 4x4 gets to packed to reach in there I have a funnel + 3 feet of 1/2inch pvc pipe. Lets me pour into the funnel and right down into where I need the solution to go!

:hugs:

I have used RO water and used water straight out the hose at 440 ppm
I have noticed no difference.
Jacks 321 in the reservoir with a wave maker running 24/7 in the reservoir to keep nutes nice and mixed in there.
Nothing bit success on my part.
I was using a few other amendments but noticed a bunch of great growers that I know only using jacks 321 and that’s it.
They mentioned that they did not notice a difference.
I tried it out myself and I have to agree 100%.

I thought about your advice and contacted jacks directly. They set me up with a great plan for when these growdots run out and I’m looking for the fast forward button now like that movie Click. Thank you for the tip

All you need is part A and part B and epson salt from target/walmart etc.
Don’t let them con you into buying all these different nutes.
You don’t need them.:+1::+1:

I am just about to switch to Jacks 321… just the basic formula. Coming from megacrop in the autopots.

That’s a nice root ball @Kiwigreen
