So I have heard that Mr. Nice stuff isn’t what it once was. I’ve seen a guy called Beanhoarder on Hemp Depot with Black Widow repro’s and bunch of hybrids made with it. I’ve seen one grow report on the forums where someone found one good female out of four and said that it might be better to do a large grow and hunt out keepers, although I’m more interested in a male for breeding.
Does anyone know when his BW would have been acquired? I would buy straight from Shanti but it seems like he may have lost some parental stock at some point from what many have said. Or maybe many people online are full of shit, what’s the lowdown of current MNS BW?
Hazeman has some early-mid 2000s Seedsman White Widow available but I can’t find any information online about that offering other than that Seedsman is “a collector of worldwide genetics” started around that time. I’m looking for the original 90s genetics, doesn’t really matter if they came straight from Greenhouse.
I’m honestly curious myself, white widow was the first thing i grew from named seeds and have a pack of barneys widow.I know sharons widow cut is around which i believe is “the white widow cut”.
I’m interested in the Sharon too. It’s available from SkunkVA right now last I checked. It’s just way too finicky for me to take care of correctly right now but I will hopefully have it one day…

That’s the nature of older cuts. I been following the sharon cut in here since it started.I would assume it’s probably a Hawaiian cross with it or perhaps a cut sourced from there. I don’t really believe selfie seeds from older genetics due to them known to be sterile/marketing selling outcrossed seeds.
Seek the old GHS stock would be my advice if U can find f2s from someone like say nirvanas regs from resellers or joey weeds if anyone has any of those left or reprod
If you’re in a legal state i would check out vender events. Highend smoke shops will have them sometimes. Someone may be selling clones and have a cut of white widow.Some people around may have killer cuts.

This doesn’t answer the question about the source date of his Black Widow, but I think a lot of the crosses showed up on hempdepot back in the early 2010’s (using the Internet archive/ Way back machine). I have the last pack of Sweet Tooth #3 x God bud and it first appeared on the website the summer to 2013.

I don’t think there’s anything wrong with Mr Nice seeds, I mean shantibaba is with them. He’s the original breeder of WW. I saw an interview where he said to get the cannabis cup winning WW phenotype you will need to search through some bean. He said maybe 1/50 is the cup winning pheno. So you’ll need to search though a selection.
But also, on strainly Cloney Soprano has the 1995 cut of WW for sale.
So perhaps order a pack or two of black widow from Mr nice and make f2s then search search search, and or get a cut of the 95 WW from Cloney Soprano.
That’s good to hear. Everything I’ve seen growers say about it is that it’s a tough grow. There’s a post online from (I think the guy who found her) where he calls Sharon Widow “The Bitch” because of the finicky nature… But that gives me hope!!! Lol

A Google search of Barney’s widow comes up with Barney’s Farm “Widow Remedy” where he crossed a Mexican to Indian and threw in an Afghan and said “Widow is supposed to be Brazil x South Indian, close enough I guess” and that is not at all what I’m looking for lmao
Are you in a legal state? If so check out high end smoke shops. They often have vender events where people sell their products. Someone may have a cut of widow if you come across one.
There are some killer growers in states. You just gotta find em, that’s why i recommend vender events. If something can be found for me here in New York, chances are i can find it in person and just a matter of time🙂Cuts are around, they’re just a matter of time finding. You can be persistent constantly looking. Especially older cuts, they rarely hit the online market and when they do it’s very limited only happening. Right now is a good time to look because cuts will pop up around this time.
I’m in a legal state, yes. How can I verify that a cut that someone has at an event in person is legit? I’ve never seen any of these famous plants irl before and wouldn’t know how to identify them.
One of those events that happened at a grow shop around here got busted by the cops a couple years ago. The only arrest was the guy that owned that shop but it makes me kinda paranoid
