BeagleZ KNF/homemadeInputs Shelf in the Corner

@BeagleZ I’m fermenting my first batch of JMS right now. How long can it be stored for and what’s the dilution rate you use? Excited to try it out on my lawn and houseplants before my lovely ladies try it

You don’t store JMS, it is meant to be used right away. Once the ring starts to break up it’s is dying.
You can then use that as JLF though.

JMS for foliar is 1:10, for root drench is 1:20.

JLF is a lot higher, I think like 1:100 but I’ll have to go look to be sure on that.

The timing can be a challenge for sure. I usually try to time my applications for right before a rain as I don’t want to do the 1:20. So I always drench at 1:10 and let the rain take care of the rest.

This thread is awesome, going to have to start with some LABS here soon. :sunglasses:

@BeagleZ what do you think of collecting IMO from different areas, do you think the diversity just makes it that much better? Would you combine them together?

Awesome, welcome aboard @Dr.VitaminGreen !! Glad to have you around…
Yes, diversity is key. From what I have gathered it is best to collect from within a few miles of your area. In un disturbed forest or leaf litter or bamboo batch is best.
You want to keep your collections separate to IMO2. But you can combine when making the solution for IMO3 and I would recommend it.
Right now I have 3 jars of imo2 from around my property at different locations.

Good vibes!

Lol ya I really need to get some worms churning over here. What type of bin are you using, I cant remember off hand. Is it a DIY bin of sorts or something like a worm tower?

I want to get a few going but I better just start with one.

Okay, I actually have bamboo clusters, and undisturbed areas of forest. I was wondering about wandering down to the swamp near me and leaving out a collection plate as well lol.

Got to get a wormbin as well, I’ve been slacking

Its a worm cafe from tumbleweed @bassman5420, was going to make my own but got this on a sale for a steal at the time. Way cheaper than I would be able to make it for. It has worked very well for me. if you go that route, skip the blanket they sell, the worms just ate it.

worth a shot, though it might be a bit too wet in a swampy area. Only one way to find out  Let us know how it works if you try it!!

How’s the smell on that pre-fabbed? My wife would rather me spend the money on something like that than have potential smells in the house lol

No smell at all. A little IMO or LAB would take care of any offensive odors but I have never had any.
I do not put many kitchen scraps in my bin though, those go in the outside compost pile for the most part.

Cool, thanks for that, I will use you as an example haha

Well I think my first rice wash attempt failed lol. Made some weird chunky film on top and started smelling like cheese. Guess I will do another wash but this time I wont let @Pluckyevil wash the hellllll out of it, so we can attempt to keep the contaminants down heh.

Great thread @BeagleZ Thanks.

Any experience with FAA? Gonna try to make some with a few feeders and a big goldfish

I also buried a pufferfish in the pot with the Corkscrew Willow, didn’t wanna fool with that one haha.

I think you were ok… you will get separation in the wash. I usually strain mine. There will also be yeast I guess at the bottom that you don’t want.
You may have let it go a bit long if it was already cheesy but was prob still good.
Once it gets in the milk the lacto will take over.

Guess I should not have jumped the gun. I just did not like the smell so I got rid of it lol…

Yes indeed. One of my favorite inputs!
Been meaning to update on the one I have cooking.
I’m 2 weeks away from being able to start harvesting off it.
Made from wild caught branzino carcasses…

I say go for it. Or freeze it till you have some more to make it worth while. You want to let it sit for 3 months minimum before using so I like to make more than I’ll need. It only gets better with time. :alarm_clock:
