Does anyone have any insight/experience as far as what color/stage of maturity gives the best returns in regards to bubble hash? Do more mature (amber) trichomes detach easier or cleaner, etc?

do you plan to press this hash into rosin or leave it as bubble?
I harvest plants intended for hash when most trichomes are cloudy just the first touch of amber. Harvesting at this stage gives you a very light colored product compared to having a lot of amber trichomes.

Leave it as bubble hash. Maybe a little fresh frozen each harvest, but mostly gonna do it off of cured buds.

I think the mostly cloudy heads are the ones you want. The amber ones have oozed already wont be as collected.

Fresh frozen buds made into hash, and then pressed into rosin, if you desire. When the plant is mature, but before all the trichomes get dark. Volatile organics will evaporate over time, so don’t let that happen.

I never get to amber color. My buds will get red pistles and the trichomes will be white, so I harvest. I have yet to see amber. I even have left a few buds growing and it is the middle of September - cold and night, cool in the day. That are frosted all over but no amber.

Some trichomes, and my example are ones containing anthocyanin, only kind of amber up over 2 months after the harvest window is over. I don’t use amber trichome method any more due to severe flaws in methodology.
Besides myrcene to degrade into hashishene, heavy terps is at the bottom of my list of goals. More terps kinda just means more coughing…
Does light color just equate to a light product which is desired for whatever reason in rosin, or does it actually yeild better when washing?
Anyone who actually grows to SMOKE hash? Lol. So much info for rosin, nobody just smokes hash anymore?

I dab hash that I make myself. In the contest it scored higher than the rosin batches. It’s all about finding your bespoke hash plant that produces superb extracts. The process itself is fairly straightforward!
Yum, there’s a prize winning fresh extract right there. Fruity and floral with a hint of axle grease.

Different strokes, the last thing id ever want is full melt. Trying to smoke here lol. Full melt definitely is wayyy better than rosin, i find dabbing thoroughly unenjoyable and too similar to hard drugs though. It stops being stoned for me and my brain starts fiending for it and only caring about the rush from the dab not the high, much similar to crack.

Most good concentrates ive partaken in look like 50/50 if i had to guess. The ones that look like sugar or white colored are probably more cloudy. If i had to guess this was made with 50/50

Ive never really heard anybody describe it like that, but that pretty much sums up how i feel about it. Im not completely taken by the creamy white rosins… they taste great, butalmost like theres a different set of terps and effect than the mind/ body melting of fully ripe flower. Ill get some from my buddy every once in a while, but less often now that hes getting “better” at it.
Its like i tell my kids though, it doesnt have to be your most favorite thing ever for you to enjoy it. The real fun is the ability to accept things as they are, and enjoy that. Then go from there.
I think @JoeCrowe has done that with plant choices, harvest time, and bag selection. Chances are, you arent him, but you will face the same choices to come up with what works for you.

IF you want me to fiend, I can crank out some fantasmo CBG rosin. Damn, I dunno what it is about that stuff. I’m always chasing the CBG dragon… I can see it just over there.
OK but back in the real world, I’m not doing things for a personal preference, but instead, I’m cranking out something to reach top shelf and win the hash making contest. It does happen to align with personal preference for hash dabbing. My white mouse will always be the CBG rosin though.

Full melt+ cbg keif = incredible smokeable hash. What CBG strain are you growing? That stuff is so dry that I’m astonished you are able to squish any resin out of it in a press. Do tell more!

Fantasmo was the first one, then umm “SS” a patented genome and now a fast flower CBG based on OGK. The fantasmo cranked out a white brick from the press, the “SS” was a golden honey and the OGK, I’m gonna harvest in a week or so. I make hash first, and then press it through a 25 micrometer bag. I redacted the names of the patented genome it allows anyone to see where I got the genetics from and who made it, so I keep that part under my hat. I made the mistake once of mentioning the name and someone called the producer. I was like FFFfffuuuuuck me.
