Seemed to take forever for my plants to ripen. Even the Kush plants went 12 weeks and still had mostly clear trichs so I don’t know WTF happened there. None of them other than the AK47 fattened up much after looking so good at 6 weeks flower. Basically got an oz and a bit off each but a little over 2 1/2 oz from the AK. Rather disappointing tho all the bud was very frosty. Not sure if it was the switch to MegaCrop or using a cheaper 1000W bulb after the stretch.

Out of the kushs’ I like the Hindu best. Went dark purple as it ripened and the dried bud has a great smell of grape and musk. I’m not so good at sniffing out the various odors but I like it.

This it it with one of the ISSxBB in the back and the AK in the front.

With the Sebring’s Revenge I pretty much trimmed off fans and leaf without sugar and fresh-froze the buds as they will be used for extractions rather than smoking. Most of it all will to make RSO etc to help the wife battle this liver thing.

Over at 420Mag there is a lot of research on using pot for cancer treatments and one is specific to liver cancer. My usual coconut oil isn’t recommended so we will be going with this.

The bioavailability of cannabinoids is lower when taken on an empty stomach or more accurately an empty liver. Oils are metabolised mostly in the liver and by eating fat 30 minutes before administering cannabis oil the liver will be otherwise occupied when the medicine starts to circulate. A tablespoon of coconut oil is widely considered to be a healthy and effective option. Other supplements can be taken with or mixed into this coconut oil…

The eating of the coconut oil is to otherwise occupy the liver. Coconut oil is easily absorbed by the small intestine and transported to the liver. This makes coconut and cannabis infusions/mixes particularly inefficient. For a liver problem it would be a very efficient delivery method however it’s perhaps still not always the best as vasodilation might be an issue. Your blood vessels (especially in the digestive system) become larger, allowing for increased blood flow, which is normally ok. However for people with gallbladder/liver problems, this means immediate inflammation and potentiall pain, despite any anti-inflammatory effects.

Just because a cannabinoid has found it’s way to the liver does not however mean that it will remain there to successfully treat any disease there.
As mentioned before the enzymes that metabolise cannabinoids are mainly found in the liver. A cannabinoid entering the liver is more likely to connect with an enzyme and be metabolised than to connect with a cancerous cell. This makes liver cancer a trickier one to treat without additional supplements.

Beneficially certain plant molecules are metabolised by the same enzymes that metabolise most THC molecules. The enzyme is called CYP2C9 and the molecules are apigenin and amentoflavone. Apinenin can be found in tablets and certain foods and amentoflavone is available in supplements for weightlifters such as Amentomax. These molecules, as well as having additional benefits, will give the enzymes “busy work” allowing the cannabinoids greater opportunity to circulate, connect with and destroy mutated cells both in the liver and throughout the body

Ingest apigenin and amentoflavone supplements 30—40 minutes before dosing to provide the liver enzyzmes “busy work” so the cannabinoids are metabolized away slower. Do not ingest coconut oil or other fats 30—40 minutes before dosing so the medicine can target the liver.

Pre-Dosage Preparation: 30—40minutes before dosage:
80 mg Apinenin
200mg Amentoflavone(Ginko Baloba,Amentomax)
1 Mango cup

Lots more research to do and there’s lots there to peruse yet.

I’m not trying to drag folks over there and plan to spend most of my time online here but for those in real need of cures and the way to get them there is a lot of good info there.

Sweet Sue is really embedded there and compiles a lot of research with her list of threads. My wife never takes vitamins or other supplements but that’s about to change drastically if she really wants to put up a fight and I’ll be pushing hard. She has a real hard time swallowing pills so I figure to toss them in smoothies so she can drink them.

Along with my depression comes a butt-load of lethargy. I got to start getting it together real quick.

@LabRat
I grew a strain called Hurkle when my wife was dealing with her liver “issue”. Hate saying that C word. Helped her with her treatments big time. Made her RSO and medicated honey out of it. Thank God it is all gone.

Good to hear. These f’n docs aren’t any help at all. I’m in northern Alberta and even getting basic care is hard. The docs are all from somewhere else and don’t seem to know much. Maybe it’s just the lousy pharma funded educations they get now but if they can’t throw a pill at it they are useless for the most part.

Her diagnosis is complicated. They can’t use MRI because she has metal rods in her back and couldn’t get the biopsy done last month when we drove 2 hours to the hospital as they couldn’t see well enough with ultrasound to guide the needle.

The situation sux large but thanks for the uplift!

That’s interesting, I was wondering on Tuesday when I took a big dose of THC oil why it took so long and didn’t knock me out.

Also something else I learned, CBD only binds to CBD receptors, while THC will bind with both CBD and THC receptors. So use the CBD first if you are using both.

What you said is pretty much true in layman’s terms. To be more specific, CBD binds weakly to CB1 receptors found mainly in the brain, and strongly to CB2 receptors found throughout the entire body. While THC binds strongly to the CB1 receptors (that makes you feel high) and weakly to the CB2 receptors.

This is why CBD tends to be more of a body high and not get you very high. When CBD weakly binds to a CB1 receptor it prevents THC from binding to it, this making you feel less high. Usually a 1:1 works best for whatever ales ya.

Cool, that was a lot better explanation than the one in the article I read :+1:

I think getting my shit together to go to BC was a big stressor for me. Finally booked a flight for early next week and feeling better with a deadline. Now just 12 hours on a dog sled to drive an hour to catch a bus for a 4 hour ride to the city then another couple hours getting a shuttle bus for a 90 min flight. LOL

Finally made some fresh infused coconut oil with that frozen pot and it worked pretty good.

Used 20g off each of the 4 plants with 560g of coconut oil and 40g liquid sunflower lecithin then heated until the bud water boiled off then went to 250 to decarb until bubbles stopped. Easy-peasy! lol

Got the oil hot then added the bud. A bit too hot as they sizzled like tossing battered fish into a deep fryer so I let it cool down before adding the rest.

Got my hotplate hooked up to my variac and ready to go.

Bud all added to the hot oil and ready for chopping up with the hand blender.

All chopped up and as good as when I run dry pot thru my 1mm mesh screen.

Checking temps against my analog thermometer. Very close so should be able to trust it.

Bite of coleslaw anyone? Sure turns brown after cooking.

Seems to work pretty good. Took a dose right after it was done then another just an hour ago. Very relaxed and mildly buzzed with a lot less joint pain. I find it takes daily use for a week or so for it to work steady all day so we shall see. I made enough to fill two 250ml mason jars and will take them to BC with me so #1 son can try it for his nerve pain. He has a bad back too so hopefully it does help.

Still have the 24 clones in the small pots and will be chopping them back to nubs before I go so they won’t need much care while I’m gone. Like they’ve been getting much care while I was here. lol

I’m going to set that bigger Hindu Kush up downstairs in a ScroG. I’ll repot it into a large pot tilted 45 degrees so it lays on top of the screen and get it tied down. Wife should only have to water it once or twice while I’m gone then I’ll flip to flower when I get back.

Buddy needed his tent back so I lost the frame I was hanging the light off of so have my LED thing standing up for now. Been like that for almost a month and the plants are doing fairly well none-the-less. As long as they are alive I can always take new clones from them.

Moving slowly but still moving at least.

Cant blame you for getting stressed when you have public transport timing to trust, with those many connections, I hope it goes smoothly for you Lab. How long will you be out there?

Couple of weeks. #1 son gets the boys every 2nd weekend and it’s this weekend then the 30th - 1st so will be headed back shortly after that is the plan.Just heard from #2 so hoping to get us together and do some coho fishing while out there. Maybe bring back a cooler full of fish. Used to fill my freezer every fall with those. Allowed 4/day and plan to go on my own during the week too.

Strained out my cocobudder and got about 600ml and a bit. Set it outside to freeze up as that’s supposed to make the lecithin bind with the cannabinoids after a coupe of cycles. Warming up now and will stick it out again before bed I hope.

Smoking a bit of AK tonight. Came out pretty good. Nice fruity smell and a really nice buzz so will make that one a regular.

Another good reason to get my grow permit is that you supposedly need that to be able to get labs to test your pot and I’m going to want to get a few tested as I do my crosses.

That’s interesting, never heard of freeze thaw cycles improving oil.

I ticked yes for equipment and stuff, when I applied for my license, but never bothered to ask for any details as to what or how they supply you. I never heard anything about it, so I think it is more optional than compulsory. You could have already got everything you need to grow for your 4 rec plants when it is was legalized, they don’t know.

Maybe I’ll just do the same.

Applied for a boost on my credit card and they actually did it. Fools.

Getting a big raise next week with my old age pension. From $800/mth disability to $2400! Be living the life of Riley now me lad. I’m at my sister’s in Chilliwack, BC since yesterday. Went fishing for coho on the beautiful river of the same name but only had an hour before dark and went home skunked. Blew $150 on a new rod and reel and with some tackle and licenses was around $250. 8 day licence then $36 for another one. I had to pay $30 for a salmon tag to keep any fish, 4/day, but that’s good until end of March. I should have just paid the $55 for a year but it runs out end of March too. $72 for two 8 day permits. DOH!

Headed for bed. Just dropped in to let ya know I made it and it’s great to be here!

That’s good to know man, glad you’re having fun. Quadruple raise in income can’t be bad, I am pleased for you, takes a bit of stress off.

That’s exspensive licenses for fishing, very cheap compared to the UK but exspensive for Nova Scotia, $25 is what I paid for my last licence and that covered everything for a year. You can pay $10,000 a year in the UK just to do coarse fishing in an old gravel pit, and have to release everything you catch, to fish trout or salmon is even more exspensive, a if you can even get the license due to limited numbers of available licenses.

Turns out the raise is not such a big deal as they’re clawing back half of the wife’s disability. We’ll be about $300 - 500 to the good over before. :frowning: Time to start breaking some laws to be able to live like a human.

These are non-resident prices I’m paying for fishing licenses here so it’s a lot more than if I lived here. 2 days ago got a nice Dolly Varden about a pound and a half. Thought it was a coho jack at first until I saw the yellow spots and white leading edges of the fins. Dolly aren’t a salmonid but a char like brook trout. Gave it a kiss and it’s freedom. Went up today after trying to get a new battery for my phone and got a little wet. No fish tho. They don’t call it a rain forest for nothing.

Phone battery is about to pop. All swelled so bad it cracked the back of the protective shell I’d put on it new. I wondered for months what could have caused that. Not plugged in when I go to bed tonight!

Hoping to see the guy I won my Mega Crop nutes from at his hydro shop in Mission on Tues. He’s got 2 new, in box, 600W mag ballasts I can have for 70 each. YeeHaw! Got to build my addition now!

Got the newer Stephen King book today. Doctor Sleep, sequel to The Shining so off to bed to snuggle up with a good book.

Has any one heard of research into ingestion of decarbed whole bud?

Yes I have and there are two ways to go.

Decarbing in the oven loses most terpenes but should destroy the crystalline hairs that can cause problems for people with intestinal issues.

I have no such problems and often just pop a dried bud into my mouth and wash it down with whatever liquid is available. Half hour later I’m wasted!

For edibles I think decarbing is not needed .If you’re baking raw pot that will decarb it fine. I’m still researching but it seems like raw extracts or bud may be as good or better than decarbed.

Already with my CBD strains I just trim rough to remove any leaf without resin then freeze for later use. Hate trimming!

THCA ingested tends to have a non-THC effect.
THC ingested is turned into Delta-11 THC which has a increased effect of 2-4 times that of smoking it, depending on the person.
CBDA ingested has the same effect as CBD ingested. No reported increases or decreases in effect that I’ve read or seed.

Feel free to comment, add anecdotal evidence, correct it or provide citations, etc.

That’s something I’d like to get some real data on. I would really be a boon if it were for sure even as effective as decarbed product. Taking larger doses with less impairment would benefit many.

Dealing with vehicle registration hassles here. Seems my high security drivers license is just secondary ID. The want a f’n birth certificate or passport too. Wife at home hunted it down finally and texted me a pic and now my sister has printed me out a copy so they better like that or I’m getting my first assault charge for sure!

It’s a tattered, yellowed old paper one from 1954 and would have jammed a fax machine. lol

May be on my way home tomorrow taking the northern route as weather is bad further south thru the Rockies.

Fingers crossed! Good snow tires and AWD with plenty of ice road experience will get me home safe. Google says 14.2 hours and 12.2 on the southern route thru Jasper. 60cm of snow there today and 40 more expected tomorrow. More like 20 hours going the southern way I bet. Light snow here and there in the middle of my route then clear home.
