My close friend and his wife will be visiting Amsterdam in July and they will bring me some gifts ( seeds only) but I am not sure where to direct them.
It can be Karma regs, Ace , Khalifa or K.C.Brains or other solid breeders but I am not sure. All suggestions are welcome
Ideas on coffeeshops and hostels are also much appriciated. Thanks
Had it in my list once , with T.N.R. , NL#5xHaze and Ace Panama regs but they never dropped in my postbox
I only got %50 discount for next order and no recovery mail was sent.
K.C. is always a good option with great prices. Thanks @SmokingGun
If they buy seeds in Amsterdam, they’ll most likely getting ripped off in the tourist trap shops.
The streets are full of them and almost every single one will sell seeds which aren’t originally packed and they have endless lists of strains on their counter.
Make sure they buy from a breeder directly if they have a shop(barneys, greenhouse etc) or go to the “Amsterdam seed centre”.
I personally would go to that shop.
They have a good selection of breeders we all know and keep them in a huge fridge for the customer to see. No dodgy business there, they’re all originally sealed packs.
Thanks for detailed write up @stiffy . I read and heard the same from different sources about tourist traps and already warned them about it. It’s good to hear positive things about ASC, I already have them in mind but still hard to decide on beans
Better check their page again , to get even more confused for a pack of beans
Had a quick look at their stuff, looks like Shoreline is popular and I remember I once added Fallen Angel in my list but deleted later for something else. Chiesel sounds delicious too but not in stock or discontinued maybe.
Which one you liked best ? @Ras-T
Thanks for reply
Karma and KC brains you can probably grab a pack of karmas and a couple more from KC as his gears pretty cheap like literally you can buy a few packs of each of his entire catalogue for the price that some charge for one pack of seeds
Tell them to visit The Grey Area. It’s over by the Anne Frank House. It was my favorite shop when I visited 20 years ago. I’ve spent a couple weeks there on a few different trips.
We stayed at the Botel one time. But, looks like they moved across to the other side of the IJ river. The best bet is some place close to Centraal Station. The inner loop of the canals is the Red Light District. the cheapest/worst hostels are there. Expect tiny rooms, steep stairs, doors that can’t open all the way, and a full bathroom in half the size of a closet. Then any transit line in the city will run back to Centraal Station, so it’s easy to jump on a Tram and get around.
The Southwest corner of the city is the ‘american center’ by Leidseplein. That’s where the Casino is, and the Rijksmuseum, and Van Gogh museum.
Van Gogh museum is amazing after visiting the smart shop for some truffles. but The Starry Night is in NYC at the MoMa.
Heineken brewery is a fun visit. but… not that fun on truffles. When they pumped in the cardboard smell into the 4D movie of being a beer bottle getting boxed… yeah. i lost it at that point. tapped out. Didn’t even get my free drinks.
Then… I found out it’s very illegal to lay on a bench. Then… We went on a boat tour, and got hit at a canal intersection. boat smashed thru my window. That’s the captain, checking the damage. where I was just sitting. and our heineken glasses (in a tin jar) from the brewery tour. My reaction was to take a picture. cuz. i wasn’t sure if what I saw was real.
Boom Chicago is the Improv Theater show. it’s like $30 for dinner and a show.
Red Light district at night is an experience. You get to see the old town drunks ask girls “how much are youuuu?!” and them say “too much for you, go away, you have no money.”
We visited a lot of coffeeshops. I can’t really remember which was which 20 years later. Grey Area was my favorite, when Bubblegum was new. Bulldog was okay. Some just felt like chain shops, selling “1 marijuana please” to the next guy in a suit.
Wow, what can I say! This whole post will be sent to my buddy, great summary.
Thanks so much @anon77330801 for taking your time.
The accident looks crazy but also kind of, expected to occur in Amsterdam
Whenever i used to go to Dam I’d buy seeds from Sensi Seeds but a lot of their stuff I’ve grown has been quite disappointing. I don’t bother with Dutch Seedbanks anymore.
I tried numerous from Barneys, Sensi and Dutch Passion. I’d say from my experience Barney’s > Dutch Passion > Sensi
Lol! Yeah. I was a young Marine n the Philippines n the early 80’s. Thai stick, some wild ass liquor call Deabsince, or somethin like that. Said it was opium based. Wheh!!! We called the gals there LBFM’S. It was $5. $10 long time. Which included breakfast and a bootshine. Lol.
