Best strain names

What are the best strain names?
Why? Is it the way it sounds? Is it a clever riff on the parents? Is the name known far and wide? Does it say something?
This is NOT a thread to name strains that “cross the line” of rude or offensive, please… unless you really think it should be included, then say why
I’ll start with Maui Wowie. It’s an excellent name because it’s just funny to say. Seriously, I think most people know the strain just because of the name (with the help of Cheech & Chong - of course - who helped seal its best-name status).
Also the names Glitter Bomb and Cherry Bomb come to mind

I gotta nominate Meat Breath or Salami Leg. I enjoy my varieties that offer flavors and aromas that remind one of savory foods, so these do stand out to me.

zkittlezee zkittlezee zoobie doobie do, or else some kinda cakez. FCOL hybridized shit’s the nastiest tasting, throat burningest, least high shit i’ve ever had. i’ve been doing this stuff since 1967. when legalized finally, i thought yay, i can’t wait, and it’s shit due to millions of growers making all their fucking hybridized crap that removes all the entourage effects from what used to be good, sound, euphoric, smooth tasting, quality cannabis. pisses me off, actually. and it’s like forever. there’s NEVER gonna be stuff like there used to be, NEVER! thanks, growers, keep on finding what i hear so many of you say, is some darn good landrace, then saying, "i think i’m gonna cross it with some zkittlez or wotever shit you have that you think is so damn good, thereby ruining yet another quality landrace, heirloom pheno.

LEAVE IT THE FUCK ALONE!

Too late now, it’s gone, it’s all gone. :frowning:
i know this’ll piss all of you off. I heard somebody say that boomers don’t know anything about weed, and it doesn’t matter cuz they’ll all be dead in 10 years anyway. WE INVENTED GETTING HIGH! We invented sex, drugs and rock and roll (if we made no other contribution to the world), we were the ones, “tune in, turn on, drop out” with LSD. I guess the LSD is still good, it’s been a few decades since i’ve tripped.

I have some Pineapple Meatball from Terpfi3nd I have to pop, thats another good name though. Pineapple goes with savory foods quite well, especially when the pineapple is cooked.

I loved what I named 2 crosses I did years ago, both plays on the parents. Cindiana (indiana BG x C99) and silverella haze (ssh x c99) I like names that hint towards the parents.

Probably White Widow. For nearly one decade the name was a dominant force and a very large share of the bud sold on the low level german black market was called White Widow (until in the mid 2000s Amnesia Haze took over). The insane thing about White Widow is that two decades later there is no concensus on what White Widow was: Did it grew indica dominant or sativa dominant? Did it smell/taste sweet or spicy, fruity or earthy, strong or bland? Did it cause a heady high or a full body stone? And where did it go? Is it still a valued tool in breeding?

Other foundational strains with similar name recognition went on to create lasting genetic legacies: Skunk was used in everything by everybody for a very long time. Haze created hybrids that are sought after and used in breeding many decades later. OG Kush is in virtually all modern cali strains. But White Widow? In my humble opinion (I was barely old enough to witness the tail end of the Widow saga) the legacy of the name is much bigger than the legacy of the strain itself.

I always liked the name “S.A.G.E.” Afaik this stands for “Sativa Afganica Genetic Equilibrium” which pretty much nails it, imo.

Never grown her, but i got seeds of a SAGE x SAGE from a very nice Dude  here on OG.

I don’t know what specifically makes a good name a strain name but my ability to pick out good bud based on name alone is on a legendairy run. Time will tell if this skill will translate to breeding

Damn @ecsd707, those are some splendid names! I’m on the same wave length as you, a fun riff of the parents are to perfered. But now a days I do like the simple Cultivar A x Cultivar B, as well. The simplicity of it makes me drawn to it, I have noticed that I have started to pick up gear, just because it doesn’t contain any namn. It also give a sense of, if you find anything worth keeping, name it yourself, which I like the idea of.
