Best Air Purifier for Home, Specialist Advice to Help

I have researched about the best air purifier for home use over the past few days because I’m concerned about indoor air quality—especially with allergens, dust, and occasional smoke from nearby wildfires. I read reviews on Consumer Reports, Wirecutter (New York Times), and Popular Mechanics, and these two models are consistently rated among the best:

However, I’m having trouble deciding which one would best suit my needs and would really appreciate some expert advice. My home has:

  • A living room with carpet and pets

  • A bedroom with someone who suffers from seasonal allergies

  • Occasionally must deal with cooking odors and wildfire smoke

So which one would be better for my situation? If you’ve used either—or have another recommendation—I’d love to hear your thoughts!

Thanks in advance

I have a Dyson one and it seems to make a difference. Although it always says air quality is bad.

Amazon sent me thisnone to review and it worked quite well but its a bit pricey.

I bought one of these from Costco it was on sale for 99.99$, plus Costco has excellent warranty and return policy if it doesn’t suit you

I’ve been using the carbon filters/inline fans in our litter box rooms, and I have one next to my computer. it sucks all the smoke out of the room real quick, too.

The haun & guan 4" inline fan/filter setup, with the controller, has been the best. easy to set the fan power/noise level. seen here. next to my pitcher plants/ vft’s.

Brand new user who continues to farm amazon links - flagged as spam again and tagging @Calyxander and @LemonadeJoe for visibility.

The user is being nice/asking nice questions but in my opinion this screams scam/bot/hack/bad actor. Would be happy to be incorrect and paranoid here.

I have noticed that too Dyson picks up on even the smallest particles, so it can show bad air quality more often than we expect. At least it means its doing its job.

yes it look like good but these two i have mentioned are recommended from different trusted websites. Thank you for your suggestion

I just want to clarify that I am not flagging anyone. I understand the concern you raised but my intention here is only to participate and ask questions. Definitely not a scam or bot.

Mine is a Philips and it’s been good for 7 years. I searched cigar and pipe smoking sites to find something with good value for my money.

But few things beat a smoke hood and an exhaust fan.

I have asthma/COPD, I go online to find out my daily air quality. If need be I wear a mask. I should use air filters. There are dyi options, 4 hepa filters built into a box with a box fan on top, pulling the air through. There are also portable monitors for air quality. heres a link for one of those. The site also has masks, air purifiers and such.

I have a couple Blueair purifiers, they work nicely for a household environment imo. The 211+auto is more than enough for a large room like a kitchen/living room; we basically never have the smoke alarms go off anymore if I burn something.
