Best garden pruner, Expert recommendations to choose

I researched the best garden pruner to find the perfect tool for regular gardening tasks. After reading expert reviews from reputable sources like the new york times, gardeners world and fine gardening, two models consistently stand out as top recommendations:

The Felco is a classic bypass pruner known for its precision, replaceable blades and durable forged aluminum handles. It is highly rated for general purpose gardening and is favored by professionals for its long lasting performance and comfort.

On the other hand, the Lowe is a professional grade anvil pruner made in Germany. It is built for power with a strong cutting mechanism ideal for tough and woody stems. It is robust, sharp and well suited for heavy duty use making it a great tool for tougher jobs around the garden.

However, I am having trouble deciding which one would best suit my needs. I mostly use pruners for trimming shrubs, cutting small branches, light pruning and seasonal garden cleanup. Comfort, clean cuts and long term durability are important to me.

So which one would you recommend, Felco or Lowe? Any advice or personal experience would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance

Felco, but there are some good knockoffs around and better pricing.

Felco 2 is the industry standard for professionals in the United States.

Bypass pruners are for cutting living tissue. Anvil should only be used on dead material because it can crush living material.

If you want pruners that are comparable to Felco but not as expensive, I suggest looking at AM Leonard. Lots of industry professionals use AM Leonard, especially in Ohio where AM Leonard is located. I had a pair that was used and abused almost every day for close to 10 years before I decided to get new ones.

Thank you all for your helpful replies and expert insights, really appreciate the guidance.

After considering your suggestions and thinking about my typical gardening needs, I went ahead and bought the FELCO F-2 068780 Classic Manual Hand Pruner. I have to say, it is been an excellent choice. The clean, precise cuts and comfortable grip make all the difference especially for longer pruning sessions.

It truly lives up to its reputation durable, smooth and feels built to last. I now understand why it is the industry standard in the U.S.

For anyone still deciding, I highly recommend the Felco F-2. It is worth the investment if you want a high quality tool that delivers great performance over time.

Thanks again for pointing me in the right direction.

I wouldnt go nothing else than a felco… i have a felco 11, and it will last a lifetime… plus u can take it apart, clean it and replace any part in case it breaks… a bit on the pricey side, but totally worth it

My trusty Felco 2 pruner is 30 years old. A couple of Christmases ago I received a pair of bonsai shears from a gift exchange. For trimming and grooming I use these now.

Reasonable price, sharp, durable and excellent in tight spaces.
I only use my Felco for cutting the stem on harvest day.
