Best Humidifier for Bedroom or Small Growroom | Choose the Best

I have researched the best humidifiers to deal with dry air issues that are affecting both personal comfort and plant health. I went through reviews on the New York Times, Consumer Reports, and Popular Mechanics, and two models stood out as the best options:

Dreo Smart Humidifiers for Bedroom

LEVOIT Smart Humidifiers for Bedroom

I’m using this in a medium-sized bedroom and occasionally in a 4x4 grow tent. I’m looking for something that’s quiet, easy to clean, and reliable for maintaining a stable RH level without over-humidifying. Avoiding mold and mineral buildup is also a top concern.

Which one would you recommend? Or is there a better model you’ve had success with in your grow setup?

Appreciate your input — thanks in advance!

The only issue I have with the ultrasonic humidifiers is the necessity of using RO water (or equivalent) as running regular tap water through it leaves fine white powder (calcium carbonate?) residue on the surrounding surfaces.

A lot of them are built so they don’t turn back on if the power goes off. I’d find one with a physical switch and control it with an inkbird.

I use an inkbird humidifier in summer for seedlings, but I think the Levoit is a good one, Doug Dawson uses one.

This is what I use.

But yes, @Gpaw is right. I run distilled water.

I’ve been using this one in my dry room for over 4 years now and it works great! You can set the desired humidity levels you like.

I have been using a humidifier for some time and I noticed there are a few problems that come with it. If it is not cleaned regularly it starts to build up mold and bacteria which makes the air unhealthy instead of fresh. Some models are also noisy at night and can disturb sleep.

Another issue is white dust that comes from some ultrasonic humidifiers if you use normal tap water. It settles on furniture and is a bit annoying. Also filters in some brands need to be changed often which makes the cost higher in the long run.

I wanted to ask if others here have faced the same issues and how you deal with them. Do you use distilled water or have you found a model that avoids these problems?

Mine is basically a fan with a wick and a reservoir. I just replace the wick when it gets grody. I don’t use it for more than say a week at a time so it doesn’t get too bad too fast.

Gotta use distilled or RO water for Ulta Sonic.

If your not, use a wick system, either a towel and fan or a nicer one like a swamp humidifier.

You can add a table spoon of vinegar to a gallon of water to keep them at bay. I don’t have mold issues but I cleaned my units first, touch them with clean hands and use distilled water

Good idea! The wick system seems pretty simple and low-maintenance. Which brand or model do you use? Maybe I’ll try it too since I also don’t like the hassle of cleaning.

It’s a Honeywell but it’s old.
