Good morning, Growmies. My pine tar Kush female has a new Compadre beside her. Upon the advice of a couple of members, I pulled her partner, believing he was a male. @MissinBissin, she is doing great. Starting to tighten up.

Next question, what is happening with this plant? Looks to me like something with the roots underground.

Thanks again @Ivy for the crooked neck squash. The jungle is too thick to tell how many I have, but I did find this one.

I would very much like to find a banger cultivar of the pine tar variety. Do any of the beans of yours in @Wizdom auctions fit that bill? Thanks!

THCeed has blessed me with many of his fine projects for the auctions, Thanks Brother, but I believe nothing thats pine. Sorry :v:

I have a Katsu Holy Grail x Aloha White Widow outside that smells amazingly of pine tar. Juicy calyx’s full of it. I put it out too early and it re-vegged. Was going to chop it but it is so sticky and smells so good I just did major defoliation and staring to see 3 and 5 prong leaves again. I hope it produces. I don’t know what I am doing with it. Never seen anything grow like this. I took some cuts of some new growth with 5 leaves. Hopefully they root. Any advice on saving her to produce would be most appreciated
Current state: cut every other node off on main branches. Trimmed much of old growth

Previous state prior to trim

Thats a nice looking squash… ya done good. I bet there’s more hiding in there somewhere. They have a long harvest window; I find most of mine as the plant starts to die back a little later in the year & they’ll keep on the counter a couple-three weeks pretty well.
I hear if you keep them cool & dry you can store them for a couple months. This is a long winded way to say you don’t have to worry as much about finding them before they rot as you would other veggies. :man_facepalming:

This is my first time growing it, as I got the beans from @MissinBissin in some bud that he shared with me. What strains is he auctioning?

Thanks for that. Do you have a favorite way of cooking them? Or should I just Google and find something that tickles my fancy?

If you want to keep that going, you better get a couple of cuts off to the cloning room.

I did get some cuts thankfully. Just going to let her do her thing and see what comes. Too far in it to chop her now. Good learning experience if nothing else

I generally grow a boatload of them and end up canning about 7-8 gallons of soup. A few times I’ve cubed it and sautéed in butter/olive oil… once w/ a little garlic… a couple times w/ some maple syrup & cinnamon (or nutmeg…can’t remember…) I think there was some brown sugar in there too. A friend sautéed some in coconut oil w/ some andouille sausage & cayenne… that was pretty damn good.
A quick google searched looked like it had some nice recipes for sautéed butternut squash. They look pretty close to what I did. Its pretty forgiving stuff; easy to get some inspiration from recipes & just kinda wing it.

I’ll dig around and see if I can find the soup recipe later today. I guess you could always scale it down & make a small pots worth.

So here is what I did, suspecting that it is a male. When I uprooted it, I kept this Branch alive on it. For two reasons, one to make sure that it is a male LOL, and the other reason is so that I would have a little bit of pollen to hit up a branch with.

That picture, of the plant in the playground, seems to capture everything. What an awesome photo, the more I look at it. At first I was thinking too bad the plant is so small, but after staring for a while it’s the perfect size for the photo.
