BigMike55’s Ongoing Cannabis Log (Part 1)

Sounds like one of those strains that has the creeper high, love those.

I don’t think you mentioned it, what strain is that ?

I’m pretty shure it was the Blue Cookies by the looks of the buds. I love the structure of that plant. Not to mention the color. Beautiful.

After my last grow in soil and hydro I could def tell the difference between the soil and the dro. To be honest the dro had a smoother smoke. That being said the soil was not organic. I know that makes all the difference. Plus I believe I could have flushed a little bit longer in the soil. I think it takes longer in soil. In dro you control everything your plants gets. Soil there’s always traces of something left behind.
Is the White Widow a sativa leaner. Why she flowering so fast?

Yes, this was Blue Cookies. Pretty good smoke.
White Widow is a sativa dominant strain and I have no idea why they are flowering. I have them on 18 hrs of light. Maybe the cold temps screwed her timing up??? I don’t know.

Also drying times can affect it as well as the flush.

The supersoil I’ve been growing is has been the smoothest smoke I’ve ever had, so it does make a difference as you mentioned.

The Supersoil is that bought premixed or do you have to make it. I want to do stictly oeganic this summer outside. Is Promix organic?

Hey @BigMike55. What guage was the silver rods you used to make you CS? And what was the name of those plug things you put the wires in? I’m looking at prices to put one together. I figure it would be cheaper makeing my own. How much do you think you can make? Eventually the rods break completely down right? Ther is 14 gauge rods for $14 on the Amazon.

I mixed my own, and used coots mix. I hear there are some better mixes out there though for indoor. Coots is a good no till mix.

Im gonna throw in the idea that you dont have to buy all the ingredients individually. You can use some mixes. For instance Biolive.
https://downtoearthfertilizer.com/products/blended_fertilizer/bio-live-5-4-2/

Use that as most of your nutes, add compost, peat, aeration, rock dusts, gypsum, ewc, and maybe some biochar. Its not too bad, and well worth it in my experience.

Good luck! Ill be around, shoot a question if you have it.

See I don’t think people give folks that do organics enough credit. Personally it looks harder then hydro. Organic soil maybe more forgiving but if you put to much of something in your soil you cant take it out. You don’t want to flush unless you have to. Soil if you and something is wrong with your plant you have to wait 3 to 4 days to see if you fixed the issue. Hydro you see if you fixed the problem usually from my experience within 2 days. If you got to much of something in your reservoir all you have to do is drain your reservoir and add more water and nutes accordingly. I have allot of respect for organic growers.

I only use soil outdoors. When I first got my tent I didn’t have a exhaust fan yet. I up potted my my plants with FFOF. Man let me tell you. My tent is in my bedroom. When I went to bed all night I thought I was going to puke. I was nauseous the whole night. It wasn’t that it stunk. I can’t explain it. It was like I could taste it. Won’t ever do that again.
So the Biolive just use it how it says on the lable or do half the recommended dose?

I look at the soil mix. I’ve never read what the label recommends to be honest.

14 ga will work. I believe I got the 12 ga. The rubber plugs I got at Lowes. Drill a hole thru each slightly small than the wire. 1/4” holes in the lid 1” apart.

I was just wondering about this. Those White Widow are flowering and I still have them on 18/6 light/dark. My good friend gave me 5 seeds of this to plant and grow. At the time he told me they were regs. So I popped all 5. 1 did not make it. But the early flowering has me stumped. Do you think he gave me autoflower thinking they were regs? Sorry to say, my bud passed away with the KungFlu about 2 months, or I would have asked him. Just weird.

Sorry to here that. I think maybe they could possibly be autos. Maybe he gave you something else thinking they was the WW. Who knows. Looks like your going to have bud sooner then later.:+1:

So I think I told you folks that I double cup my seedlings. I put the seedling in a CLEAR beer cup with holes at the bottom for drainage. Then put the clear cup into a colored cup for darkness and to catch extra water. This way you can monitor how the root system is progressing without stressing the seedling. Like this.

First time I seen the clear solo in a regular solo I thought it was brilliant. I was always shied away from clear cups because of what I have read about roots sensitivity to light. I’ve used clear containers to monitor the success of clones. Being new to making clones. I wanted to make sure there was roots before I transplanted.

Love your manicure @BigMike55

I have a lot of money wrapped up in that manicure. Haha

My clones and seedlings go in clear cups until they fill em up with roots. The light doesn’t seem to affect them at all.

I used to double cup them too, but had a couple dampened off due to sitting in water to long.

I thought about that. I was told that the roots did not like to be exposed to light. Thus the second cup. Interesting!

I was under the same belief for years, til I tried clear alone. Nothing happened to the plants at all and the roots stayed vigorous. When I attempted this, my idea was if the lights prune my roots, I’d have more time in small cups before they become root bound. Went a full cycle in clear cups, and neither happened, no root bound cause I use coco and healthy roots exploded throughout the cups.

Believe I will try that. I was also thinking that light was not good on roots because of how hydro growers keep them hidden. Good info tho.

Ok Gromies. Here is my update for this week. The White Widow are chugging along. I think the cold snap screwed them up a bit but we are back on track I think. The Blue Cookies clones have really picked up the pace and are growing like weeds.
