So do you steam dumplings in that before or after the IMO collection??
Haha I guess before, unless I need some microbes in me
The real question is can i fill up both chambers to double my collection?
Swing for the fences my friend!
I would only do one level for one collection. The 1/3 airspace is key and I would think if you put the divider in there it might mess with that relationshipā¦
just thinking out loud?
I would get 2 collections from 2 different areas if it were me. Just cover one with paper towel or t-shirt or something.
Could be right. I will try just one for the first time to get some going then try the two
Good idea. One of Loganās big things is to master the recipe before trying to experiment.
This way you know how things should look/smell/taste etc as Cho intended.
Hope you donāt mind me posting my experiments and journey with the KNF here @BeagleZ since you basically were my catalyst to learn.
Washed rice, undercooked some rice, spread it out to cool, put it in the awesome collection plate, added some of my Microbes/fulvic to attract beneficials, put it underneath a bamboo cluster where I found some mycelium, covered that back up, and then found a wild pear tree I didnāt know about. Itās struggling so hopefully I can find a way to help it regrow. I picked some of the pears and with a couple of then I chopped them up, added 2/3 cup brown sugar, and some more Microbes/fulvic. Now we play the waiting game!
Shouldnāt have taken so long to get to this, itās super easy and actually kind of fun. Iām on new meds so I actually have motivation/focus/energy to do the things I want. Anyway, hereās some pics
Awesome dude! I find it a lot of fun as well, and love hearing other peopleās experiences! Please share anything you want here!
The only thing I see that I would do different is chop up the pear more, and mix better with the sugar. Iāve found itās best to get all surface coated with sugar and the more surface area the better.
And I always mix until I see the material start the osmotic pressure reaction
the rabbit whole, it is wide and deep
Awesome thanks man, you give me a lot of good vibes, I appreciate you!
Yeah, I had figured it wasnāt really chopped up enough and I just sort of dumped the sugar in there instead of coating it. I Will let that one sit and just see if it works, no worries if not.
However I will use your advice and I am going to cut up some pineapples I got to eat tmrw and will mix that in a bowl with some sugar and make sure to coat it all.
I have 2 male plants I am going to desolate tonight to put the branches in some water cups to collect the pollen, so I will have a bunch of leaves to make another concoction as well.
I need more Mason jars
Chasing that
About 3-4 days later. The LAB is not going very quickly, maybe not hot enough?
, the ferment looks good? Idk how to tell, is all the brown juice the good stuff?
And my IMO collection plate. The black stuff is the fulvic I sprinkled on. Got some growth for sure.
The labs is prob good to go, does it smell like yeast or slightly cheesy?
If it does Iād mix it with the milk.
Yup, the juice is what your after. You want a slight alcohol smell and a few visible spots of white IMO. Then you know itās done.
Donāt press it like I have done in the past, you only want the free flowing liquid.
If you have the alcohol smell and no visible IMO and itās been 7 days, strain it anyway
Yeah man, looks like you got some good stuff in your catch. I would have left it a little longer to colonize more. If you pick it up and itās not warm in the bottom put it back.
But that looks good enough to me to try and get IMO2 fermenting and see what happens.
It is best to get the catch in the sugar quickly, under 10 minutes if you can.
Good vibes bro, love your that your digging in!
It does smell slightly cheesy! Thatās what that smell is. I will probably mix with milk tmrw then, maybe give a little more time. Do I strain this one and then mix with milk, and try to keep the bottom layer out, right?
Itās been about 4 days on the ferment so I will wait till tmrw as well.
Yeah, I didnāt touch it, just took off the top plate to check it. Itās supposed to rain heavy this afternoon, do you think It will be okay?
Iām loving it. Experimentation and learning are what life is about! Thanks
What did you mean by this?
Yeah, I usually strain mine and stop pouring about an inch before the bottom stuff come out. I put that down the sink, itās great for your drains.
Prob good you pulled before the rain. Iāve had several ruined just by the humidity, not getting wet.
One way to find outā¦ just do it lol but if it smells good Iād say itāll work
You want to mix the rice collection with the sugar quickly as the microbes die rapidly once exposed to light and air.
I try to do it right there where I collect within minutes. Or I wait to open the collection box until Iām set and ready to mix.
Okay, cool! I will get on that then, thanks
Idk why it says that emote is ācall me,ā its a Shaka to me!
Mixed up the IMO 1 with the brown sugar, and made up some Canna FPJ with male leaves and stems. Fingers crossed it works.
Right on dudeā¦ did you have two collections? Why the 2 jars, if itās one collection Iād just put in one jar.
Just one collection. I honestly didnāt know how much space I was going to have and so started the two, and figured why not. I realize now thatās kind of a waste of space. Itās whatever, I grabbed 12 of those jars for 13$, so I got plenty more.
I have to look up the next steps now to make IMO-3, or can I stay at this stage? If I stay at this stage, can I store it, and how long does it last? Off to research!
Yeah IMO2 can be stored long term
Great. IMO3 looks complicated. Well, not exactly complicated, but not as intuitive.
I strained the FFJ, and sprayed down my younglings and the flowering plants. Did 7.5 ml into 1500 ml of water. Think thatās a decent low dose, or should I aim for higher?
Probably got about 50ml total of the good stuff after straining. It smelled like molasses, slight bit of alcohol/ferment and had some little bubbles rise to the surface. I saw that was a good sign.
Hope you have a great day!
