Best hosting site for cannabis bean business? (Hemp beans of course 😁)

Wix ? Wordpress ? Square space ?
Something else ?
Do we have any website design folks around here that could recommend a good hosting site for a hemp bean business that is affordable , somewhat easy to use and allows for multi menu drop down options.
I found Go daddy to be rather lame and limited in what you could do and more expensive than some of the other options available now.

Mephisto are using shopify by example. A basic drop shipping platform.

I believe the 2018 Farm Bill makes it perfectly legal to have a bean business online. I’ve found that Wix wasn’t very user friendly. It’s much like GoDaddy. Wordpress would work well with WooCommerce. Finding a good host is probably equally important as the CMS. I would recommend one that has a GUI like cPanel.

Edit: Look into the ‘payment gateway’ options too. If you want to collect CC you’ll need a CMS with an authorize.net gateway or something of the sort.

Yes I would prefer to be able to take payments like any other site , the hemp bill from my understanding allows for a bean business based on your adherence to local laws also.
In my case hemp bill states beans are legal to have shop and sell , California rules to sell hemp beans requires a hemp sellers registration fee to be paid or a nursery license to be held , the hemp sellers fee is cheaper but I maintain a nursery license already.
Looking into if my county has any hemp regulations on the books atm

All these terms are strange to me. I dont know much about the internet or selling seeds. Is there a book that would explain how the seed buisness is run ? Thanks !

^ I second this ^

The way it’s run has been an ever evolving subject that has changed a lot since the 2018 farm bill.
The history of it would make a great book if it doesn’t exist already.

It’s shy but the wolves are out ^^

I’m on hostinger since a while, very practical and fast when you need multiple labels. But you have to know wordpress and PHP a bit. When you’re hating to code like me, it’s a pain.

Maybe it’s a good opportunity for OG dev/stoner to push … i’ve a fucking JS and cascading CSS atm that make me crazy if any ^^ And many more annoying things with this damned composite theme … :joy:

I’ve used Orange Website out of Iceland. It’s very cheap. Plus, their country puts a high value on privacy.
But I’m not sure how their front-end building/layout tools are? Maybe similar to Wix? But maybe harder :slightly_frowning_face:

If your company is listed as a Novelty company, can you get away with selling the beans no-hassle (like Romulan Genetics… sells pictures of hemp plants and gives beans as a free gift)
It’s a tricky thing to navigate. I hope you find better answers than what I’m providing!:joy:

And, yeah. Stay away from Go Daddy. They used to be legit, but is now a real shady scam

I run growingupganja.com in my personal google cloud environment running woocommerce with wordpress.

The information about payment gateways is very important and it’s the hardest part of what you’ll have to do. If you’re selling anything related to cannabis, they’re gonna require you to have a cbd/hemp high risk account and you will not be able to use any of the payment gateways like PayPal, stripe, square etc.

Most of these accounts will require a monthly fee of anywhere between $100 and $300 per month before any transactions are made.

Its taken two years of trial by fire to get setup and accepting credit cards or debit. You won’t be able to use Affirm Klarna, Zip, Afterpay, etc. its still considered a grey area and you would need to adhear to each states regulations on seeds plus you will need to hold a sales nexus for each and every state you plan on sending seeds to. You will be required to provide CoA’s for each strain you offer in order to stay completely compliant.

All of that is to say its not an easy clear path to starting a seed business. If you want to discuss specific details feel free to message me.

That won’t work in the long run and could cause bigger issues down the road

Wix and Shopify are pretty much point and click builds anymore. They are pretty easy and you can get either one for like 40 a month or if you pay yearly it’s a little cheaper.

The sales nexus only applies if you sell over a certain amount in the state , with most states setting there threshold at or above 100,000 dollars I don’t think any bean sellers are hitting those numbers.
Why coa for every strain where do you get that language from ?
The mail service requires one document stating that it is hemp seed and legal under the 2018 farm bill , if they want to be specific they could ask for the license that allows sales of those beans but I have that.
Also why list it as cbd/hemp when you can easily fall under the agricultural products definition and for tax purposes seed sales falls under the same.
I file taxes on a nursery business every year and they don’t ask what specifically was sold as long as it is plants or seed, if you get into other items such as soil and garden tools then you need to file accordingly.

I just use seed canary. Its an app, just create an account to be a vendor and set up your shop. They will take $5 - $7 from each sale, or you can purchase a,monthly plan for $15. They handle the payments, and when tracking clears the money is sent right to your checking account.

They need tracking on every shipment to confirm delivery.

I cant leave any links, but i’m Adirondack Sugarman on there

@Heritagefarms, I am only speaking from my experience starting and maintaining a seed bank over the last few years. Additionally, I am based in California.

You are correct about sales nexus having the $100,000 threshold. All I was getting at is that even when selling online, you still have to have a nexus somewhere. If you live in California, then that’s where it will be.

I misspoke about it being required in each state.

From the perspective of most payment processors and banks, it is still classified as CBD/hemp seed, and they consider that a “High Risk” even though it’s legal.

With a high-risk account, you will almost always be required to show a CoA for each product you sell; you have to be able to provide documentation proving your seeds are within the legal limit. While you don’t need a CoA to sell seeds, the processor may require it.

In my experience, they only asked me to provide 15 CoAs randomly selected.

They don’t ask for every CoA or always require you to provide documentation your seeds are sourced from a licensed nursery, but they can at any time.

They have many different rules you will have to adhere to to remain compliant and keep processing payments. Even if the law states it’s legal, banks and processors tend to follow their own guidelines. For example, Visa/Master/Amex refuses to work directly with anyone who sells cannabis seeds, regardless of the law or current regulations.

You can still use a third party that does work with them; Authorize will provide seed sellers a gateway to process your transactions. I am currently using them as my gateway but the processor is where you will have the biggest hurdle.

Nothing here should be considered legal advice. I am not a lawyer.

Again, this is just my personal experience; not everyone will have the same.

My advice would be to get up with @Enjoi802 or even Nep at Neptune. He builds sites like they are nothing. Nep is a busy man but he is very helpful when he gets to your message. If you need help with getting in contact with him let me know brother.

All joking aside, Lets say I had 30,000 to 100,000 seeds from one cross. F6 and stable line. What would be the easiest, cheapest and least risky way to sell them?
